My sister had the album this was on, and I heard it a lot as an 8-year-old kid. I remember thinking he was talking literally when he said "I once was blind but now I see" and was confused because I knew he was still blind.
Just fabulous. Loved this when it was first in the juke boxes in the early sixties. Has been my favourite song ever since. R.I.P Your music legacy will live on and be appreciated and loved.
This song makes me feel so much.. Happy that I have great memories of dancing with my guy to this...but sad because it meant so much..I was the fool & he was careless with my heart...broken hearted..love this song so much
I like Ray Charles. A lot. And I must confess I never even heard this song until the season ending episode of "The Deuce" played it at the end. Good stuff.
I saw this man in concert and phenomenal is just the tip of ice berg with this man. Saw him at a venue hear in Michigan called Pine Knob it's called DTE now. He do a flawless set then go to the bar that they have their and do another one he was awesome and too top it all off a great person.

Every other performance I've heard gives this sad song a quick, imo, upbeat tempo. I think a slow beat is much more appropriate
