  • Just a few C4 placed in cavites to simulate a shot (there are turrets 1 steel block away), this is what would happen should your shield drop for a moment and a rocket hit this area (which happens to have a block missing JUST FOR A LIGHT?). Fun times! Enjoi the fireworks!
You should never, ever put fuel tanks near anything targetable (ai) - and you most certainly shouldn't put them near Advanced Generators, and you most certainly shouldn't put Advanced Gens 1 1/2 vent block away from T3 shield caps ^
Lovely ship, lovely designed, RP wise - beautiful! Shields down wise? ooft!
For anyone interested in shield explosions:
T1 Shield Caps req 1 steel block thick around them (can have a armored windows to see them), else they do a 3 block explosion radius.
T2 Shield Caps req a min of 3 blocks thick of steel wrapped (personally I use 1 layer of blocks and layer of windows and then a layer of blocks and then a layer of vents).
T3 Shield Caps... .. just don't let your shields go down!

I see your point, but, having actually used this ship as a shield and at times armor tank. Your nose will disappear and both cockpits well before those spots get hit. Its not the best armor tank but 'a rocket' is not enough. Personally I think putting the core under the combat cockpit is all you really need to do to make sure this explosion has no real chance of happening. The core will be removed and the rest of the ship will be left alone well before you hit the overly explosive areas. Have not needed to do this. You know well before you risk this that things are going bad. However, it is said many times that its a primarily shield tank. Don't let your shields drop while surrounded so something can scrap your sides and rear. Armor is only in the nose along with the decoys.
If your really worried about it, change the steel to xeno or combat around those parts, but I would have been fine with plastic.

That's not true, especially if something sneaks up behind you after desyncing.
And if the aim is to let the front of the ship die first.. Then putting the cockpit there is a waste of time.
Imo fill front with baits and blocks, use the weird square room for it (or elsewhere at the back)
Block up around the adv gens. Remove that vent and half blocks, and replace with full xeno. Might look a bit worse but atleast if your oddly placed edged adv gens blow up then the shields and everything else don't go boom!
Empyrion is famously laggy on big servers.. Single player I'm sure this would be fine, but for MP I wouldn't want to take the risk for the sake of a few small tweaks.
