RotJ is my favorite in the entire Star Wars Saga. I know that the fan favorite is ESB, but this finale in the original trilogy is my personal favorite for one specific reason - the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Call me old-school, but it's the reason why Darth Vader and Zuko from ATLA are my favorite characters of all time. I just love it when villains turn good!
People don't give Sebastian Shaw enough credit for that last scene. Always makes me sad that most Star Wars fans seem to forget about him when bringing up Anakin.
I was lucky enough to see the re-release of it with my dad and a sold out crowd back in April this year. And we all cheered and clapped throughout the whole thing.
I saw this in theaters when i was 11 years old back in 1983, two years ago, i rented a theater and screened all three films for my kids…and invited friends and family, our theater has something called…”Bring your own Blu-ray”….. it was amazing to see it on the big screen with my kids….they’re all in their late teens to twenties, so we had a blast….were going to do Back to the Future next…
Back in the 80’s people used to hate this movie for some pretty good reasons. Mainly because it wasn’t as good as Empire Strikes Back. It had Ewoks that people hated for no reason, less of a darker tone and more lighthearted, and in the special edition it had the unforgivable “Jedi Rocks” song. In my personal opinion, I thought it was pretty good. Granted, it’s not a great Star Wars movie, but it does have some moments in it that make it a pretty good Star Wars movie. Either way, the original trilogy is complete.
Not a great star wars movie? You OT purist only care about what you want to see not what George wanted to show. Your basis for not a good SW movie is based on what? Your standards or Georges? Because your dosent matter. Its your criticism and that is subjective not absolute
Imo, Jedi is my favorite out of the first three. I know everyone’s favorite is Empire because of the darker tone and top tier acting but Jedi has the best music and action sequences of the entire trilogy. I’m not saying the original and Empire had bad music or action. But Jedi’s action is more stronger and the music also feels more heroic as it foreshadows the victory of the Alliance. I think the reason why this film is more hated is because of its shift in tone. This movie was more lighthearted which people did not like after Empire and yeah I can see that. But this movie is also dark as Luke almost went to the Dark Side after almost killing his father. IMO, Jedi is my favorite movie of the original trilogy.
Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker has returned to his home planet of Tatooine in an attempt to rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. Little does Luke know that the GALACTIC EMPIRE has secretly begun construction on a new armored space station even more powerful than the first dreaded Death Star. When completed, this ultimate weapon will spell certain doom for the small band of rebels struggling to restore freedom to the galaxy…

Thought it was April last year (40th Anniversary of the original release date)?
Return of the Jedi to this day is my favorite movie
“You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister...you were right.” - Anakin Skywalker

@@colbywidener7092 FR THOUGH
Ewoks wasting the stormtroopers and walkers so easily undermined the brand and seriousness of the story.

“No, Luke. I am your father.”
That's the previous one, but close enough lol
@@Jurassic1993Park oh.
There's no "Luke" in that line. Just, "No. I am your father."
0:31 fun fact: they renamed the title to return of the Jedi and changed the color lightsaber, since skies were too bright. 12:57 😂
Return of the Jedi was originally scheduled for a Christmas 1983 release but was pushed forward to Wednesday, May 25th.
