- WildCat is a four-legged robot being developed to run fast on all types of terrain. So far WildCat has run at about 19 mph on flat terrain using bounding and galloping gaits. The video shows WildCat's best performance so far. WildCat is being developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA's M3 program. Hey, it's a prototype. You don't think the first cars were quiet, do you? (not that the ones going by my house are; but I think that's more due to the stereo industry). Power is always the issue, and a screaming high RPM 2 stroke is about as light as it gets for now.
It could have applications as something the entertainment industry can use for practical special effects.
But your bit on the military was very funny, well played.

Believe me, with the people around whom I live, this sort of thing would be a "killin' offense". :) I love this thing just because it is so far out of the box for most people. Will it ever be practical outside the military? Not likely. Does that make it less cool? Not at all. And I hope you didn't think I was attacking your comment, not my intention at all.
