My BFF Katya Jones on female friendship | Monday Mile with Aimee Fuller

Katya Jones is a dancer and choreographer, known best for being a professional dancer in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She won the competition in 2017 with her dance partner Joe McFadden and was also part of the first ever Strictly Come Dancing same-sex couple with Nicola Adams. Aimee and Katya also competed in Celebrity Hunted together which Aimee says was ‘a wicked experience and I’m so glad I got to share with my best friend.’
Aimee and Katya record the special episode during a three-week adventure earlier this year when the best friends travelled to five different locations in India and then on to Sydney with only a backpack each.
During this once in a lifetime trip they walked a mile together and chat about their friendship, the incredible bond they have, how they continue to motivate and inspire one another and how important it is for females to empower and support one another.
They also discuss Katya’s passion for sustainability and trying to live more eco-consciously, how she’s influenced Aimee to try and do the same, encouraging Aimee to try more second-hand shopping and sharing their wardrobes.
Katya opens up about staying private online, how she chooses what she shares and why it’s important for her to have those boundaries. She also says that she has learned to disconnect from the views of others - it ‘does not define’ who she is. They end their walk by discussing Katya reaching 35, how growing up has made her realise that women can be ‘happy and fulfilled on their own’ but she still thinks about her ‘maternal clock’ and the future.
