Some years ago I had a minor calf injury which kept me off running for 8 wks...
I took to the pool for that time- hour a day- just back and forth in the pool.
My first run back was a 10k- and I remember how phenomenal I felt- like I had 2 pairs of lungs !
I often wonder just how much running runners actually have to do for optimal running performance,
when other endeavours can clearly have running benefits also. My best half-mar' was also off the back of big bike mileage taking place of long runs...

I often felt my best running when at school swimming 5-6 hard sessions a week and only about 2 high quality runs a week.

Can you ask Beth what kind of injuries shes gone through in her running career? I'm currently going through one right now and it sucks.. would love to hear how she overcame those if she got injured

Funny how many elite runners start out as swimmers. You, Gwen Jorgenson, Chrissy Wellington, Rich Roll (well he's not an elite runner but freaking amazing just the same) to name a few. I wonder if it gives you that aerobic foundation for future running success and avoiding injury whilst young. Or maybe some people are just good at everything 🤷

Most definitely ! I am an age group triathlete and i have been developing my run / bike speed each season until covid hits, pools got closed in my country and not only got i slower but my stamina in general went down the drain ! so disappointing tbh
