Second time at Laguna, getting the karcepts bars dialed in with the new 12kg/6kg setup. Settled on settings 1/5 front and 3/5 rear. I prefer the higher rear spring bias that I had running 12kg/7kg. It puts the front bar in a better usable range. The car got into ABS easier than I would have liked, so I'm most likely stepping back down to 10kg/6kg for the next track day.

Crazy cornering G for this little car
1:47.8 is a great time. Consider the All-time OFFICIAL Laguna Seca lap record in a production car was 1:27:62 in a McLaren Senna supercar set in 2019. The outright lap record (unofficial) of 1:05.786 was set during 2012 Ferrari Racing Days by Spain’s Marc Gené in his Ferrari F2003-GA. GO MIATA! Miata Is Always The Answer.
Is a great time considering that on Mazda MX-5 cup on Iracing the normal pace is 1.43 (and there is a competition race car)
@@NicoAle96 I believe iRacing world record is more like 1:36 (iRacing down for maintenance now so I can’t verify), and the pros in the real cup series got just under 1:40. I have done 1:38 in iRacing, and my best time in my stock ND2 (30AE) is 1:53.7. Aaron’s time is great for sure, but I suspect he can still go faster. 😁
Looking good! Min speeds are looking nice. Haven’t had my ND2 to the track yet, nice to see you getting out there with yours!
Thanks, man! It’s been a blast!
Nice clean lap👍 great time , my 2.5 NC died last time at Laguna and I am waiting for 103db day to go and see what it can do .
Looks awesome! Got an ND2 club trim last year and love the car, but haven't tried it on the track yet (really don't have much track experience at all). Guess I would have to stiffen it up quite a bit for that, which I'm afraid might ruin the road comfort a bit (?). Crazy that this little "underpowered" roadster can keep up with performance cars costing 2-3x more :)
Nice! Yea, you don’t need to do anything to the car other than some RBF660 or Castrol SRF brake fluid and some more aggressive brake pads. A beginner can run DS2500 pads front and rear on street and track and they’ll be great.
Also here’s the best playlist of videos I’ve found teaching how to drive on track!

@@aaronsnd223 Cool, thanks for the info!
@@aaronsnd223 haha I knew it was gonna be all Driver 61 :)
Love your videos man, keep em coming!
Thanks! I’ll throw up one from Sonoma soon!
I actually really like the sound of the transmission/diff, makes it sound like a dog-box transmission.
Awesome driving and machine, Laguna Seca is on my bucket list- it's my favorite track on GranTurismo and after actually driving on a track for time-attack (Abarth 500, not my ND2) I could just imagine how much fun it would be.
nice clean lap, i would love to take my nb on track but im afraid of hurting it
Track is a road like any other road, just much more forgiving of errors. You can drive as slow as you want!
i did in it 1:44 in assetto corsa, hah! xD
Nice lap Aaron. Curious which GoPro mount you use to record this?
Thanks, this one! It comes with a gopro mount ball as well:

Nice Driving. I have an ND1 and live in Sol. Cal. I plan on hitting Laguna Seca during summer. Any orgs you recommend running with? I'm looking for max track time i.e. more than 4 20 min sessions per day.
Thanks! SpeedSF is always a safe bet for 5 20min sessions, and they often have the track for Saturday and Sunday if you really want to maximize seat time.

There are some other lesser-known orgs that tend to be invite-only and run only 3 run groups with tons more seat time. But I’ve only just heard about them from other people at the track and don’t remember, sorry!
Golden Gate Lotus Club is also another good one that has a few run groups with more sessions
Beautiful car. Have you run at buttonwillow? What times have you ran there with this setup?
Haven’t taken the car to buttonwillow yet, no
I have the Karcepts 0.188" front bar and the 0.095" rear bar. AX, I ran really stiff in the front (4) and looser in the rear (1). That gets pushy on track so for track I am currently running front-2 and rear-4. This is on 600/300 springs, -3.5F camber, -2.2R camber, zero toe.
Nice, yea that correlates with my setup experience too. Love those karcepts bars!
Still running Borla exhaust? I like that you can mostly hear the engine note inside the cabin. Was thinking of leaving mine stock as I already have fun noises in the car during track days, this may change my mind though.
I love the borla. Very minimal drone and nice note all the way to redline. It’s quite loud when new but it quiets down significantly as it gets gunked up over a couple hundred miles. Can’t hear it on the freeway at any rpm with cruise control on.
I’m actually waiting for an AVO header to come in any day now to go along with it! We’ll hear how it sounds on video!
Nice!!
Looking forward to getting my ND1 ready for some track time at Laguna Seca this fall. not going to go so far on mods this year. How is the fitment on those RS4's? considering going to a 100tw tire?
Hey Aaron - do you ever see ND RF Miatas at track days? Are they topically allowed that you know of? I hav heard not having a roll bar is a potential issue.
Hey, depends on the organization. In NorCal no I run with tech inspects your car or enforces roll bars on miatas. You pretty much go out there at your own risk. I’ve seen plenty of rollbarless Miata and RFs out there. They’ll only kick you out if you’re acting like a fool.
@@aaronsnd223 thank you! Still deciding between RF or soft top / this helps!
Nice lap. You didn't have to get below 40 mph to go around any corner. What mods?
Mods are in the description! :)
I think this car need some extra power, maybe a supercharger
damn thats sick
I can never get the corkscrew right
in GT
Practice makes perfect!
"Camber -2.5F, -2R"
Don't you want more camber?
3f, 2.5r should be a little faster but I’m trying to keep my tire wear even since I daily drive the car. RS4 is a slow tire anyway so it wouldn’t utilize more than 3 on a road course. Inner tire temps are already 10F hotter than middle and outer
why would you have the brake animation on right
Whoopsie
MX5 most fun and most raced car in history.
Only those who are ignorant dont get the Mx5 ethos that has lasted 30years
fun? yes. Most fun? No. not even close.
Spec time's
Got less noise/vibration now after breaking in the diff mount?
I never noticed any extra vibration, but yes the gear wine is much less than at first, but still there.
@@aaronsnd223 thx
Have you had a chance to run with any s2000 similar mods to yours ?
Yea, but skill level plays such a big role that it’s hard to compare. They’re pretty much the same car with comparable aero and tire
@@aaronsnd223 yeah true. like ND2s passing Z06. thanks for the quick reply. Is the nd2 reliable at Thunderhill all day say like in Aug? Hear about so many cars spinning road bearings when oil gets slashed around. Over heating etc.. When I used to track my fd3s it was only good for a handful of laps at Thunderhill in Aug then I drive it slow.
@@seanhwy9761 Yea as long as you’re not nose-to-tail following a buddy for 30minutes straight the ND2 is fine without an oil cooler. Other than that they designed it to sustain oil pressure at 1.4g so it can run all day without issue
Nice lap, where’d you find the front splitter and fender vents?
Thanks! I made the splitter, mounting and tire splats. The fender vents are Golf R hood vents made by Verus
Need a bigger spoiler, obviously...
What spoiler?

Hey what mods are you running your miata?
Hey, major mods are in the description, full list under Abeer’s comment on my latest thunderhill west video!
@@aaronsnd223 hey thanks for the info. I just checked all your mods. Sounds great! Was wondering what type of brake fluid you run and if you have any oil/transmission coolers and if you have had issues with overheating/reliability issues of any of these components. Thanks!!!
@@AT-fi9dj I’m running RBF600 brake fluid, with 5W-30 engine oil, 75W-140 trans, and 75w90 diff. No cooling issues with the ND2 as long as you’re not drafting like in race scenarios. At that point it’s recommended to have oil and trans cooling
@@aaronsnd223 Thanks!!!
