1. don’t carry 2. contact under the ball 3. avoid double touches 4. set above your head when back setting this is all about how you contact the ball when setting. Super fundamental & no complicated explanation needed 😂 but really good to practice this 👍🏾
his form is infinitely better in the correct way. He has a solid base and isn’t moving like he is in the incorrect one and he sets the ball from his forehead like you are supposed to. Having proper hand placement is important
Not true. First off all, don't use your back, keep the ball in front of you, step with your right foot, hands solid and up early, keep the ball on your forehead, and use both hands evenly
@@Advita.Thakurit says for beginners, how are beginners supposed to know the difference in the videos. it could be the feet, hands, where the hips are facing. i play vb but if i was a beginner, this video would be hella confusing
As a middle blocker I think the setter on the video is very skilled. It is very hard to tell from his hands Position, posture and legs If he is going to toss the Ball Front or back. Many times setter has specific hands and body posture when they plan to toss the Ball behind. This is easy to read and react. Really good video. 👍
Most obvious thing I can point out as an okay setter is his hand position. Elbows should be at ears which is actually very important. Without having your elbows there, its actually really hard to then have a good hand position which makes it hard to generate power with your wrist. If you set this way, it becomes very inefficient very quickly and you don't want that habit. With a good hand position (and ultimately whole posture), you are much more primed to generate power with your wrist. Using your elbows primarily for power can make your sets inconsistent and also makes it hard to get off a good set when for example you have to run for the ball and dont have familiar form.
Tbh advice is good , but for this basic one there is absolutely no need as one can repeat the video over and over to easily spot the difference. For a beginner its essential to develop observation skills, too. If those sets look the same for a beginner, it just means he/she doesn't pay enough attention.
@@TunixgutI'm a beginner and I am starting my training all alone, no team, no coach. I haven't played competitive volleyball in my life. I want to learn how to set, but all I see in this video is X and ✓. I don't have experience to judge what's right and what's wrong, I haven't seen real setters play to observe their movements either. I only understood that carrying the ball is wrong and setting the ball over the head is right, but I already knew that just with common sense. All I need is a proper explanation, not "developing observation skills" (not to be offensive)
@@davitharutyunyan875 That's the thing. You don't need to be an expert to spot what is the difference or what is right or wrong in this video. The more you discover for yourself, the more it sinks in imo. I could give you detailed advice on every little thing in this video, but if one can't pay basic attention on their own, all that advice would probably be for naught. So for starters watch closely the position of arms, hands, fingers and legs aswell as the general motion, position and tension of the body. Try to break every movement in little pieces and spot differences. If you think, you've spotted someting, just ask about it again and I will tell you my thoughts on it. Furthermore, I wish you fun and a good learning experience playing volleyball. :)
In 1st set he carried it, in 2nd he yeeted it making it innacurate and badly timed + ig it would give time for enemy to block the spike and 3rd was gentle set that was accurate making it easier to spike the ball and gave less time for Defenders (idk if what im saying makes sense, im just trying to Understand what he's doing so i can get better at Volleyball)
The one thing that helps me is when you set take it slow dont keep on flicking the ball towards your hitter, it always result in the ref calling a bad set😂
Since i was young i used to know that in volleyball and basketball once you hit it with all of your strength it will be very bad and not be long, you have to hit it smoothly it will be very long without any efforts.
1. ball was carried because it was received low, deep, and was held way too long 2. Never set the ball behind your head. The setter was not in the correct position to receive the ball, so they resulted in setting with the ball behind them, and moving too much before they set. They should have moved to get into the ready position faster, then set the ball with control. 3. The hands are not even and fall away too quickly. Remember to follow through and have a balanced, even hand placement from beginning to end 4. set was taken at chest level. It should be taken in the same/ nearly same position as a front set would with minor adjustments
could you do a video of how to toss the ball? (idk if there's a special name for it) im talking about how to throw the ball or pass it using your fingers idk how to do it propperly and when i do it sometimes i make like the sound of hitting the ball
in an actual volleyball game, ball will be coming from any direction with random force and will be handed to the setter in so many ways. adjusting is all there is. so even the Xs count. sorry.
what is considered lift/carry and what not? it's so confusing, sometimes I see a backset or back pass and the ref called it a foul, some other time they let it slide.. 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Everyone else: Talking about the sets Me: Dang that’s a good set..I really wanna hit that. Just look at that, it’s even perfect for my left handed self to hit, amazing..😮
the thing is when the ball is over my head i try to set it but i always end up mostly spiking it by accident im still trying to get better at setting does anyone have any tips?
For those who don’t understand, he is setting the ball in front of him, and above his forehead.
unless it’s a backwards set, how does that help “those who don’t understand”
nah its about (not) carrying
No he’s lifting it
1. don’t carry
2. contact under the ball
3. avoid double touches
4. set above your head when back setting
this is all about how you contact the ball when setting. Super fundamental & no complicated explanation needed 😂 but really good to practice this 👍🏾
The only difference is your not carrying it that doesn’t help me as a beginner

It’s all in the wrist not elbows
It’s also all about using your legs and his fingers are in a good spot too, and not getting them hit by the ball
I think elbows are important too, at least that's what i feel. I'm a Setter too
Not true. First off all, don't use your back, keep the ball in front of you, step with your right foot, hands solid and up early, keep the ball on your forehead, and use both hands evenly
beginner advice: simply set good. just don't set bad.
Now teach me how to set better
Thanks
I miss the time when tutorials on yt actually were tutorials
The only differences i see are the ❌️ and the ✅️😂
Huh really? that was good explanation.what you didnt understand?

1st one is also considered illegal
Aye man whatever works, for that 2nd one if you have to set behind you because the ball is back there then might as well
It’s interesting u used your leg to give momentum and power. Thanks a lot sir
This post doesn’t help any beginner if you don’t explain yourself. To beginners, those sets look practically the same.

Ion think the ref supposed to care abt ur sets...
I mean unless it's palming.
in the wrong ones his fingers bend but in the right ones his fingers are strong and don’t budge
Since i was young i used to know that in volleyball and basketball once you hit it with all of your strength it will be very bad and not be long, you have to hit it smoothly it will be very long without any efforts.
Setter is talent..
There's a clear difference, but I just don't know what the technique is since I don't know that much about volleyball
i dont see the difference 😅
yes kkkkkk
Explanation:
Don’t keep the ball, flick immediately.
Backward set is to set not as high.
1. ball was carried because it was received low, deep, and was held way too long
2. Never set the ball behind your head. The setter was not in the correct position to receive the ball, so they resulted in setting with the ball behind them, and moving too much before they set. They should have moved to get into the ready position faster, then set the ball with control.

4. set was taken at chest level. It should be taken in the same/ nearly same position as a front set would with minor adjustments
the difference is that u use ur hands and wrists instead of using your whole arm, watch how his elbows bend alot during the incorrect parts
They made a new rule where the ball can have spin when you set because usually sometimes if it has spin, it doesnt always mean its a double in reality
Volleyball name or brand and also how to purchase sir plz rply
could you do a video of how to toss the ball? (idk if there's a special name for it)
im talking about how to throw the ball or pass it using your fingers
idk how to do it propperly and when i do it sometimes i make like the sound of hitting the ball
I’ve been playing volleyball for 10 years (setter for 6) and I do the second one a lot when I’m dealing with my teammates’ bad passes lmfao
Double touch is allowed now there was a rule change, but yeah I get why the clean set is the best
How to exercise your fingers to look good like you? Plisss
in an actual volleyball game, ball will be coming from any direction with random force and will be handed to the setter in so many ways. adjusting is all there is. so even the Xs count. sorry.
As a beginner, I can see differences, but I don't know if you're talking about good form or illegal sets.
I can see the difference, but I cant quite apply it😅😅😅
My thumb got injured when we were playing
what is considered lift/carry and what not? it's so confusing, sometimes I see a backset or back pass and the ref called it a foul, some other time they let it slide.. 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
How not to set as a volleyball beginner: Don't be a beginner.
i think hes trying to show us to not push it via from the chest cuz its a "carry" but rather instead from above the head
i love how this guy explains EVERYTHING
Qell yeah you're tossing the ball softly and it don't always comes that softly
sand in my eyes
My friends always do the first one and it’s so annoying
How should I do the right one I tried many times but the ball never gets that speed unless I hold it and throw it
This is peace
His wrong pass even perfect.
First one is great for beach tho
Wouldn’t the first set count as holding?
I would not recommend carrying the ball as you can start a habbit
I feel like he carries (holds) the ball a bit too long🤷♀️
same shit different angles lol
if you truly wanna improve as a beginner pay attention to all the details
Everyone else: Talking about the sets
Me: Dang that’s a good set..I really wanna hit that. Just look at that, it’s even perfect for my left handed self to hit, amazing..😮
First one is foul or not..??
How to avoid double touch
I only got 80% of that… I think
Where are you from sir
What’s the difference?
Comment ça mon reuf?
Tu vois bien qu'il y a des différences
He is taking the ball too low
I think it’s the form and the way he releases the ball on each one. Look a little closer and you might see it.
Look at where he catches the ball in each example. In the correct ones it is always going towards his forehead.
Please tell that differences
its more like a commercial to present how not fit or capable you are tho.
I dont get it can someone explain simply?
Ok please send this video to Maja Ognjenovic
А мяч нужно же пальцами отбивать?
Why not the second one
the thing is when the ball is over my head i try to set it but i always end up mostly spiking it by accident im still trying to get better at setting does anyone have any tips?
