the reason why there’s so much passion behind college sports is because you don’t view the players as athletes, you see them as friends and classmates. They’re guys that live in your neighborhood that you might see in class or around campus at the grocery store or the bar. These universitys have been around forever and are all over the country so it’s much easier to access college sports than professional

literally the worst description ever and it’s not even true.... While the nfl know has 31 teams i think.. or 32.. FBS has 131. The teams are much more local and people actually have a reason to support the schools because they most likely attended there. Alma matters and the fact there’s so many local teams in places nfl teams aren’t are the two reasons college is so exciting

The first one you did was for Clemson University. The Rock is Howards Rock which is from Death Valley National Park in California. The importance is that the stadium is called Death Valley. Frank Howard was a coach in the 1940s. Someone brought him that rock and to motivate his players he told them unless they give 110% keep your damn hands off my rock. So it was added to the stadium and as the players run down the hill they rub the rock. They come off of busses because the locker rooms are on the other side of the stadium. So they are bussed around to run down the hill. That hill is no joke either....it levels off at one point which is where you see the players jump.

The state of South Carolina has a population of just over 3 million. In the US the bulk of sports pride is born in smaller community teams. Across these communities support combines to define an area, region or even a state. Professional teams are of interest sure, but they are not often local to most people who can't really ever go see them in person. College sports in America is recognition that all 50 states have amazing sport-loving fans, fans that love their home teams. And we rock out with them, for better or worse. Thank you Mert. You are British, but you're also clearly Scottish so I appreciate your appreciation, even more.

The team is named, "Seminoles" after the Seminole Tribe of Florida. One of the best places in the country to see a football game. Other teams have tried to replicate the FSU War Chant but make no mistake, it's a Florida State original. FSU also has the largest marching band in the nation and the School of Music composes much of the music for the band.
Florida State enjoys a close partnership with the Seminole Tribe of Florida who approves the mascot costumes and images.

If you think that’s crazy, watch a team as they play a hated rival and are winning or it be a close score. Depending on the team and the fan base and most importantly, the location. The energy and noise can be tremendous. Again depending on how their team is doing the fans can keep that energy up and it can affect the team as well. It’s hard to explain, but you can you can feel it, even if you’re watching on tv at home, but there is nothing like being there in the mix. It’s quite an experience. College football has so many traditions and stories that go back generations. Perhaps some of the fans in the stands went to those schools, maybe generations of families went there, who knows? But one thing is for certain, there is passion that’s why I love it so much and I look forward to the fall every year.

I just graduated from Virginia Tech (second clip) and I can assure you that the entrance is one of, if not the best college football entrance in all of football.
They play “Gods Gonna Cut You Down” by Johnny Cash, turn that off then all 66,000+ people chant “Let’s Go” and “Hokies” (we are the Virginia Tech Hokies), then they play Enter Sandman by Metallica. As they play that it’s tradition to start jumping. We have registered a decent amount of seismic activity with our jumping.
As the players run in they hit the “Hokie Stone” which is a special limestone that is only found in 2 quarries in the world in that area of the state of Virginia. Virginia Tech football games are 100% my favorite thing in the world and I will never not get goosebumps when I see it. The fans on the hill are students (the hill is the student seating). Before running down The Hill, you rub Howard’s Rock. The stadium is known as Death Valley, & the rock came from Death Valley, California. It was given to then Coach Frank Howard in the early 60s. It was actually used as a door jam for years before Coach Howard told an assistant coach to do something with it. That Coach put it on a pedestal & had the players rub it for luck. Clemson wound up winning that game (9/24/66), & a tradition was born. Coach Howard is known for telling players, “if you aren’t going to give 110%, keep your filthy hands off my rock”.

I'm a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and we have some pretty damn good fans. It's electrifying to be apart of a college football game and I highly recommend that you attend one.
Personally I would recommend the Red River Rivalry in Dallas, TX between Oklahoma and Texas. The state fair and a jam packed 50/50 stadium is something completely unique.

It starts in high school. Every team has a sign or object that represents what they believe, and work for. You touch it or slap it on the way to the match to connect with it. It’s a tradition here in Texas

Lol that first one is Clemson, South Carolina. Population 18k. The stadium holds at least 85k.
I'm from Louisiana and we got 105k stadium. Death Valley.
Sister went to the university of south Carolina in Columbia (pop 137k) and their opening to Space Odyssey is amazing with 80k fans.

Texas A&M is famous for their Midnight Yell Practice, where they come to the stadium the night before the game to practice the cheers. They don't have female cheerleader, they have male Yell Leaders (dating from the time they were an all-male school). A bit weird their rivalry songs are for a school they no longer play (University of Texas) but it's definitely something interesting to watch. The fans don't sit during the game, an homage to the "12th man", their willingness to volunteer to get on the field should the team need them. Every college program has strong stories and traditions, and its great to learn about them.

As a Nebraska fan, I have to admit Clemson does seem to be one of the best. If you get to the States, a Saturday night game at any big school in the southeastern part of the country will be pretty mind blowing.

If you want to add a bit of British incite into the College Football experience, check out "Stephen Fry in Alabama".
