  • A video of clips and stills of a trip to Bahia de los Angles on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Norte with our Montgomery 15 sailboat in October 2014. This is my first video trying music. Songs are Jubel by Klingande and I Crush Everything by Jonathan Coulton. I got the idea for using the Jubel song from the excellent video "North Sea crossing in a 19ft boat" by kayakmaneuan here on RUclips.

    David, i know you made this over 5 years ago. I have a 30 foot trimaran on a trailer over in San Carlos. Love trailerable sailboats. Small boat budgets and small boat adventuring. People think they need their half million dollar catamarans. Most of us don't have that kind of jing. So, it was wonderful to see what you and the missus did with your little boat. Thanks for sharing. I will definetly vist Isla Smith. That was very interesting.

    Great adventure. I have a trailerable water ballasted Santana 2023 that would be so much fun to sail on the Sea of C. Researching what locations on the Baja side that might have some decent ramps. Not sure I want to tow all the way down to Bahia de los Angeles though. Thinking maybe Puerto Penasco or San Felipe. Seeing your trip has really inspired me to start making plans.

    small boats are the best. Thanks for a lovely video. I am planning to come out to the sea of Cortez on my Bayfield 25 in the next few years.

      Thanks. I'm planning to go next year in late winter, early spring. it will be a long drive from canada but it looks like it will be worth it. Your video has convinced me. thanks.

      It was a long drive to Baja from here and a longer drive from here to the Northwest Territories when we went there so I can agree it will be a long drive for you, wherever you are in Canada. On the other hand, if your trip is anything like ours, it will be worth it!

    Looks like a great destination. Where did you leave your vehicle and trailer parked for the trip ? (I always worry about little details)

    • @dgrah
      @dgrah  5 лет назад

      The details are important! The ramp we used was associated with a restaurant and hotel, as I remember, and we paid to park on their property. Worked great.

    how was living aboard on the M15 for that length of time? Particularly for 2! Would you have rather had an M17 for live aboard? for trailering? Am torn between a WP15 and an M17. Thanks - awesome film.

      I admit we may not be typical, but the Montgomery 15 was fine - perfect - for us on that trip and pretty much every other. It is a lot like car camping in a small car. When we go to sleep, a lot of stuff comes out of the cabin and into the cockpit. Montgomery 17's are great boats but I never remember a time I wished I had one instead of our 15.

    You lost me when you disturbed the birds. Right at the beginning. I was about to stop when I saw you disturb the whale shark. Gringo, go home!
