Ah.... the good ol' anthology film that became a big thing in the 60's/70's here in the U.K. We were spoilt for choice, with both "Vault Of Horror", and "Doctor Terror's House Of Horror" also being goodies if you enjoy this one Jen.💀
I am so pleased that you reacted to this film. I do hope you get to react to some other horror anthology films from the 60s and 70s such as Dr Terror House of Horrors, Vault of Horror, From Beyond the Grave, The House that Dripped Blood, Asylum, Tales That Witness Madness, Torture Garden.
The segment with Joan Collins, "... And All Through the House," was later used in the 1989 HBO TV movie pilot for the HBO Tales from the Crypt television series, directed by Robert Zemeckis, along with "The Man Who Was Death," directed by Walter Hill, and "Dig That Cat... He's Real Gone," directed by Richard Donner.
I started a Christmas Eve tradition of watching the first segment right before going to bed. I love the mid century decor mixed with typical English traditional.
From Rivera22, great reaction Jen as always, this was one of my favorites as a kid. 2 more of the best anthologies the UK has to offer are, Asylum and The House That Dripped Blood, both with Peter Cushing. My favorite haunted house movie of all time is from the UK, The Legend of Hell House, 1973. Very atmospheric and nostalgic if you know what I mean, you would love it. The first 2 films are on Tubi, I too am a big fan of Tubi. Your attention to detail as always warms my heart, have a wonderful and safe week.
Oh my, I love this movie! I saw it with my beloved Mother when it was first released. I was 13 and it was as fun and scary as heck! When the hand came through the door in the Joan Collins story the entire audience jumped 10 feet in the air!!!
I always felt that the Monkey's Paw guy who really did nothing wrong had no business being in the crypt, situation mostly wasn't his fault, it was his wife that caused all the problems. Also, technically he wasn't dead at the end.
Great reaction to this wonderful British horror movie Jen!. It's a great anthology and the follow up/sequel also from the comics called "The Vault Of Horror" is also well worth watching and has some great stories. This was one of Peter Cushing's best performances, made even more tough to watch as he'd lost his wife in real life shortly before filming this. The picture of the woman in the photo frame he uses was his actual wife. Other awesome British anthologies to check out include Dr Terror's House Of horrors, From Beyond The Grave & The House That Dripped Blood, all of which have some great stories.
A couple of spin-off films to the HBO series were made, "Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight" and "TFTC: Bordello of Blood". The first is my favorite, but both are hilarious, splattergore fun.
Another classic with Peter Cushing. Glad you chose this one. No need for gallons of blood in order to creep. And, believe it or not, this movie was rated PG.
Fun fact: my grandfather wrote the novel for this as well as doing the Christmas segment for the EC comic. Tales From the Crypt is streaming on RUclips. Had a lot of great stars in it: Demi Moore, Bill Paxton, Joe Pesci, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry…lot of fun.
I read the paperback novelization of this in 1974 right before I saw the movie in the theater so I “read” a lot into these stories in the film . I became obsessed and then discovered the classic EC horror comics . Oh for sure you could react to those comic panels … amazing artwork and stories ! I’ve read the entire EC library . Where all the series stories came from as well . Great choice ! 👍🎥🎞✌️
Vault of Horror might be next? Amicus productions... portmentos.....short stories wrapped around a main theme. They competed with Hammer horror films of the time....even using Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Sorry can't find the crypt series...yet. Great stuff Jen.
Cool reaction as always Jen, you take care and have a nice day and most of all, cheese and rice 🥰❤️ How about reacting to The Dark Night Of Scarecrow (1981)
This film and its sequel 'Vault of Horror' were Inspired by the 50's EC Comics of the same name. Although British made the American comics on which the stories are based would have been largely unknown at the time. Previously the UK had had numerous low budget horror films made in the Hammer horror era and EC with their famous surprise plot twists were a good source of new material. Sadly the comics were discontinued during the crackdown on comics and introduction of the code authority (basically self censorship - it's a long story) but not before inspiring the likes of Stephen King who paid homage to them with 'Creepshow'. The 'corpse' in the later TV show is the Crypt Keeper played here less creepily by British actor Sir Ralph Richardson. The TV version didn't hold back with the gore or adult content although it attracted a virtual who's who of Hollywood stars clamouring to be on the show. There were also two spin off horror features released and a kid friendly cartoon series. Fun fact 'Weird Science' was a Sci-fi EC title to get the Hollywood treatment years after the fact and also a humour title that survives today called 'MAD'...
A Vault of Horror movie was also made.Maybe you might want to see that. Also, have you seen Tales from the Crypt presents Demon Knight?I can’t remember if it was on your list, but if you haven’t seen it yet,it’s a good idea to watch it.
Thanks for another great reaction, Jen! Just so you know, not all of the stories in Tales from the Crypt are from the original Tales from the Crypt comic book. "...And All Through the House" with Joan Collins is a story that appeared in The Vault of Horror comic book, and "Poetic Justice" and "Wish You Were Here" (based on the short story 'The Monkey's Paw") both appeared in The Haunt of Fear comic book.
The 1982 movie "Creepshow" directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King is also an anthology of short horror stories and was meant as a nod to the horror comics published by EC comics like "Tale from the Crypt".
The Crypt Keeper was a real coup in casting: That is the one, the only, the great Ralph Richardson. He was a classically trained actor, a contemporary of the likes of Laurence Olivier, and he made several magnificent appearances in movies. Notably, he is the father in "The Heiress", playing opposite two other gems, Olivia de Havilland (Melanie in "Gone With the Wind") and Montgomery Clift. Here is he is giving us levels in a simple scene from a movie I don't know and now want to watch: ruclips.net/video/SQed52AOpL8/видео.html
In the Peter Cushing episode, the woman in the photograph is Peter's late wife, Helen. He was still in mourning when he made this film.
I've been hoping someone would do this one. A lovely level of grue. I used to hunt for it every Halloween.
Joan Collins recreated her segment in a recent season of American Horror Story. That was fun to see.

All from Amicus films.
I saw this on my 12 th birthday in 1972. It scared the hell out of me

So glad you watched this movie. I love older anthology movies like this. The Grimsdyke story breaks my heart every time.
"The Monkey's Paw" is a classic tale, with quite a few different film/TV adaptations.
The razor blades scene = nightmare fuel!
I started a Christmas Eve tradition of watching the first segment right before going to bed. I love the mid century decor mixed with typical English traditional.
Some of these stories were also used in the TV series you remember. It’s interesting to see the different interpretations of the same stories.
This was a great choice, Jen! 😁 The Vault Of Horror would be a great watch, too

Have not seen this in years. True classic...
The key to any great anthology film is the wrap around twist. I feel that's what was missing from Tales of Halloween.

What a great choice Jen someone else mentioned From beyond the grave and they're right a must see.Thankyou for this reaction.👍💓🇬🇧
Thanks for watching! I’ll add it to the watchlist 🎬❤️
this is my first time watching this person, and i LOVE how she keeps saying cheese and rice XD lmao
*Oh, I bet you’ll love this one.*
I also got to see this projected once, a real treat.
Reminds me of the old Pan horror anthology books.
😊😊😊😊
One Dark Night (1982).
the thing that wrote is called a Planchett. for spirit writing
Love these British anthologies from the 70s. The new one is 2017's masterpiece Ghost Stories. Brilliant
I highly recommend 1972s Asylum. It’s another anthology film that gave me the creeps. 😱

I recommend From Beyond the Grave from 1974 that has a similar theme
This is a great one. I'd also add Tales That Witness Madness (Joan Collins is in this one).

Thank you! I’ll have to look into the comics more 📖

Great stuff Jen.
A comment below mentions Vault of Horror etc. Made by Amicus Productions like this one, they're all great.
More oldies please x
Great reaction from a great anthology film! 👍🏿
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video 🎬
If you haven't already, check out the film "Tales from the Hood" (1995)! It's like a remake of this film with a black cast!
I’ll add it to the watchlist! Thanks for the suggestion! 🎬
Cool reaction as always Jen, you take care and have a nice day and most of all, cheese and rice 🥰❤️

Cant recommend the show enough. It's a treasure trove of who's who
The Tales From the Crypt series is hard to see these days. It was originally on HBO but is only available on RUclips now.
The Uncanny 1977, 3 stories in one
"Dead of night" 1945, did the anthology thing first.
Now u need to do the vault of horror. All the tales from the crypt hbo episodes are in RUclips 👍

Joan Collins 😍🔥
Barnabas Collins 👺🔥
