You are the first Westerner I see on RUclips who actually got it. The fluidity in Bulgarian music leads to great freedom for improvisation. It's what adds up to the playfulness between the musicians and the dancers. On a side note, I have noticed that people get it easier when they see the dancing on the rhythms, especially non-choreographed dancing. It's like Baroque music, you can learn but it's mainly when you see it danced that you get it. Great video, top notch 👌
Thank you for this comment. It means a lot! It's true about the dance. I learned to dance a basic račenica at the same time that I learned the rhythm on the tupan!
Really appreciate and enjoy these videos. Racenica is a beautiful dance; learning the 7/8 rhythm on the frame drum is a lot of fun. It really surprises me in a pleasant way to see foreigners that study Bulgarian dance rhythms and music. I would love to see you making a tutorial for the Bulgarian Bucimis rhythm 15/16. That would be a blast. God bless you and keep creating great content. Cheers! 👏
Wonderful video! This inspired me to order a Remo (14”) - yes, I’m broke - to begin learning. The information in your videos is invaluable. Best wishes and stay safe!

Could agree more with your comment. Indeed it helps get the rhythms when you see the dances

Thanks for your comment! Bučimiš is an amazing rhythm! I'll see if I can arrange a frame drum version of it!

@@kenshorley thanks i play Tapan
Love the Tapan!
Pretty nice you got the pronunciation of račenica down!
Is there anywhere I can find drum loops of this so I can play accordion along with?
I just found an app called Loopsic that has some loops in 7, 5, etc. I can't guarantee that it has a Racenica but it may be a good place to start!
@@kenshorley Thanks, but needs to be on PC, I don't use a phone.
What kind of frame drum is that?
It's a frame drum known as a Tar. This particular model is a 14" Classic Tar made by Cooperman Drums from Vermont, USA.
Lovely…. Thanks. But wayyyyy too fast for me.🫣
Hi Nicola. Thanks for the kind comment! (You can always slow down the playback speed for any RUclips video. Or speed it up if it's too slow!)
