I have one question and is not to disrespect your knowledge. Would it be better or can you place at the last 2 metal plate (pressure plate & last metal disc) to have them together to be able to measure the clearance of the clutch pack and not chip the friction plate with the feeler gauge?
Until now im able to see a video that actually shows the way of measuring the clearance of the clutch pack with a wire gauge because i was breaking my head what tool to use....until now that i saw this video.
The 4 clutch drum will have the retaining snap ring groove higher so one more fiber and steel plate can be installed. In most cases, a 3 or 4 plate drum can be used. A truck used for towing should have a 4 plate.
Baumann and Transgo recommend using F3LY-7B066A friction plate to add an additional steel & friction, that's from the original 3 to 4 to fortify strength & durability.. is it worth it, in your opinion?
Hi Ken. I have a question about the axial play in the 98+ AODE mechanical diode attached to the direct drum, is it normal? The one with the roller as shown in your video has no play at all. Thanks
@@badshoeproductions Thanks Ken. So there's shouldn't be a play with the firm roller type, but it's normal to have an axial play of. 017" and also a radial gear play of. 020" on the mechanical diode type
sorry i have watched so many videos before and after on this thing because i want to do it correct htefirst time and had asked the question in several places, in your video its (15:31)
i bought a complete kit to rebuild the 4r70w well it seems that when i got to this rev clutch pack that 1 of the teeth are missing on the inner part of the papers is this common for them to do this ??? it fits but when i notice small things like that i question the part
BadShoeProductions bad speed sensor and range sensor but this is my 4 trans and it went in perfect thanks to my helper mr. Ryan Jackson but I Pat myself on the back for the perfect rebuild first time :-) and thank you and the other guy i talked to on youtube for the help
Thank you for this bit of info! Was worried about clearance being a little over but learned it will be fine.
Thank you for a good video from Russia!

You could and I do that in one of my other videos however, I don't believe there's any danger of damaging the fiber disk with a feeler.

Glad it helped.
What is the difference between 3 clutch and 4 clutch? I have a 3 clutch with a badly burnt drum and want to replace

Maybe for a truck build but I think 3 fibers are fine. Understand it only applies on reverse.
@@badshoeproductions I can't thank you enough, Ken! Cheers.

Normal.

The mechanical diode works like a ratchet wrench. Just like the wrench, there's a little play between the clicks.
if that metal ring is split (not complete circle) does it need to be replaced, i assume it does but i am having a difficult time trying to find one
Which ring are you referring too?
@@badshoeproductions there was a metal ring that went into the drum just before that dished (domed) spring went on after it (video part 3, 14:42)
sorry i have watched so many videos before and after on this thing because i want to do it correct htefirst time and had asked the question in several places, in your video its (15:31)
The reverse drum piston has a ring that the Bellville spring rides on. This ring is normally split as well as rings used the C4, C6 and AOD.
So is this what's called rebuilding the transmission?
Understand that this is only a 15 minute clip from a detailed 4 hour video.
Is this the same for an 4r70w in a 05 f150
Sure, this is the same for any AODE/4R70W.
Where is the original video
The complete four hour video can be bought from www.badshoeproductions.com

There may be a number of fiber disk teeth missing which is normal if they are equally spaced. You might find the originals are the same way.
BadShoeProductions no old ones have all there teeth I guess these ones were in a fight lol
You can send me a photo if you like so I can make sure there's nothing wrong there.
BadShoeProductions its a modification they made trans is in drives fine however i got a trans fault i had 5 codes pop up and 2 sensors are bad .
