This obviously isn't meant to be the main way he charges his car, but just say of topping off the battery whilst his car is parked and the sun is shining

I can only see this being useful for people that don't drive very often or more useful for old nissan leaf owners who don't want to buy a new battery.

3 hours to charge it to 77% to 80%... I drive an ev and this is dumb. For a full charge from your panels alone it would be like 200 hours or likely 30-40 days.

@@jq3mjqi546 even a full scale of a single house solar system is just enough for charging your EV without using anything else in the house. I have a solar system with an ev at home.

Cool concept, the EV “power banks” are just to over priced at the moment if you’re charging at home. Scheduling after 10pm is pretty cheap. Also only charging about 20%-30% daily. They should figure out a solar power bank charger that can charge you up in 8 hours or so. That would be sick

SO that is like what in terms of range on the road? 10 miles? 15 miles? I can kind of see the use of this sort of thing on an EV or hybrid cross over on a camping trip. You know, you got power for all your gadgets and then why not get some bonus charge on the car? No, you're not gonna go far on that over a day or 2, but hmmm...its bonus as you eat your hot pancakes you made on your double 1800 watt hot plate powered off the solar generator along with the cold beer you got out of mini fridge......... Ok, that's kind of a gross combo....

One day you will fry your Tesla's onboard charger and void your Tesla's warranty by charging it with that cheap, high frequency, transformerless Jackery power station. All it's going to take is for a single MOSFET or IGBT to short to ground in the DC boost state of this inverter and because that Jackery unit provides no galvanic isolation, you'll pass high amperage, DC current to your onboard charge which damage it or even set your Tesla's charger on fire.

So roughly 1 percent per hour. And 1 percent on a 300 miles range tesla is about 3miles per 1% with maximum solar exposure. So if your commute is less than 12 miles a day and remote work in your car, you can i definitely drive the car off solar on work days. This not bad, how can this be optimized to push more ?

    • @ToolsElectroDIY

that's very optimistic right.much less, or even 50% on a cloudy day.
