Best demo of transfers ever. Simple, good music, not over chatty, bit of humor. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
So helpful! Excited to try!
Now I have to learn how to silk screen! Thanks
Awesome! Thank you
Love this.
Thank you Kyle
Great video. I learned something new. Loved your teaching technique.
Thank you. I have found I am my best student.
Very interesting…..I think I wanna learn more and give a go.
This is really cool, thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
interesting and fun stuff :) thank you for sharing this helpful explanation and demo of your process 🙏🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciate how straightforward you made it seem! I haven't made a silk screen before so that would be the intimidating part for me (and committing to a design!)
Your end products are great
You can do it its not that hard to make a screen. Plus there are places now where you can send your design and they will make a screen for you.
@@KyleDarnellArt thank you!
Beautiful work. I want to learn how!
Thanks for teaching me about Gelli Plates. Just ordered one. Neat work, keep on with it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome!!!
Thanks!!

Goya
Cool.
very nice
Thanks
This is very informative! Thank you!
I think you’ll be happy to know that you can make repeat patterns in Procreate.
I tried it out on procreate and wasn't super happy with it. I'll try it again.
what brand of rice paper do you use for the printing, i am a silk screen printer by trade and i am very interested in making my own transfers, have you ever done any white on black with the underglaze?
How did I miss this. Apparently you can use any old rice paper, the cheaper the better. I have found dress patterns work best for me.
Great demo! Does the medium keep the underglaze mixture from drying out? Wondering for a slow moving friend. 😁
No not really, It probably makes it dry faster if anything because it thickens it up.
Do you know if you can paint colored slip or underglaze on top of transfers then stick them on? I know you can use a transfer to paint on different designs & layers, but if I were to buy a transfer from Sanbao (that you mentioned) & painted the designs colors I wanted before sticking, will that work?
That works but it helps to put slip on the pot too. Helps it release.
Thanks! 🙏
Hola! muchas gracias por compartir! Pregunta: usas engobe o esmalte para la serigrafia? Que numero de malla es el shablom?
It is thickened underglaze. And the silkscreen mesh is 110
Can you link to the rice paper you use?
I thought stroke and coat was a glaze? I haven't used it but was wondering about trying it?
It is a glaze. I have moved away from it to Amoco velvet underglaze.
If you make paper transfers, how long are they “good” for? Do you have to use them right after you make them?
I have let them sit for years and they still work fine.
Where does one get the jelly plate 🧐
I really should've put a link them in my description. But it is a Gelli plate, and you can find them online at really any place you find art supplies.
oh another question: what if I'm using something flat? How do you get the pressure for the transfer?
If its flat like a slap of clay I just silkscreen right on the clay, way easier.
thanks
i'm confused tho,
u are glazing for a bisque fire?
so these are only bisqued?
also, why did making transfers not work 😢
i need to make some
They are transferred onto wet clay, bisque fired, then glaze fired to cone 6.
Will the screen printing medium work with different brand underglazes? Amaco is reeeeeally expensive in Australia
Hmm I think so, but also I think you can make your own underglaze which would be drastically cheaper. I think it's called "Engobe"
