Your home looks every bit like mine would if I had my own home again. I always decorated with gently used furniture and other things. Many people who would visit couldn't believe I had put together such a welcoming and lovely home on such a small budget, and a few even asked if I'd had it professionally decorated. There's nothing like acquiring your own special touches to make a place really be your home.

Don't you just love having a home that is uniquely yours? It says so much about your personalities and reflects who you are. Trends come and go and who can really redecorate every 5 years? I've always gone against the grain and try to find unique pieces that aren't matchy- matchy. My daughter bought me a table that looks like a painter's palette with paint all over the top. It is unique to me as an artist and I just love it. As you say, this may not be your style but it is mine. How beautiful that we can have a home to enjoy and find comfort in. Not to mention your house looks spotless. Today I made one of your spinach and chicken dishes with cream and parmesan cheese. Oh my goodness, it is so good. I loved the tour! My house was built by my grandfather and is a Cape Cod. The foundation is made of stone and in the 1930's it was a stone cottage. He used the cottage as the foundation and built the 'house' on top in 1940. Many good memories here. It was my grandparents summer home and we spent every summer here in Lake Hopatcong. In the mid 1960's my mom and dad were gifted the house so I live in the house I grew up in. The house was passed down to me. All the furniture except for 5 pieces I inherited. Your home is warm and cozy. Again, I loved the tour! Beautiful!
It’s so refreshing to see a home that looks like mine! I have wallpaper in my kitchen and bathrooms and I know it’s considered outdated but I see no need to update it. I’m content with my frugal home.

I love how you decorate your home! You talked about using the antiques you have and I just got done telling my daughter tonight, who’s getting ready to move to her first house, that if it’s important to her, use it to decorate. If it’s not important to her, donate it. There’s no point in having items of her grandparents that she loves packed away in a box where she cannot see and enjoy them. She knows 90% of what’s in my home is hand me downs, pre-loved, gifted to me, bought on clearance or items I’ve had for 20 years or more. So I love your decorating style and process. God bless y’all! I too have decided to decorate for my own style instead of for resale value. Our houses are all about the same and many look like they are decorated by the same person. I love primitive, french country, victorian, etc. and my home is becoming a mix of it all. Love your style and it makes me want to head out to Goodwill.

I love this. I'm moving into a bigger place so I went shopping for a nest of tables, dining table and chairs and a mirror. I got them from a second hand shop for £70 total including delivery.

What a beautiful home! What really struck me about your converted guest room, your hang out space, was the lack of a TV and the prominence of instruments and a radio. I could totally imagine sitting at that table, playing cards with family or friends, listening to the radio. What a quiet, peaceful space. I love your home We have the same style. My ho.e was a cottage style, buil in 1925. 850 square feet and cozy. Our decor is mostly thrifted. We go for vintage, antiques, rustic. We hardly ever buy retail. We love old, previously loved things. Back in the day things were made better
I love your home! We have five children and do not own a dish washer either. We have a microwave that was here when we bought our home, it is over the stove. I unplugged it and store our spices in it! :) Thank you so much for all the encouragement you and Paul give! 🧡
Love your home its warm and inviting. Love how it is decorated almost for the time period. Open and airy, Love the table cloths and bed spread too. Thank you for sharing it with us. Adding to this you can buy see through vinyl at fabric stores on large rolls. I put that over the little table to protect it and then you can see the picture. It would be worth the extra money for the colors goes beautiful with the room. You may be able to get two out of one piece. I use to use it to cover my table cloth when kids were little. So I did not have to wash the table cloth all the time.

I agree with your feeling that the best compliment anyone can give me about my home is that they’re comfortable enough to take a nap on my couch. When our children were teens, one day I noticed that their friends were sprawled over the living room as relaxed as could be. That said a lot, because my husband was their pastor, and they felt comfortable in their pastor’s home. One of the boys said our home was relaxing. I loved it! Finally, I had to stop the video and look at the books on your bookshelf. I have some of the same ones you do on your bottom shelf! We are Retired couple, we bought our cranberry leather reclining loveseats at a furniture shop they were over ridiculously priced, so I asked the floor sales person if we could have the 2 floor models, Heaven to Betsy, I was floored $750.00 for the pair, genuine leather absolutely Amazing!!! We donate to Goodwill monthly, I buy 4 times a year on Senior day, my Husband is a wood worker, he makes our lamps, waste cans, and I shop Consignment shop for a very nice DQ DQ table from the original DQ in our small town in the 1960's .... Your Home is fantastic ❤
I was "built" in 1943...and live in a 1919 home...furnished in authentic, vintage late 1920's furnishings, my kitchen is 1958 period vintage, with a 1949 O'Keefe & Merritt Range, a 1950 Youngstown Kitchen double basin sink...but a 2000 Kenmore Refer. All my accessories are from thrift or antique shops. Like your radio...I have a collection...all original, working. Repaired and restored. My couches are from the 1940s...so comfortable. Love your home. So great you both share and work on your home! I have my frog figurine collection around the house. The reason I can live as I do...a never married guy! So hard to meet ladies in my area who like vintage...most are modernists!!!

My husband watched a video on Amish living recently and he remarked that we actually hold a lot of the same ideals. A big one being: caring for what you have and keeping it in tip top shape. It’s definitely frugal, lol. Beautiful home you have!!!

I call my style Eclectic Functionality 😁 Like you...I use everything I own whether it is antique, vintage, etc. My bed is a wrought iron bed from the 1800's that I bought at an auction 40 yrs ago. I was having a flashback to the tightwad gazette when Amy mentions about giving someone a tour of their home and finding herself saying “this was from a yard sale, a thrift store, trash pick up, family heirloom, etc. “ Our home has many items like that too! 💕 Your style reminds me of my mother in law, all those cute little decorations and the energy you put into changing things seasonally. It brings her joy and I know it does you too. I choose to paint with very deep, bold paint colors and hardly have any decorations at all and that works for me as I tend a bit towards a minimalist style. In my home I don’t handle a lot of visual stuff going on and hate to clean around it. But I think it’s so cute in other peoples homes!! Love that we can all do our own thing!!

I love this home. It gives me ideas for my own which I am decluttering and downsizing a little at a time. It make sense to practice what we preach. If we are frugal, our homes can still be gorgeous. Finding items doomed for the landfill is a smart way to decorate. I have learned to repurpose many items while trying to be frugal. I turned my behind the sofa table into a storage area for canned foods. It has been a perfect addition to my home. I didn't have the heart to discard the table. It hides a lot of cans now and looks beautiful with the grands pictures on top. Thank you Emmy. You and Paul bless me with each of your videos. 🙂💕❤🙏

What a beautiful home! What really struck me about your converted guest room, your hang out space, was the lack of a TV and the prominence of instruments and a radio. I could totally imagine sitting at that table, playing cards with family or friends, listening to the radio. What a quiet, peaceful space. 850 square feet and cozy.
Our decor is mostly thrifted. We go for vintage, antiques, rustic.
We hardly ever buy retail. We love old, previously loved things. Back in the day things were made better

Love your home its warm and inviting. Love how it is decorated almost for the time period. Open and airy, Love the table cloths and bed spread too. Thank you for sharing it with us. Adding to this you can buy see through vinyl at fabric stores on large rolls. I put that over the little table to protect it and then you can see the picture. It would be worth the extra money for the colors goes beautiful with the room. You may be able to get two out of one piece. I use to use it to cover my table cloth when kids were little. So I did not have to wash the table cloth all the time.

I’m a little late finding this video, but I wanted to say you have a lovely home that is a beautiful reflection of you - and that’s what makes a home homey! I agree with your feeling that the best compliment anyone can give me about my home is that they’re comfortable enough to take a nap on my couch. When our children were teens, one day I noticed that their friends were sprawled over the living room as relaxed as could be. That said a lot, because my husband was their pastor, and they felt comfortable in their pastor’s home. One of the boys said our home was relaxing. I loved it! Finally, I had to stop the video and look at the books on your bookshelf. I have some of the same ones you do on your bottom shelf! That was a blessing to know that you enjoy some of the same authors I do. Thank you for your home tour!

We are Retired couple, we bought our cranberry leather reclining loveseats at a furniture shop they were over ridiculously priced, so I asked the floor sales person if we could have the 2 floor models, Heaven to Betsy, I was floored $750.00 for the pair, genuine leather absolutely Amazing!!!
We donate to Goodwill monthly, I buy 4 times a year on Senior day, my Husband is a wood worker, he makes our lamps, waste cans, and I shop Consignment shop for a very nice DQ DQ table from the original DQ in our small town in the 1960's ....

I was "built" in 1943...and live in a 1919 home...furnished in authentic, vintage late 1920's furnishings, my kitchen is 1958 period vintage, with a 1949 O'Keefe & Merritt Range, a 1950 Youngstown Kitchen double basin sink...but a 2000 Kenmore Refer. All my accessories are from thrift or antique shops. Like your radio...I have a collection...all original, working. Repaired and restored. My couches are from the 1940s...so comfortable. Love your home. So great you both share and work on your home! I have my frog figurine collection around the house. The reason I can live as I do...a never married guy! So hard to meet ladies in my area who like vintage...most are modernists!!!

Emmy and Paul what a gorgeous home you have. It is warm and inviting. Dixie is a beautiful girl. The kitchen and paneled living room combination reminds me of the home I grew up in, gives me a warm and cozy feeling. Paul's coworker was absolutely right it is a living room you want to take a nap in. Your art, furnishings are gorgeous, a lot of love went into your house.

Your style reminds me of my mother in law, all those cute little decorations and the energy you put into changing things seasonally. It brings her joy and I know it does you too.
I choose to paint with very deep, bold paint colors and hardly have any decorations at all and that works for me as I tend a bit towards a minimalist style. In my home I don’t handle a lot of visual stuff going on and hate to clean around it. But I think it’s so cute in other peoples homes!! Love that we can all do our own thing!!

I love this home. It gives me ideas for my own which I am decluttering and downsizing a little at a time. It make sense to practice what we preach. If we are frugal, our homes can still be gorgeous. Finding items doomed for the landfill is a smart way to decorate. I have learned to repurpose many items while trying to be frugal. I turned my behind the sofa table into a storage area for canned foods. It has been a perfect addition to my home. I didn't have the heart to discard the table. It hides a lot of cans now and looks beautiful with the grands pictures on top.
