This Les Paul Tribute is an amazing guitar. Hands down worth buying. I picked one up in a guitar shop in Iowa for 700 bucks. Plays amazing and has become one of my favorite guitars to play out of my arsenal of guitars. 🤘🏽

I stopped playing for a long time. Sold all my gear. After taking care of my elderly, retired, mother during a severe knee injury, she bought me a brand new, satin cherryburst tribute in February of 2022. Came in that black padded gig bag. Those 490 pickups are smokin' hot. I really wanted a standard, but settled for the Tribute. Glad I did. It is a real Les Paul. I love mine. I prefer the Tribute over the Studio which costs more. I'm getting a Standard soon but the Tribute will always be my go-to axe. Glad you got one Mitchell my brother. Happy pickin', thrashing, and shredding. 🎸🎶❤😊👍

I've have an iced tea one. It's a killer guitar. I did have an experienced luthier address the nut for some micro adjustments that made it play just as good as any production les paul.

My first Gibson Les Paul is a 2016 50's tribute and for the $600 i paid it is excellent! I also now own a 2022 50's Les Paul
standard that cost me a lot more! Both are really great but i do prefer the Standard for many reasons.

I really love the tribute. Mine is from somewhere 2021 so I’m not sure how big of a difference that makes.
In a future video I really want to compare it to a standard sometime.

I bought the Honeyburst 2022 model. There are some refinement issues like the nut needs filing and a few other things but I love it and I have always loved Strats. Still do but this tribute is fun to play.

Nice video. The maple neck is not a traditional Les Paul wood although it has come and gone before (late 70's on all models). It is much less expensive wood, less expensive to apply a finish. It is typically more stable than mahogany, brighter with more sustain. It is an excellent choice to both bring down the price and bring other qualities to the table. GREAT JOB. Because of you I think I may buy one of these.

I have a 2016 gold top tribute Gibson lp. I like yours better though, it looks great and sounds perfect. They didn’t have those when I bought mine, what I really want is a ebony standard but those are out of reach as far as price. So I’ll just have to wait for the one to show up in my price range. Thanks for the ride…

I actually totally loved the gold tops and they weren’t available when I bought mine. Funny how that goes.
Deep inside we all want the standard I think but the price difference is huge. And as I said I do believe playing wise this one does it all too. Someday I’ll get a standard too but this one absolutely scratches the itch for now.

Most important thing to make sure of when buying a guitar priced at a certain point is that it still needs a proper setup.
I bought a Standard in 2002 (a 2001 production model) and played it with factory setup for ~20 years.
After having swapped so many different gauge strings on the guitar, it was time to replace the nut.
I picked a luthier (not a wholesale shop) in Groningen who replaced my nut.
And boy, what a world of difference.
Not sure why I never thought about having it serviced before. It had a very high action and a bow in the neck, both caused by a BAD factory nut.
I can really recommend doing this (even though €170 for a nut replacement, full setup and and a set of strings isn't expensive it all, not everyone has the budget to have this done)
    But again, well worth it.

    • @socialmeaslesinpartnership1252
      @socialmeaslesinpartnership1252 6 месяцев назад +1

That shouldn't come in at more than $80.00 or so. It's true that when you buy a new high-end guitar, you have to factor the set-up cost. They don't leave the factory all set-up because everyone is different so - they leave room. Neck relief according to string choice, adjust the factory nut to suit (skilled job) and the bridge action, stopbar tension - between $60.00 to $80.00.

Excellent review. Everything you want to know and a comprehensive playing demo. Dude is mean player, knows what clean-or-dirty actually means, knows that controls matter, case-or-carry-bag etc.
Is it a real Les Paul? I agree with him - it is. Mine is Gold Top with mahogany neck and one-piece mahogany body - the rest all as he says. The timber and hardware is all the real deal - it's a real one. Don't leave it around backstage or someone will steal it - it's a real one.
The hardest thing to understand is why Gibson do these short "runs" and chop-and-change each year instead of reliably churning out their most accessible and desirable Les Paul-and-other-Tributes for years. Bunch of idiots? Not my problem, I've got mine.
Is it good? Absolutely! But take a listen to his most very excellent demo for yourself. I'm not getting rid of mine...... that's for sure.

This is weirdly my favorite LP… mainly because of the weight relief. The only thing that could make it better is if they offered a version of it with a bound body and neck. I’d pay an extra $100 - $200 for that. I know it’s just a cosmetic thing, but what can I say… we get more inspired to play by the things that look “pretty”to us.

Weeellll......my experience with this guitar didn't go so well. Not only loaded with defects, but I continued to read on through the reviews farther than I did before; many of the defects are recurring. Some really bad mistakes, in terms of how easy it would have been to avoid, detect or correct them. just bad. I sent it back. And because of the commonality of these problems I got something else. Too bad, it could have been a great guitar.
