You are exactly right! Some of the other Dis Unplugged shows will at times insult people. They will make fun of peoples weight. In my opinion, that could be a reason Jackie finally left the Dis and moved back to Seattle.
I found a beautiful all black Dooney & Bourke purse at the Grand Flo shop. It’s got subtle Disney imprints in the leather and I love that I can take it to work and no one notices unless I point it out - Ninja Disney gear LOL
Excellent show! I agree on the AKL Jambo and Zawadi. If you remember the Lion King (Animal Kingdom) show, Zawadi (which means the gift) is the "name" of the performer that is in charge of the warthog section! So, the "gift" - as a name for a gift shop is kind of cool!
Our last trip, we went into the gift shops at our resorts every day. Honestly, we kept checking to see if they had different, resort specific shirts. We stayed at Boarwalk and Beach Club and bought shirts from each. The Bou-Tiki is a great one too... got a great Trader Sam's shirt there!
Just one suggestion for a future show. I know a few years back. You did a show about RCI and DVC. You should do a show about Interval International Exchange and the reduced points. That is a benefit when booking an exchange at the 3 month booking window. You forgot to mention that. When you talked about RCI a few years back.
You guys mentioned all of my favorite gift shops. You are a great group and we enjoy listening to you. Thanks so much for all of the information and fun you impart each show.
I agree with Jodi about the Grand Floridian gift shop being one of the best for clothing (or bathing suits). A little pricey but I would usually find something unique and cute. When I would stay at Beach Club, I would make a point of heading over to Yacht Club gift shop. Not only was it more peaceful and less chaotic than the Beach side, but they had items that would either be sold out at other gift shops or some unique items.
I agree w Zawandi at AKL, used to be even better. African wines and carvings. WL is good also,. they used to have more specific WL march. In Sept I will be staying at 3 spots, SSr treehouse, WL cabin and AKL Kidani Savannah. and will check out the shops again
I think La Boutique deserves a mention for the range of merchandise on offer relative to its size. They sell quite a lot of nice things. I got a wonderful Riviera beach towel a few weeks ago. They also have a delicious Chianti for only $19. Much better than the awful heavy, plummy reds on offer at WL Mercantile store.
At Hilton Head resort they have us 10% DVC discount on food and drink art the QS and bar but I'm not sure if alcohol was included or just soft drinks and smoothies. We got 20% DVC discount on hard and softline merchandise. Saratoga Springs never gave us a discount off QS or grocery food at all.
Great conversation! My favorite shops are Zawadi, La Boutique, and the one at OKW. I actually really dislike dated t-shirts. I think undated are more “evergreen”. I do understand dated ornaments, like he said, you remember that specific trip.
I wish Disney would have a website for the gift shops throughout Disney since many items are continually out of stock and not everyone lives locally. They would do big business as we all love our merch. I too would like more DVC merch.
Okay, so I didn’t recognize the name of the gift shop that Amy mentioned at Disney’s Yacht Club and that’s because it used to be Fittings and Fairings. I don’t know why that resort is constantly changing the names of the restaurants and shops (except the Yachtsman)? It’s a good resort, used to be our “go to” until we purchased DVC. The shops at the Boardwalk are great too. We love to browse Weyland Galleries. Nothing beats the variety of shops at Disney Springs though. If you can’t find something to like there, I really don’t know what you could be looking for.
One of the hidden shopping places that is elite is back in France in Epcot. Guerlain will often have selection you cannot find anywhere else in the US, including US Guerlain shops.
I’m really excited to hear about the DVC flipping, can’t wait to hear the news about that. I’m always kicking myself for not getting more Poly points.😬
I don't think the Disney Park Merchandise designs realize the average DVC Member. I missed the Nike Dry Fit Polo Shirts and just basic merchandise. Everything has to have a pop of color or rainbow these days.
We purchased one framed picture from Riviera and are considering adding 2 or more on our next visit. Will there be a DVC gift shop in the Disneyland Towers?
Here's the problem with "DVC" Specific Merchandise, it's bland! years ago there was a great variety of items. What happened to the Men's Dri Fit Polo Shirts? There is Not enough variety of DVC items available PERIOD! BTW, what happened to Pete? haven't seen him in a while. Hope he's okay. Thank You Paul and Team for the content! DVC Member since June 2000. AKV-KV, CCR & PVR.
I am not kidding around please do not think this is a joke, but my Father created and owned Gilbert Products (in Canada) and Softliete) in the US. He created the plastic Mushroom Lamp, and the Ballerina Lamp, among many others, So I have a leaning towards things like that (The Mushroom lamp is in several Museums, including the Smithsonian. And would like to pick up several of the lamps that occasionally go on sale,.
I just LOVE this show! The crew is so upbeat they always fun and they love DVC! Such a fun show !!!

Many things to love about this show but the ongoing thread of Derek’s tiki lamp is my favorite.

Worst is Beach Club. It really needs some love.
Great Topic and Show! Love going to the gift shops specifically to find DVC Merch. I usually have luck at Saratoga Springs finding something great!

My favorite is BouTiki at the Polynesian

Amy, your hair always looks amazing so I will trust your shampoo recommendation.

I am just back from Aulani in Hawai'i -- and I thought the two shops were awesome. Unique stuff that you don't find other places.
Really great episode! I could do a whole day of just resort (s)hopping. So much fun!
You guys mentioned all of my favorite gift shops. You are a great group and we enjoy listening to you. Thanks so much for all of the information and fun you impart each show.
Fulton's General Store at Port Orleans Riverside is another good one too.

The golf pro shops at Saratoga springs or over at the palm/magnolia course have great subtle Disney polos and hats!

Nice to know about the Riviera GS, the artwork is stuff I like. thanks
Merchandise discount for DVC is 20%

As aiways, a very entertaining crew! Clearly you folks do a lot of shopping!

Amy, a Swap meet? In Lakeland, FL.
We purchased one framed picture from Riviera and are considering adding 2 or more on our next visit. Will there be a DVC gift shop in the Disneyland Towers?

Paul, bless you. 😆 🏰
Pete is in Rehab.
Great start
Fun show
Paul sultrily asks his lady Amy, “Did you have a good night last night?” 😯 ☺️ 🔥
Another one! ❤
When is Pete coming back?
What happened to Pete?
rehab
Oh really.
Manager of Paul’s heart…lol

What happened to Sean? Haven’t seen him in forever.
Unfortunately he’s not with the DIS team anymore.
