I love songs like these, but being an incoming junior in high school who gained the skill to play a high A with good tone- and the strength to play a C but not for long-it pains me to see a high E. I will get there plus more my senior year though.

For me the opening 7 note motif played on the solo trumpet is one of the most powerful pieces of film music ever written ... somehow it encompasses the entire Corleone saga and it takes someone with a special tone to convey its yearning, sad quality. This is real virtuosity .... artistry of the highest calibre .... and what a tone!

I have long enjoyed playing the opening of this and your presentation of the Il Padirino made head over to my trumpet and try to emulate the master. Jimmy Maxwell who played it on the original soundtrack was one of my old teachers. You , Andrea , are magnificent.
