Jack Fessler lol it’s not cheating. You’re calling him dumb, but he’s 100% right it’s wrong but doesn’t give a competitive edge therefore it’s not cheating
There was also the blown call against the Pirates catcher, Michael McKenry, a few years ago that caused them to lose to the Braves in the 14th inning that was also contributed to bringing replay into the MLB.
With the Brett Hull goal, there was a secondary rule at the time. If a player is in pursuit of a rebound and is not fully within the goaltender's crease, the goal shall stand. The only catch, the NHL failed to inform analysts of the rule until after the game happened
The 1993 Indianapolis 500 had a late race restart where the first place, second place, and third place cars all passed the lapped car of Stephan Gregoire (pronounced Greg-wah) under caution, which was a rules violation UNLESS the lapped car explicitly waved them by. Had the proper penalties been enforced (drive through penalties), Raul Boesel should have won the Indy 500 in 1993. The TV broadcast missed it, probably because there was a potential for a rookie winner of the Indy 500, which hadn't happened in 37 years. Boesel's car owner, Dick Simon, protested it (you can find a clip of it on RUclips for a part 2), but it fell on largely deaf ears, because people were paying more attention to Emerson Fittipaldi drinking orange juice in victory lane then (which people are still mad about).
Even after that blown call, Jim Joyce is still widely regarded as one of the best MLB umpires. He rarely makes mistakes because he owns them and takes them to heart when he does.
@Cold Snap The Denkinger call doesn't explain how the Cardinals (a team that led the NL in batting average, stolen bases, on-base percentage, and runs scored during the regular season) only scored 13 runs over the 7 games. It also doesn't explain Jack Clark not being able to catch a pop up on the very next batter or Darrell Porter not being able to prevent a passed ball or blocking the plate when the winning run is on his way home. It also doesn't explain losing game 7 11-0. They didn't even try in game 7. They spent more time bitching about Denkinger than actually trying to win the series.
@@eddixon2015 but 10?!?! maybe they just...weren't that exciting. it's not controversial to say the super bowl generally gets better as time goes on. there have been plenty of GREAT games in the past 10 years alone...
@@StealthyCowbell given my somewhat useless vat of super bowl history knowledge I would break it down like this. Here are the list of games that I would consider to be great games. (For the record, I'm just looking at wikipedia and going off of personal memory and NFL films) The Super Bowls that were great games would be: Super Bowl 10 Super Bowl 12 Super Bowl 23 Super Bowl 25 Super Bowl 32 Super Bowl 33 Super Bowl 43 Super Bowl 44 And like every Super Bowl the Patriots were in minus last one: (36, 38, 39, 42, 46, 49, 51, 52) A couple of the ones that I'm on the fence about are Super Bowl 16 and Super Bowl 4, because both games were relatively close, but neither was particularly well played. So according to this rather rambling comment that you may well not have finished because you likely have better things to do with your time, I would agree with you and say that maybe a Top 5 would be better than a Top Ten.
@@eddixon2015 i mean you could do a top 5 best patriots super bowls and it would suffice. you are right, each one besides the last has been exhilarating.
Vinny Testaverde at the Meadowlands in 1998, Jets vs Seahawks. He was stopped at the goal line and the zebras called it a TD. It was the play that brought in instant replay.

I'm a Sabres fan, and even I know Hull's goal was a good goal. The rule was clarified mid season, and allowed for a player to possess the puck and be in the crease.
Why does my brain work in a way that allows me to hold it together for all of this but burst into laughter at "It says you're blind" ? ^^ I mean yeah that's funny but...come on
As someone who wasn't emotionally invested in the game at all, the Fail Mary was probably the funniest NFL thing I've ever seen live other than the Butt Fumble.
The reason why the Brett Hull goal was reviewed and stood was because the NHL issued a memo to teams stating a player who had control of the puck before they entered the crease could legally score - they declared his first blocked shot to be a pass to himself. SB Nation did a great rewinder on this play.
From the perspective of a Norcal loyal sports fan. Mike Bibby being elbowed in the face and every other call basically in the 2002 WCF could make up this list. And also the Tuck Rule
The sad part about Gallaraga blown call is if Miggy had just covered first and let the second baseman get that ground ball, they make the play nice and easy, no chance to fuck it up
That Tigers game was painful. We nearly finally had our first perfect game.....then it was taken away. I was watching live with my younger brother and all we could do was scream in anger (I was 12 and he was 7).
The Hull goal was legal. Part of the rule was something about a change of possession or something like that and Hull got the puck on a rebound from his own teams shot so there was no change of possession and was allowed on the crease
Based on the way the refs had called the rule that whole season, however, it was the wrong call. That is what upset the Sabres and rightfully so. It was a stupid rule and poorly written and communicated...but you can't change how you call it in the Finals.
Maybe if you believe the ridiculous story that there was a "memo" that was distributed to the teams privately, which is a total fabrication and cop-out of Gary Bettman's. The fact is that those exact types of plays had been disallowed all season and post-season up to that moment. The Bruins had a near identical goal disallowed in their first round series against the Hurricanes, as did Phoenix against St. Louis.
People always say, but it's just one call, but some calls weigh heavier than others. Plus the thought of having a corrupt ref or ump starts to creep into the minds of the players.
Your mention of the England and Argentine fans fighting in Mexico City, was not just typical behavior. Both countries had just been involved in the Falkland war against each other and this was the first time the two countries had played a soccer match against each other since.
You missed the Lewis Hamilton grassy drive in Germany 2018. For those that don’t know, Hamilton was driving into the pit lane (and was in the clearly marked entry lane) when he made the (after) last minute decision to stay out on track, driving over the grass that separates the entry lane and the track. The rules state clearly that this is a major infraction and carries a hefty penalty. The stewards, however, decided a stern talking to was good enough because the team “candidly admitted the mistake and the fact that there was confusion within the team about whether to pit or not.”
Well it was under safety car. The FIA has always been far more leanent towards these types of things under the safety car. Plus that's no where near the worst non penalty in F1, it's not even the worst missed penalty of that season
Before the video started i said "i bet the Gallaraga/Perfecto and Saints whiffsky are both in the list"... after 1st one, feeling real good about my prediction
Actually there was some weird loophole about receiving the puck from a teammate that apparently made Hull’s goal legal. Supposedly, since he was rebounding his own shot and not receiving a pass, it was legal for him to shoot with a foot in the crease. SB Nation has a good rewind on that game which explains it
2005. Old Trafford. Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur. 89th minute. Pedro Mendes' long shot from almost the halfway line against Roy Carroll who blundered the save. The ball clearly going over the line and goal not given denying Spurs a 1st win at Old Trafford in decades!
Packers fan here. I was more furious about the nfc championship game. But yeah, the fail Mary was also miserable. Especially when you live in bears country and had to go to school the next day.
There was a rule that was not made clear to the public (no idea why) for the foot in the crease rule. It stating that if a player maintained control of the puck and took it into the crease the goal would stand. That's why the goal stood.
My worst call of all time definitely is “hand of bullsh*t” goal at the 1986 World Cup, and had the digital experience came two decades sooner, INSTANT SENT OFF VIA RED CARD, no questions asked.
Jeff Ng I guess that’s part of the lore of the Hand of God. It was such a creepy setup too. England and Argentina recently at war killing each other over some sheep islands. The fans brawling. Tons of pressure to win. And this was before instant replay and social media. It’s now history. Crazy how it works sometimes
You needed to include the 1979 Rose Bowl. Final score: So. California 17, Michigan 10, but it REALLY was So. California 10, Michigan 10, Refs 7. Unfortunately those 7 were given to USC as a touchdown when runner Charles White obviously fumbled the ball to Michigan.
I remember the aftermath so well, only Seattle fans felt that call was right, the team knew they got away with it, the Packers and the fans thought it was wrong, and every neutral person thought it was wrong, every media pundit thought it was wrong. At Seattle is a nightmare place for the Packers to play at for some reason.
The NFC Championship was not a missed call. If you watched rams games, they got bullshit calls all year. I’ve been saying it ever since LA bought the rams, the NFL would want them to win it all
1966 World Cup Final: England vs West Germany. Wembley Stadium, London. Tied 2-2 in extra time, striker Geoff Hurst’s “goal” was allowed to stand despite never crossing the goal line. The Swiss referee didn’t have a good angle so he asked his linesman if it went in. The linesman was Azerbaijani and couldn’t communicate with the Swiss ref, so they let it stand. That ended up winning England it’s only World Cup. I think if it wasn’t at Wembley they may have overturned the call; I wouldn’t have wanted to overturn it facing 95,000 English fans. If Germany didn’t win 4 World Cups it’d probably be the most crucial call of all time. But they aren’t upset in 2019 and jokingly say they “let” England win something. Ironically, in the 2010 World Cup, the 2 teams played each other in the Quarterfinals, going into extra time again, and Frank Lampard’s strike was called a no-goal despite clearly crossing the goal line. Germany won on penalties and got their revenge. :p
The reason the goal of the stars was allowed is because the rule stated : "a player can have his foot in the crease if he has control of the puck and do not disturb the goalie job" (not the exact words) and the reason it is so controversial is that some say he had his foot there before he had control of the puck
the brett hull goal was the correct call. after his first shot the sabres didn't take possession and he got his own rebound. that means there was never a change of possession and since his foot was in the crease for the initial shot the second shot was considered a continuation of the first one.
Add the missed fair ball on Phillip Ervin's would-be double in Milwaukee to this list. Clearly white chalk flew up when the ball hit the ground. Cost the Reds a chance to tie.
Leon Stickle missed offsides call - with the puck a foot+ outside the blue line, game 6 of the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals... considering the stakes, that NYI won the game/Cup in OT, I think that has to be here.
Nebraska vs K-state in 1998. Nebraska's last offensive play in the loss had the QB sacked by having his face mask pulled down. Their was 5 yards between them and any other player. No penalty was called.
Lol! Love the three blind mice in the background. Also, WTH is the point of the goal crease in hockey any more if you can score with your foot in there?
it's a 'protected' area for the goalie. If you're standing outside the crease and a goalie tries to move past you to get to make a save, there's a decent chance that the goal will be allowed and not called back for goaltender interference. If you're in the crease and you slightly impede the goalie's efforts to reach the puck, there's a strong chance it gets called back. Aside from that, it is also helpful for the goalie to know their exact position in reference to the goal without having to look back at it.
The perfect game one makes me so mad. 23 perfect games. Ever. EVER. In 210’000 games. If I was the pitcher I would have gotten thrown out because I would have attacked him. I would have beat his face in if I could have. I sort of feel bad for Jim Joyce because he knows he blew it. But god damn..
A spokesperson for the MLB said either the day of the game or the day after the game that they decided not to overturn the call. They decided that there was a second missed call earlier in the game (maybe second or third inning? I don't remember exactly) where a Cleveland hitter had beat out a throw to first but was called out. The perfect game should have ended there. The MLB felt that it was unfair to overturn the blown call in the 9th and not the earlier blown call, and the result of overturning both would have kept it a 1-hit game anyway, so they decided not to take any action over the game. It really annoys me that no one in any video or comment ever mentions this. It seems like everyone likes to forget what actually happened and just idealize the situation so they can feel justified getting mad about it. Personally, it feels like justice that if the game didn't deserve to be perfect, it didn't end perfect.
Reg and Stuff what actually happened was that he got 26 straight batters out and the umpire called the 27th safe when he was out by a mile. That’s like saying the saints shouldn’t have been mad about the blown pass interference in the nfc game because the refs missed earlier calls against them in the game. One of them ended their season. One of them cost this man a place in the history books. I don’tcare about what happened earlier in the game. I was also saying what my reaction would have been if I was the pitcher, not what should have happened.
@@lilxtra6211 Your analogy doesn't hold because we're not talking about simply winning or losing a game. We're talking about perfection - indisputable perfection. If all someone cares about is winning or losing, then yes, certain calls will affect that, but there are infinitely many factors that affect if a team wins or loses. The Saints have every right to be salty about a bad call, but it wasn't the only thing that cost them the game. They still gave up the ball, let the Rams drive down the field, gave up a field goal, gave up an interception in overtime, and gave up another field goal to lose the game. You could say that any of those things cost them the game, just as much as the blown call did. Unlike with winning and losing, there are no extra variables with the Tigers-Indians game because we're not talking about something achievable in an infinite number of ways - we're talking about perfection, which can only happen in one specific way. I'm amazed that you think that one bad call (the should-have-been hit) is excusable and that we should forget about it, but two bad calls (should-have-been hit and the final call) or zero bad calls (reversing both calls) are unacceptable. The Tigers already gave up what should have been a hit, meaning that their only way to achieve perfection was already forfeit. It didn't deserve to be a perfect game and thankfully wasn't. If it had gone down as perfect, it would be undeserving to have that honor amidst the other perfect games that actually earned perfection.
I'm sick to death of the Cubs, Cards and BoSox whining about losing the playoffs because of fan interference, a bad call and a muffed play. All of these occurred in the 6th game; each of those teams had a chance to win it in game 7; all failed.
The "Fail Mary" was called correctly, upheld by replay, reviewed by the head office, and STILL upheld. They had simultaneous possession, which goes to the receiver. Green Bay fans need to stop whining.
Hull was in possession of the puck before he shot, he shot the puck, Hasek saved it, Hull gained the rebound, entered the crease and scored the goal. He was the sole possessor of the puck and thus was allowed in the crease. Its a bad rule that was poorly worded but Hull's goal was not the crease rule.
As a Honorable mention could be the Steelers versus Patriots game when Jesse James didn't survive the ground even though the rest after the game said he did it should have been a touchdown and it cost them home field advantage in the playoffs
I find it funny that it all depends on what team It happens to on whether it's a blown call or a failure to adjust or score more points I got no sympathy for teams that blame blown calls

Justin Cantrell I love it
Fts
Same
Its probably mostly because in week 4 of that year I predicted Saints vs Chiefs to be the super bowl
It was so close... 😔
I loved the Atlanta Falcons schedule reveal, as it poked fun at the no-call PI with a ram running over a Saints fan in the video!
Brent Granger 😣😪💀
I just hope Boston wins the Stanley cup. The city hasn't seen a championship in roughly 4 months. Coming from a Lions fan, that is too long 😂
Justin Robarge go blue
Even after that blown call, Jim Joyce is still widely regarded as one of the best MLB umpires. He rarely makes mistakes because he owns them and takes them to heart when he does.
I assumed the Game 6 call was going to be on here before I clicked play. Cardinal fans still think we stole the 1985 WS.
Oof. Starting off with my Tigers’ missed Perfect. 😟

Do top ten most underrated Super Bowls
bruh there's only like 53.....the top 20% underrated super bowls? More like 3
@@StealthyCowbell Idk man, there were a lot of old Super Bowls that a lot of modern day fans don't remember.
(For the record, I'm just looking at wikipedia and going off of personal memory and NFL films)
The Super Bowls that were great games would be:
Super Bowl 10
Super Bowl 12
Super Bowl 23
Super Bowl 25
Super Bowl 32
Super Bowl 33
Super Bowl 43
Super Bowl 44
And like every Super Bowl the Patriots were in minus last one: (36, 38, 39, 42, 46, 49, 51, 52)
A couple of the ones that I'm on the fence about are Super Bowl 16 and Super Bowl 4, because both games were relatively close, but neither was particularly well played.
“Hey, Ref. Check your voicemail, you missed some calls.” I’m dying! I’ve heard that one and I’m using it.
That's when you hand the ref your phone and say "Maybe now you can make some calls today"
Dam Son. You’re killing me all over! That’s a good one.
EDIT: I don’t know how to edit on the iPhone. Obviously I meant I’ve never heard that one.
"Hey ref check your voicemail you missed some calls" holy shit lmfao fucking Savage !!! 🤣🤣🤣
Vinny Testaverde at the Meadowlands in 1998, Jets vs Seahawks. He was stopped at the goal line and the zebras called it a TD. It was the play that brought in instant replay.
I love your videos man. It’s like Christmas every time I see a new sports video no matter what sport it is
The referees here in Scotland are sponsored, ironically, by specsavers opticians
"His foot was in the God damn crease! It was IN THE DAMN CREASE...!"
😂
Three blind mice in the background.... I see you👏👏 Another great video👍
Can’t forget auburn vs. Virginia in the final four. Double dribble 😔😔
Double dwibble!
"Hey... Hey... Hey!?!? What's your record for taking Tylenol PMs? Mine's twenty-six..."
*pops a pill*
"Hey... Twenty-seven..."

I'm a Sabres fan, and even I know Hull's goal was a good goal. The rule was clarified mid season, and allowed for a player to possess the puck and be in the crease.
Brett Hull had the puck before entering the crease and never lost possession. It was a good goal.
Why does my brain work in a way that allows me to hold it together for all of this but burst into laughter at "It says you're blind" ? ^^
I mean yeah that's funny but...come on
I’ll get ya eventually:)
@@FivePointsVids always have;)
Btw: BOTH comments get one?? You are my hero, my true best RUclips friend!
Keep crying 😝 haha go LA
The sad part about Gallaraga blown call is if Miggy had just covered first and let the second baseman get that ground ball, they make the play nice and easy, no chance to fuck it up
That Tigers game was painful. We nearly finally had our first perfect game.....then it was taken away. I was watching live with my younger brother and all we could do was scream in anger (I was 12 and he was 7).
You know, there very well could be a certain Game 5 Stanley Cup Final play that would’ve made this list if the video came out a few weeks later.
UN: Did you take the Falkland Islands?
England: yes
UN: what did it cost?
England: everything
Yep, 8 more years of Thatcher as PM.
The Hull goal was legal. Part of the rule was something about a change of possession or something like that and Hull got the puck on a rebound from his own teams shot so there was no change of possession and was allowed on the crease
Hulls goal was legal check out sb nation, they did a Great video on it.
Louis.
I love the pastrnak cameo in the beginning lol
Part 2 fo sho
Christoph5782 what can I say, other than I’m a Hamilton hater? Yes he is top talent driving the best car, I just don’t like his whining persona.
gonzalbo87 Oh I don't like the guy either lol
Before the video started i said "i bet the Gallaraga/Perfecto and Saints whiffsky are both in the list"... after 1st one, feeling real good about my prediction
Did they ever change the gallaraga call (no idea how to spell it)
He literally called it. The NFL has blown the whole challengable P.I. Rules.... he called it
Actually there was some weird loophole about receiving the puck from a teammate that apparently made Hull’s goal legal.
1:03 YESSS THANK YOU. I bet my friend 10 bucks that this call would be in the video and I won XD. Thanks
I’m surprised there was no 2002 wcf. Since mike bibbys nose was actually bleeding everywhere. And it happened 5 feet from a ref
Great video as usual bro. The baseball references were lost on me but definitely agree with the rest!
Packers fan here. I was more furious about the nfc championship game. But yeah, the fail Mary was also miserable. Especially when you live in bears country and had to go to school the next day.
Love the background music, nice video
5:37 I see nothing wrong with this play. Totally clean. Play on.
Turner Kirby the ball wasn’t even close to the wr and he was already knocked to the ground
I’ve been saying it ever since LA bought the rams, the NFL would want them to win it all
9:11 how the hell did you NOT include lawyers in that zinger? that one was an absolute layup
Lol that Pasta commercial though
The reason the goal of the stars was allowed is because the rule stated : "a player can have his foot in the crease if he has control of the puck and do not disturb the goalie job" (not the exact words) and the reason it is so controversial is that some say he had his foot there before he had control of the puck
Love the hockey throw in!
Should of added the Gretzky high stick that costed the leafs the series against LA in 1993
Go Kings Go 😝
great job another great video keep it up i look forward to the days you upload because they're always of great quaility
Thanks David
Part of me thinks Armando Galaragga would not be as well known had Joyce gotten the call right.
the brett hull goal was the correct call. after his first shot the sabres didn't take possession and he got his own rebound. that means there was never a change of possession and since his foot was in the crease for the initial shot the second shot was considered a continuation of the first one.
Add the missed fair ball on Phillip Ervin's would-be double in Milwaukee to this list. Clearly white chalk flew up when the ball hit the ground. Cost the Reds a chance to tie.
Nhl playoffs this year
The foot in the crease will hurt me deeply until the day the Sabres actually win one... if they ever win one.
It's possible now now that we've cleaned house in the front office. Let's hope we can get some competency this time around though.
Leon Stickle missed offsides call - with the puck a foot+ outside the blue line, game 6 of the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals... considering the stakes, that NYI won the game/Cup in OT, I think that has to be here.
Everybody knows it was a perfect game. MLB should recognize it.
Aside from that, it is also helpful for the goalie to know their exact position in reference to the goal without having to look back at it.
jon mendelson That all makes sense. Thank you for the explanation.

Was going to say this
The perfect game one makes me so mad.
Reg and Stuff that’s not how it works but whatever have your terrible take I’m done arguing
MLB doesn’t need the replay system. It rarely works, they don’t only miss obvious calls but they also forget about some rules occasionally.
I'm sick to death of the Cubs, Cards and BoSox whining about losing the playoffs because of fan interference, a bad call and a muffed play. All of these occurred in the 6th game; each of those teams had a chance to win it in game 7; all failed.
They changed the rule for Brett Hull before that season, if you have possession of the puck then you could be in the crease.
The "Fail Mary" was called correctly, upheld by replay, reviewed by the head office, and STILL upheld. They had simultaneous possession, which goes to the receiver. Green Bay fans need to stop whining.
Even the Rams CB looked around like "seriously?"
2015-16 NHL playoffs Panthers vs Islanders. Trochek was Tripped.
I find it funny that it all depends on what team It happens to on whether it's a blown call or a failure to adjust or score more points I got no sympathy for teams that blame blown calls
big brazilian fan of your channel but you missed that "infield fly rule" between Atlanta Braves x St Louis in a wild card game.
Ciro André Machado as a cards fan I still agree that was a horrible call
