  • The military rulers of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso have signed a mutual defense pact. The Alliance of Sahel States agreement commits the three to assist each other in case of an external attack. That could include an intervention like the one threatened by West African states against Niger's junta following its coup in July.

France has a history of military interventions in its former African colonies. While these interventions have been presented as efforts to restore stability and protect French interests, they have been seen for their lack of transparency, accountability, and potential human rights abuses. Africans argue that such interventions have often exacerbated conflicts and failed to achieve long-term stability.

France has always intervened in every way, shape and form!
They wrote the constitution for their former colonies at Independence, making them effectively French provinces controlled by puppets playing the role of a French Governor. Whenever one of these puppets becomes patriotic and starts caring about his people and Africa, France would either intervene militarily to remove him or plot a Coup d'Etat against him. Most nations actually believe Africans are incapable of managing themselves and Africans don't know what's good for their people.
There are some governments within Africa that are beings used to keep the continent divided, one like Benin and Ivory Coast.
So creating a Africa self-defense force is definitely necessary and other nations should join as soon as possible.

France's African war can only be counterproductive without broad local support (and even with local support there's always a significant risk of alienating locals - through culture shock, collateral damage, and the actions of racist French soldiers. I never believed France's intervention would work, I'm sad to be proven right).
France's colonial past, and the lack of free media and education enable the new rulers.
France should be pragmatic (and stop dreaming of an empire that is long gone).
No matter how terrible these events are for the peoples of Africa, foreign intervention at this time will only make things worse.

This talk of "proxy wars", which Sudan most assuredly is not, lets these men off the hook. These are criminals that have committed horrendous crimes and continue to allow horrebdous crimes to be perpetrated on the people of Sudan.
Having said that, there most definitely is interference, most clearly from whatever remains of the Wagner PMC, which has sided with the RSF and is very likely committing acts of genocide in Darfur as we speak, similar to the genocidal acts they have been perpetrating on the people of Ukraine since 2014.
Emirates, Saudi, and the US may also be involved, even though the disastrous creation of South Sudan just over a decade ago is a far clearer example of Washington policy wonks conjuring up a nation and then leaving it to self-destruct as soon as it exists.
