Been using the Moto Edge 30 for almost a year now. Really like the fact that it's almost stock android, allowing blazing fast and fluid OS navigation even with Snapdragon 778+. But wouldn't consider getting another Moto if it's priced too close to the Pixel 7 or S23, due to its lower camera performance and lackluster OS updates.
I have been facing a few stuttering issues in some places in my moto edge 30 , like when pulling down the notification bar , and navigating through apps and sometimes in RUclips , and going through Google feed . Do u have any of these issues ? I also want to know if you use the refresh rate at 144hz or in auto . Thanks in advance.
@Athena so far I haven't experienced stuttering on my Motorola Edge 30, and it performed so much smoother than Samsung A53 with Exynos 1280. I've been using the phone on auto refresh rate since the beginning, didn't see much to gain on 144Hz that's gonna drain battery more.
@Ghrost Helman but the vanila Pixel 7 can be obtained at promo price now and then, with fast enough Tensor G2, great camera, and latest OS update. For someone who doesn't mind the camera performance and OS update, then Moto is fine choice given the faster Snapdragon 8 gen 2. Currently, I only wish Moto can be more transparent with its update policy and schedule, promised to update Android 13 early 2023 but late last week I just received Feb security update from Dec security patch but still on Android 12.
Ive got the Moto Edge Plus (2023) and these two phones are very similar! I'm happy I got the Edge Plus but it definitely makes me happy that Motorola is dropping other bangers like this on the side!
Looks decent and worth considering. Software updates seem to be an issue with Motorola. I'd expect at least 3 years of Android and security from a flagship phone
They're promising 3 years of os upgrades and 4 years of security patches. I don't see why that would be a deal-breaker for anybody given that only one year less than Samsung and you get a charger in the box, $400 off the MSRP and an Enthusiast isn't going to upgrade long before 4 Years anyway
@@michaelcorcoran8768 problem is that they didn't roll out Android 13 till now it will receive Android 13 when Android 14 launched. So you will be always outdated if they improve this they will best most of the brand
Motorola is the most user friendly phone out there. And very durable. My father in law has my moto G4 and it's still working fine after 6 years of use. Battery has been changed one time only..
Protip for moto owners - the navigation buttons at the bottom can be changed by bypassing the settings by pulling the settings widget "3 buttons" to the desktop (option under to select under "shortcut to specific settings") - you will then enter a submenu that is not normally available in the normal settings 😃
I wish we lived in a timeline where flagship phones gave you all the hardware features and options one could want in a phone. It's like getting a luxury car with the most expensive trim that's missing a glove compartment, "because nobody uses gloves to drive anymore."
I was on board with Moto X for years, the updates and cameras were the issues for me. This looks like a serious temptation back..I've been Pixel for years.
I bought two Motorola Edge Plus 2022's for my husband and myself last August and we still LOVE them! They replaced our Pixel 6 Pros and I'll never go back to the Pixel line again. I'll probably buy a couple of these 40's once they are slightly less $$. Thank you for your fantastic review! I love your accent!

You can get the exact same phone called the x40 in China for $550 dollars U.S. It works fine here in the us. Has the play store and google maps pre installed.
I love the aesthetic in matte, and I love the Ready For desktop mode. I hate the lack of software support. A company as big as Moto-Lenovo has no excuse to not match Samsung in update frequency and duration.
I like the idea of shaking the phone to turn on the flashlight it's a super efficient gesture to use. I also prefer to have just a flat screen with super thin bezel but I truly don't like the screen slopping onto the edge of the phone. 😎💯👍🙌
Decent phone. So the big question is: Will this have the same shitty OS and security patch update support as previous models, or have Motorola finally gotten their act together, and started offering longtime support?
Yes...Motorola Edge 30 Fusion here and comes with Android 12 and they promised 13 and 14 but 13 hasn't come yet. Other companies offer 3 major updates and are up to date...
Edge plus 2022 still running android 12 lol.. maybe I should have went for the s22 plus for 50 bucks more but I hate Samsung bloatware and this comes with 512gb memory vs Samsung 256gb 😂

And the lack of telephoto camera. Buuut... At least it comes with a charger and even with a case. 👍 That's basically as good as a phone can get these days. Would it be worth upgrading from OnePlus 7 Pro?
Love the OnePlus 7 Pro! I have the OnePlus 11 now and although IP68 and wireless charging would be nice, the $699usd for 16/256 was a steal. I do like this Motorola a lot but it's only full HD screen and is $300 more than the OnePlus 11 and lesser camera and software support. I would wait

Motorola's bad reputation for software support is the BIGGEST DRAWBACK. I mean, what's the point of using the powerful SD8 Gen2 if it will not be supported for the long term.
Honestly not bad for £800. It has identical performance to more expensive flagships, slightly worse camera and they even include the charger in the box. However I'm more of a budget oriented guy and I'm more looking forward to regular Edge 40.
@@eddie-yw3vs Well Pixel is not officially sold in my country but if I really wanted to get one, there are ways to do that.
