They've skipped some key parts of mending in this video. Two of the closed loops had begun unravelling but this video doe snot show them repairing the two stitches before sewing into the loopd. This would result in an uneven knit fabric and would look bad. Too bad they chopped that part out; It's important to do it properly.

What do I do with the beginning thread that's sticking out of? Do I just cut it?
Leave longer tails than the video shows so you can weave them into the base fabric.
Thread tails into needle, then weave over-under in one direction for a few stitches, then turn around and weave in opposite direction. Trim off excess tails.
