    Big chain store don't sell them because they work great and really only need to buy them once. No repeat customer needs.

    I've been scouring for folks successful in using just sponge filters in larger aquariums. I've had a cascade canister filter for a very long time and I've hated it from the beginning. In an angry frenzy around 3am after I had to get up and calm that canister yet AGAIN I ordered not one or two but four extra large double sponge filters. Then of course reality kicked in and I wasn't sure if I could use em successfully in a 55gal. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Your aquariums look beautiful and very well kept. I feel much better in my decisions. I feel confident to burn I mean sell that darn canister.

      Hahaha! Sponge filters are superior in my opinion. Canisters have their place in fancy aquariums that allow you to hide the filtration much easier. But in open tanks or if you can cover them up with plants etc, it makes an amazing and simple addition to aquariums with superior filtration quality as long as they’re maintained.

      @@AquatikGuru I'm so excited! I've been using a homemade sponge filter while breeding Bettas and that tank I swear is always pristine! Excellent parameters and healthy happy baby fish! I should have given up on that canister sooner! Thank you again friend!

    I like the doubles, but any sponge filter is better than HOB in my opinion. I do use HOB to polish water in tanks I needed, just hang on front for a few hrs with some floss/fiber fill instead of cartridge.

      I agree. I use a powerhead with a pop bottle full of polyfil instead of a hob

    with a decent air supply the longer the lift tube the more flow. You want more flow get the filter as low as it can go and get the top of the lift tube at the surface. simple.

    • @AquatikGuru
      @AquatikGuru  2 года назад

      Yep. Most people don’t supply enough air. I supply a TON of air. Making them work both when the tubes are low or high. Allowed me to make a great circular flow that left no waste on the substrate

      density vs pressure. lower in tank = higher pressure, longer lift more bubbles =lower density and more acceleration. Zoom!

      Let me know how it works, mine are fairly quiet but as with most, popping bubbles can be a lil noisy to some.
