Looks like an incredible climb!
Great summit guys you make my old soloing videos look safe!
@@seanfair2330 thanks man! Jefferson is pretty dicey!
Appreciate the raw footage. Nice work!
Why a rope to traverse if you aren't putting pro in? Rule 2 in a no fall zone is probably something like dont drag your partners off if you fall. Glad you're all down safely.
We had planned to place more protection but didn’t feel the need once we got closer to the summit block. We ended up rapping down as well so it came in handy. Thanks for watching!
To verify, you turned off the trail, SW of Pamelia Lake walking up the old mud slide area where the trees are all downed? I'm looking at it on Google Earth.
@@TimKaseyMythHealer yessir, it’s a cleared area from avalanche I believe. Once you get there it’s a straight shot up directly towards the summit.
Good job
@@zhilwansamiy9731 thanks man, we had a ton of type 2 fun!
those Parmesan goldfish are the best lol
@@GotDamBoi should have brought a bigger bag!
What kind of experience do you need to climb Jefferson? Are there guiding companies to tackle this?
Jefferson! Pedialyte? Where’s the baby food? I dig the full feature length style. Super sick to be able to see the technical part.
@@TheQuackyQ damn you watch all of it! Would have loved to have you up there with us man. Jefferson kicked our ass’
Thanks for showing the highs and lows in full detail. Great summit push. How many rapells did it take to descend off of the summit ridge? And what length of rope did you use?
@@jaredempey5706 thank you for the feedback. We ended up using a 7.7mm 40m sterling rope. Repelled from the summit block only. 40M rope worked for us but I would probably bring a 60M if I did it again 🤙
@huntervoris7779 thanks for the info. Did you think that the 40m rope got you past the worst of the descent or did you have to do multiple rapells to feel like it was safe enough to down climb?
Hey what route was this? Any estimate on what degree the steepest snow was?
@@andrewoakoutdoors9353 bro, I have been following you for years! Legend! This was the Pamelia lake trailhead, you will get to a cleared section a few miles up the trail. We cut directly up from here and proceeded to the summit. I’d say the last 50 feet are around 55-60% but not completely accurate.
@@andrewoakoutdoors9353 also I loved watching your documentary on RUclips. I’d love some to see more long form footage of the bulgers if you ever get around to it.
@@huntervoris7779 Thanks! I appreciate it! Ross might be putting together some extended Bulger material of just kinda unused footage and more raw climbing footage. I could talk to him about it. A lot of it is helmet footage and jumps around but could be something.
I’m looking to do some more steep snow climbing this year, probably my weakest area of mountaineering skill.
@@andrewoakoutdoors9353 I would definitely be interested in seeing more shaky GoPro footage, that’s what most of mine turns out as anyway. Maybe we can link up and hit some volcanos together sometime!
@@huntervoris7779 Yeah, I haven’t climbed very many in Oregon
Super sketch. Good job on making the summit and down safe, but man soloing as three with a rope tied together is really questionable tactics. And around 38 minute mark what is going on with that belay? You have the biner that’s supposed to brake the rope attached to your sub-optimal anchor. This biner should be only clipped to the rope and the keeper wire of the ATC. I’m wondering if that would have caught a fall at all? Also, this biner is also clipped improperly to a sub-par anchor. If either piece blows it’s going to slide right off the end… please lemme know if I’m missing something, but combined with telling your buddy how to hold an axe right before that no-fall terrain, I think ya’all got lucky. Again, no disrespect intended just stay safe out there
