if you're a fan of Exile, this and Coney Island, also look up weird goodbyes! All this collaborating between the national/bon iver/Taylor was started by the same guy Aaron(?) dessner who's mainly in The National but played on tour with Justin and Taylor separately and introduced everyone :) we owe that man everything for these collabs!

No, not at all, love - carried me through a storm I could not travel alone, is more liken to the truth.. Your still growing wondrously, too. 😘 "I rarely ponder that": and I don't mind getting lost in a forest when town is near.
🤺🙄😅😅A few more people {they drive nuts}: that {{crash through their doors}}; might speed things up. 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂💁‍♂How, did I get the flip side! Again!!
🤔🥰🥰🤔🤔 Precisely: hopping to at least still be friends, at the public (à la carte); is a good thing to hold onto.
Yea, no kidding, bro: she can fracture her environment, in her tossing and turning. Struggling to break free from ones comfort zones is liken to having old knees. It's painful, as long as you want it to be. = All the time in the world to sleep, and it only brought more pain being idle. That one was a surprise, to me.
I'll hold onto that prayer for you: that's a journey I rather take then waiting for death here. 😘😘😘😘

I asked my ex (physical abuser I was still in love with at the time) how long it was going to hurt as bad as it did when he said I wasn't loved anymore, after 9 years. It's like the cardigan video scene where she is flailing for anything to hold onto. I told him it felt like Inwas falling down a well with no bottom. I have my answer now. It took a little over 3 years, pandemic plus one.

. Hope ur recovery road is easier now. My heart to ur heart. Physical abusers are so hard to leave so hard to love so hard to hate. So hard to leave.
      So
      Hard
      To
      Leave.
      Thank God
      We finally left
      Regardless the catalyst that catapulted
      Our dumb asses.
People ask. How could u stay.
      Why not leave.
      Can u answer that question?
I've tried over the years now to answer that in truth.
I really felt and thought with all my being he would some day wake up and realize I was so good for him. To him. With him.
      But in real time truth.
We were so volatile even just in the same space. Not to mention a marriage life.
Miserable was the word is the word that comes to mind looking back , looking inside.
I fou d an old journal.that I'd kept for the better part of 23 years.
Holy shit batman 😢 almost RVRRY ENTRT has the statement in some frame of words " why doesn't he love me like u love him"
I could not see from my perspective. So blind
So stupidly believing I could love both of us enough to help him not want to hit me. Over and over and over again. For any little reason.
Hit me again mother fkr. Do u feel more like a man?
Id dream id kill him bury hos parts but id always be discovered. And my only emotion was damnit ingotncought. No remorse. None.
I would pray and ask god to let sharks eat him.or od pray he wouldnfall from scaffoldings at work and id get a settlement.
      Now who the horrible person.😢
His fists made me who i am not.
      My devotion kept him mean.
      His stamina was relentless.
Thank you God for allowing me to escape.
      I left 7 times
I went back to him out of pure loneliness 6 times.
The 7th time I had a plan a real plan.
He was working overseas. Fuking finally!!!
      Girl I ran so fast
      So fast.
      I never stopped loving him
But in that same breath, I hated him so dam much it helped me stay gone.
      Stay strong hunny. Please. Remember.
Every day above ground is a good day. And every day u don't have fist in ur face is a perfect day.
      Stay away. Will it.
      I believe in u.
As a woman too I know
      And if u know , u know.
      Jump.
Jump as high and as far as ur Lil ass feet will take u. I guarantee God will catch u with his GRACE.
      AS I SAID

The older Taylor gets, the more mature the relationships in her songs are. They aren't about just that young passionate love. These songs are also about people who are older and have understanding. These songs like Coney Island and Exile and The Alcott are so much relatable to people who are grown ups and been in painful relationships for years and regret the small things that they ignored cuz they felt weren't important but now they know what was wrong but cannot undo it anymore.

Isn‘t a bit disresspectful to assume, that the lyrics describe one of Swifts relationships, though she is only singing the backing vocals? Man, that is a National song. Thats why the lyrics are so much better than the Swift lyrics you usually hear.

One of the most beautiful modern day duets, that's pure genius by the National, @taylorswift and @aarondessner! The way Taylor manages to weave back and forth first harmony, then back up, then the dueling, ultimately fueling a goosebumps crescendo is nothing short of genius because most duets have solo and Co sections, the singing and narrative doesn't weave back and forth as much. For a sad that's heart melting and uplifting at the same time - hats off! I've been hearing on repeat for hours, it's so energizing!

    • @jimwilliams3816
      @jimwilliams3816 Год назад +5

@iKazed, yes from interviews with the band, I believe I understand that Matt wrote the song, they sent it off to Taylor, and a few hours later she sent it back with her sections written. I feel pretty sure she wrote all the lines she sings solo, mostly because they contrast so strongly to the way Matt writes. I relate to his lyrics because they are heavily about spending decades with one person, and the pervasive sense of personal failure that comes from trying to be something that you can’t pull off, and failing over and over. Taylor’s lyrics contrast for me because they are more oriented toward a relationship falling apart and ending...”give me some tips to forget you” being the most obvious. Even when Matt is singing about endings, it’s different after decades. “There’ll come a time I want to know I was here.”
But on the other matter of credit, yes. I understand fans who absolutely love Taylor, but I always hope they will acknowledge the people she collaborates with too, because the world is full of great musicians to discover. (I came to Folklore and Evermore via Aaron.)
There were lots of Taylor fans saying “thanks for turning me on to Big Red Machine,” and I thought that was great. I was less comfortable with the reactions I read to the “featuring TS” version of Gasoline by Haim. I was hoping that the comments would suggest that TS fans noticed Haim, and I from what I read, I wasn’t sure if they did. And since that was an alternate mix, there really wasn’t any way you could like that song and not have it mean you liked Haim’s work.

And I'm fully aware that she wrote probably only her lines in the song - and I just pointed out how beautiful and how Swift-ish they sounded but Matt's writing on this one is also phenomenal. I didn't mean to offend anyone and I didn't mean to point out that she wrote the whole song. It's 100% kudos to the National, but Taylor's parts are also so good.

Through my dad's recovery from alcoholism and my later therapy for depression, anxiety, and PTSD, I've learned a lot about codependency and that's what Taylor is referencing in here. Really key to song IMHO, two people who know they are bad for each other yet keep cycle of reconnecting and breaking up.

I can’t remember the last time a song has hit me this hard. It’s truly a masterpiece as merely a work of art. The words is heartbreakingly beautiful and the twist from … “the last thing I wanted” to …”the last thing I wanted” is as mind blowing as any manuscript movie plot I’ve ever seen. I’m a huge fan of TN and Matt’s deep captivating sincere and heartfelt voice, always have always will be. Having said that this collab couldn’t be better. TS is angelic throughout and their storytelling reach climax when TS begins to echo “answering” Matt’s chorus lines. TS humming and harmonies are stunning. This is one of those few songs that I can honestly say will stay in me forever. A go to song to enjoy, admire and embrace whenever in need for the state of serenity only music can give me. I cried the first time I head it and now having heard it +50 times it’s the same. The feeling of this amazing duet is so immensely beautiful 🦋 that the only thing I can think of to compare it to would be the fraigile whispering sound of butterfly wings passing you on a spring morning while walking barefoot in the mist grass on a medow, sensing the due in your breath as taking the blessing of life all in. Conclusion: I’m in awe of just how good and perfect a song this is 🙏🏻 TYSM
