Balor always reminded me of Sauron in the myth that I am familiar with. Not only was he associated with a terrible eye but he had nine servants. I think it may have been inspirational to Tolkien. Whethor subconsciously or not.

What you neglected to mention that Lugh was 1 of 3 brothers. Balor suceeded in killing 2 of them when they were babies while Lugh was cleverly hidden, just like Zeus was from his father in the Greek myths.
Actually Lugh was a triple god meaning he had multiple forms or aspects the idea of three brothers was created by British archeologists trying to make sence of the three headed figures they found in Irish art.

This channel depicts Ancient Irish as Masculine warriors when in reality they were quite the opposite. In reality they were unwarlike and constantly conquered by neighbouring peoples. The channel owner is probably Irish American. 🇮🇪🇺🇸

These are Myths. You know Hercules isn’t real right? Or Thor, or Ironman. Just cool characters and storylines made up by cool people, so regular folk could have a little escapism……….Doesn’t matter if you were listening to this be told as a story 3000 years ago or you watched Infinity War in the cinema 3 years ago. It’s the same thing.
