Hi Roy i recently watched and enjoyed you singing at the pub after Pete St John s funeral , i have always loved Irish music with The Dubliners and many others , Donegal Danny was lovely
What a beutiful voice. How does a man so young generate such emotions??? I feel like I was on the boat and died, and you are singing my story. That's a rare gift.
Sorry that I am late to the party. I was excited to hear Phil Coulter play his piano, in his music room, surrounded by his many awards. I was brilliant. I was blown away by Roy’s haunting voice. The best version I have ever heard of this classic song. Thanks for sharing. Slainte’
Coming from a fishing town like Arklow this song always struck a good chord with me. My Brother in law Danny Murphy (R.I.P)was a great fisherman who owned a Boat named the Olive Leaf. Danny started fishing when he was only 9 years of age. We had many great sessions over the years and being a ballad singer myself this song was sang on numerous occasions. Well done lads , really enjoyed the version
What a singer love this song listening to my father sing it growing up it's stayed with me no matter what part of the world I'm in Irish music is special and fair play to Phil coulter
So true ! Amazing lyrics but the delivery Roy brings its as if this song is his own, seeps into the core of our Irishness we can all relate stunning song and delivery
Such a passional rendition of this musical piece. Just wonderful when you can actually decipher lyrics. Love Roy's raspy voice which so suits the narrative.
I just discovered Roy in the past few months through his FB gigs and thought over Christmas that I would love to hear him sing Donegal Danny, as his voice is like the sea - Raw & powerful! This hasn't disappointed, my now favourite version of the song 😃
@@roybuckleytv This song has always been a special one for me as I visit St Johns Point every year.I have photos as a kid in St Johns Point Light house. What a great version, nearly brings you back to the pub and Donegal Danny. There are many fishing stories that need to be told, the Irish fishermen are a hardy breed. I wrote a song, a true story about the sinking of a Killybegs boat named the Skjford, she sank in 1981 off Burton port Co.Donegal. Its called Lost at Sea by Paddyman. I also recently arote another fishing song song called My old man and me by Lucaz Byrne. If Roy is looking for new material it would be amazing to hear him sing them. :-)
Hi Tranquility cruisers - a Happy New Year to you all, and to Phil & Geraldine. I missed the lounge this morning so hope my comment doesn't wipe out Meg's.

I watched it the first time you guys did it and went off on a RUclips "Roy Buckley" rabbit hole and am now am avid fan of his good self too 👏🏼👏🏼 you've a marvellous voice Roy, so clear and with an old head, I love it, I feel a trip to the Emerald Isle (or my hearts home as I like to call it 😉) for some gigs, keep up the amazing work boys. Danny 🇮🇪💚🤍🧡
