- Which one is the most metal pickup?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Guitar: FGN NCLS20, LTD EC1000, EII HORIZON NT2
Amp: EVH 5150 iii 6L6
Cab: Hesu 212 with demon speaker
BKP were as expected, far more punch and full sounding while the EMG's were well..EMG's...less punch and weight. The Fishman were almost a mix of BKP and the EMG to my ear. I grew up a MASSIVE EMG fan and still love them but as time went on going back to passive pickups was a whoa moment...trying these out in different guitars will also play a role in this test no doubt...bottom line? Own multiple guitars with BKP, EMG, Fishman, Seymour Duncan's and you'll be set. \m/
Thanks for the video man! I was think about swapping my EMGs for Fishman's but now I'm thinking I should stick with what I've got. As much as I want the Fishman's I think the EMGs sounded better.
ive recently ordered a schecter km7 mkiii artist with fishmans, they do sound really awesome! i also have a ibanez sixfdfm with sentient nazgul 7. for me, the nazgul is straight up brutal, while the fishmans in km7 has some character. can do brutal on gain channel and another voicing for funk blues style. both sound really great in whatever guitar and what style you play with.
also had 81/85-7 before on my other ironlabel 7. they sound reallly good but sort of generic in a way. nazgul sounds more natural while fishmans are really, for real versatile
just my 10cents.
Sick riffs man
Thanks:-)
it feels like they all did a good job and although there is a difference it is sort of negligible
the gallops on the fishmans were insanely good. love the bkp tho. hard choice.
good playing
I listened many review of pickups this day... but nobody adjust the eq or gain of the amp to have the best result i think.... i know thats isnt the correct way if you do that but at the end is liike compare MESA, PEAVVY, ENGL or any amp with the same configuration or not? 🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for the triplets demo they all sound amazing, I wanted to go for an 81X but now I wana try the fish fishman
Btw what pedals are you using?
It’s Horizon precision drive😄
Definitely prefer the BKP here !
How is that setup for bedroom playing ?
Use a loadbox (twonotes captor) to connect the amp😄
how is the output on the BKP compared to the other 2?
bare knuckle sounded clearer easier more defined than the fishman. emg have 10 times less "information", the other 2 are like hifi pickups
GREAT VIDEO, EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. TO ME THE FISHMAN SOUNDS BETTER.
JUST PUT FISHMAN IN MY MAIN 7 STRING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING ISSUES WITH ACTIVE CIRCUIT HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE GOING BACK TO LAST SEPTEMBER WHEN I FIRST CHANGED THEM.
BUT GOOD TO KNOW IT'S NOT BEEN FOR NOTHING.
ALSO LOOKING TO REPLACE GUITAR BUT QUESTIONING SPENDING 1K ON A GUITAR ONLY TO INSTANTLY GUT AND REWIRE IT.
Yes, fishman pickup wiring is little bit complex because it has active and passive voice, I don’t know how to connect so I asked my friend to help for wiring😄
1K usd can buy a very good guitar, for example LTD 1000 series. 👍
bare knuckle all day long :) with that said all of them are great pickups
Polaris huh ;) what are the other songs, I feel like I recognize em
Yes:)
Fish an sounds brighter to me than the rest.
a lil polaris?
The thing is that you are comparing 3 different guitars not just the pickups
Yes, just for reference:)
Surprising results. For me:
1) Bare Knuckle (musical and with really nice punch)
2) Fishman Passive
3) Fishman Active
4) EMG
Having said that, I would expect active Fishmans to perform much better in the mix.
which is your favorite?
they are all my favorite, emg81 good for post hardcore and metal core, BKP aftermath good for djent and progressive metal, Fishman similar as EMG but more clear.
One of my favorite things about the Fluence Modern pickups is that even on the active pickup voicing, you still get some really nice dynamic character in your pick attack compared to an EMG 81. On top of voice 1 being a very dynamic active voicing, you could play without a boost in front of your amp and depending on the amp you're playing through you don't even really need a boost in front of your amp if you don't want to use one, which allows you to nail some really cool old school Death Metal guitar tones. Voice 2 is also very interesting because it has a nice low end thump to your pick attack like the Aftermath, but it's also tighter while being able to retain more of that low end thump.
I've got a set of Moderns in my Schecter SLS Evil Twin 6 string, and i play a Randall RG80 solid state head (i'm planning on getting a Randall RG1003H with a cab loaded with Eminence Man O War speakers sometime in the future) for my high gain tones, accompanied by a Zoom MS50G in the FX loop with the exciter to add low end resonance and high end sizzle, as well as an optical compressor to give my amp just enough of that tube character to smooth out the mids and accentuate the lows and highs. Both voice 1 and 2 sound absolutely fantastic through that amp, and the more i play with these pickups, the more i start to understand why guitar players with signature passive pickups from other companies jumped ship to be endorsed by Fishman.
Thanks for sharing, yes, fishman pickup is really good and it’s almost no noise, I like to use it for recording. 😃

"Stop with the facts, the kids want the latest hype."
This.
Today's kids hype BKP's and shit on EMG's and other active pickup brands just because their favorite (and very often highly opinionated and social-media savvy) guitar players say so. They say BKP's have mOrE cLaRiTy and hEaDrOoM because those players say so. I bet all my net worth these kids can't tell the difference between BKP Aftermath, DiMarzio Crunch Lab, and Seymour Duncan Invader, or between Fishman Fluence and EMG 81, in a double blind test, with normalized volume in a full band mix context. Heck, even those players probably can't either.

Those snowflakes never aim to improve their skills.
