As someone with tattoos myself, I actually agree with the no tattoos rule. The only time I would disagree with it, would be in the case of Pocahontas, the tattoo around her arm. If someone was playing Pocahontas and they had that tattoo, I think it should be allowed, but only if it was the tattoo she has. Otherwise no. It would ruin the illusion.
Then you'd need Pocahontas's tattoo or very close. If you have a skull with flames, or LOSER over your arm, then sorry doesn't matter you happen to have something in the same place.
Princesses and other characters shouldn’t have tattoos, it would break the illusion. However, tattoos should be allowed for other workers who don’t play characters, or who play fur characters that are completely covered.
BooksForever they can, but only if they cover them. In japan (I think), tattoos are a sign of the yakuza, which is like the mafia. So, they don’t want to cause problems.
well most don't get to choose there characters..for example a lot of people can't play a princess until after they've played a fur (or full body) character for a certain amount of time, so it really just depends...
"One performer suffered whiplash when her Minnie Mouse Head moved back and forth violently when a guest picked her up and shook her" UMM WHO PICKS UP AND SHAKES MINNIE MOUSE LIKE A RAGDOLL??!!!! SO DISRESPECTFUL!!!! lol literally what kind of person would do that I hope they got kicked out
"Here is 10 Things, Disney princesses is not allowed to talk about" "If you like crafts and diy's.." Me: oh, ok edit lol it's like two years??? since i wrote this comment and idk whatever i wrote means
Which princess are you 0. Ariel 1. Rapunzel 3. Alice... 4.Mulan 5.Cinderella 6.Snow White 7. Belle 8.Jasmine 9.Merida Tell me what you got I got rapunzel
If the costumes are a danger they need to be redesigned with lighter materials. Clearly their costumers are not using the best durable and light weight materials if the frames are breaking bones. They should find cosplayers, fursuiters, and wedding dress designers who actually know how to make elaborate and safe gowns and costumes with amazing accuracy to complex, historical, and creative designs.
Even fursuiters and cosplays take risks, have uncomfortable costumes, and sometimes not the lightest weight materials when going for complete accuracy. It's not that easy, especially when trying to stick to a specific time period. Yes, there are better ways, but not always the most accurate or pleasing to the eye for disney
It really isn't as dangerous as they make it sound they exaggerated a lot of points and before they become a character in the suits they train them like a lot and they have a supervisor with them to make sure that there safe and they take breaks every 15 minuets and either swap out or take a break and cool down for 10 minuets before coming back to meet ups
Honeybee Honora but at least their costumes look good, these princesses in the video wear dresses that look like they were made for some child play, they look like they were made from cheap material
At least they have the new actors go through a month (if I'm remembering correctly) long training process that includes classes on how to sign your signature. They have you practice so much that it becomes second nature and as easy as drawing a stick figure.
rvpstudioscanada i agree with that but i think other workers who don’t act should be allowed to have tattoos or body modification aka dyed hair piercings tattoos
Hello? Identical look? Child: Rapunzel! Come here! (Rapunzel comes closer.) My sister wants to see that dragon tattoo on your shoulder. Hey, where's your tattoo? You had it right here 10 minutes ago!
Yo, I asked an Elsa the same question and she replied with "Sorry, I'm not allowed to use my powers because it might scare someone" I could tell that she was getting annoyed with me by her eyes
@@laMaricelamtz I asked the same thing and the said It’s to dangerous it could scare someone 6 year old me was like mk then Edit I meant 4 year old me lmao
Princess quizzes be like : Can we guess what Disney princess you are? Question 1 What do you do in your spare time? Read books Eat apples Beauty sleeping Going in the sea 😂😂
What makes me angry is the furry costume heads. The fact that they can, and have caused injuries to so many employees is worthy of a lawsuit. While I'm sure part of it is to continue 'wow'ing the guests with their groundbreaking technology, which includes blinking eyes, wiggling noses, etc., I believe I speak for everyone who has to wear those heads when I say that they do not have to use such heavy materials. Plastics like most of the toon characters have should be a huge no-no. Plastic is extremely heavy, so no wonder Minnie got whiplash from a guest shakinhg her. What they need to use is what the furry community uses: Foam. Toony heads are easier, cheaper, and safer to make using foam, and you can still add the realistic effects to it without risking the safety of the wearers. If you need a skin-like feel to the surface somewhere, all it takes is adding a thin layer of silicone rubber or latex. If you need the head to be more sturdy, cut thicker layers of the foam. It is not that hard to make safe mascot heads for your workers, Disney. In fact it will save you money.
In my fanfics, the characters are the real deal, they CAN talk about non-Disney things without punishment. In my AU storyverse, the characters (who are NOT people in costumes but are the REAL deals) CAN talk about non-Disney IPs and brands. And the conversations that they have with guests are hilarious. Guest: Hey, Anna, have you been on the Mario Kart experience yet? Anna: Yeah! Olaf gets blasted with Koopa shells all the time! Additionally, forget "keep a smile on", because here, the characters show EVERY emotion. This means that if you're a kid and you piss Elsa off, you can beat she will freeze your hiney. If you're a creepy pervert like John Moyer looking to molest Minnie Mouse, Mickey will kick your ass to the point where security will haul you out of the park, so don't even TRY touching Minnie's boobs! Only Mickey can as he is her husband! In addition, every character is a martial artist. They all can fight, just like Mulan, thanks to the Power Rangers training them.
I understand the tattoo and piercing rules but I feel that being fired for having an acne breakout isn’t okay because someone really can’t control having a breakout
mitsuri. that helps but extremely stressful situations, sweating a lot, wearing a full face of makeup everyday, etc. are all things that every princess must do for her job. you can't control acne breakouts as it is, but it's even harder with their jobs. someone leads a priveleged life lmao 🙄🙄
I think the rule is in place for regular workers because some children may find people with tattoos and/or piercings more intimidating or even scary. I think they’re just trying to completely avoid that risk by putting a no tattoo/piercing policy in place.
@@sheranmccauley5396 hmm. Well for one thing none of the princesses were drawn or animated with nail polish. 2. Most royals have to wear light nail polish as dark nails were not allowed until Megan Markle wore dark polish. 3. Not all of the actresses would have the same nail polish and the Disney Princesses would need to be consistent with each other. 5. Wearing nail polish all the time can yellow the nails and not all Disney Princesses wear gloves and lastly, all of the Disney Princess stories were set in times where nail polish would not exist in those time periods.
The 2 finger point rule is also because Walt used to smoke... A lot, and he had a lot of pictures taken of him that have him holding a cigarette with 2 fingers that were photoshopped before being released to the public, which lead to Walt essentially pointing to places with 2 fingers since the cigarette was airbrushed out. To not break the magic and to stop people from "smoking like Walt" everyone pointed with 2 fingers, it just so happens to help with cultures around the world as well.
The prohibition against tattoos makes perfect sense. You're portraying a character and have to look the part. Realistic expectation or not, a lot of small children think that when they go to a Disney park, they'll be meeting the real characters. Spotting a tattoo on a character that shouldn't have one could ruin a child's day at the park or, depending on how hung up on that character they are, their whole vacation. I don't even think it's out of bounds for non-character 'cast members'. A lot of tattoos portray brands, nudity, characters, religions, philosophies, language, or other things that Disney doesn't want to endorse. At the end of the day, it's their park, and if those are their requirements, then that's how it has to be. If you want to work as an engineer but you went to school for history, no one is obligated to hire you as an engineer. If a business requires you to not have marked yourself up like a graffiti-covered train car, but you're sleeved out and have more holes in your head than a bowl of Cheerios, too bad.
I do agree when it's Princesses but not so much other cast members. They could allow tattoos while still banning certain types, such as the things you mentioned. Many workplaces that allow tattoos still apply rules to the type.
I agree. Princesses should look the part. They said if it's easily covered - they don't care. @@OverdramaticAngel I think they have so many people willing to work there, they can choose. And arguing over which tatoo is ok and which is not would be a pain in the ass. So it's just more convenient to ban them all. After all it's not a necessity that you work in a Disneyland.
I agree with you. Even shopkeeper and another worker is not the main characters they still an unnamed side character of The Park. It’s like you watching Lord of The Rings and just notice some of Rohan soldiers and Mickey Mouse tattoos on their arm. It’s out of place and break the character.
Tattoos take away from the person behind them. If someone is all tatted up, people focus on that. The idea is for the Disney cast member to make an impression on a guest whether it's a character or just a regular cast member. Every cast member is a character and in costume. People didn't have tattoos in the era of Main street, Frontierland, New Orleans square, Critter Country, Adventure land, Fantasyland, so you can't add tattoos to those costumes.
Well, I mean, some people in those regions had tattooed skin. But of course I agree, if the character didn't have a tattoo then the professional actor shouldn't either. It's part of the magic.
A lot of the people who play characters also work as staff attendants. You can have multiple positions to fill, even in just your daily hours you can go from a staff, to an animal costume, to a face character.
When we took our children to Epcot, our daughter just disappeared. We ran into 3 princesses that were together near France and they helped look for her. No handlers that we could see (we hung out for a good 20 mins). Turns out she'd just taken a few steps to the left and went in to an indoor area with Belle (I think Beast was there too, Christmas time of year) reading a book. Our sons were having a great time with 3 princesses to themselves lol no idea if this was part of training or not. They talked though. They each gave our daughter a hug and told her to make sure to not wander off and get lost. That was a pretty cool afternoon. I mean, other than our daughter sneaking off 😂 there were hardly any people there that day. Pass Holders 03-09 👍😊
The idea is that these are 'the real deal' and we all know Disney Princesses never had tattoos in any of their movies, so allowing tattoos would ruin that image Disney is going for
AnimalCracker45 except for Pocahontas with the marking on her right arm. But it's understandable that it'd be confusing if a kid sees a Disney character with a tattoo. Also some people have been known to get some inappropriate looking tattoos so it's understandable that it'd be bad to display those in a place where kids are going to see them
Along with the fact of as assumed stage actors they should not be dumb enough to get a hard to hide tattoo because it is not just Disney that has those requirements. In acting on stage the actors are required to be able to quickly and easily hide tattoos with a preference of not having them unless that character was designed with a tattoo. It is meant to make it easier on the makeup artists and costume designer, along with not ruining the look of a character. I have seen actors booted straight out of an audition because they had tattoos that would be too hard to cover in a stage production
This is really interesting and accurate. My 6th grade World History teacher was a disney princess and when asked who she played she responded with “Legally I cant tell you, only my family and my disney emplorers know”
They are allowed to say "I'm friends with (name of character here)" so they can say something like, "I had a great day playing with my friend Rapunzel"
A Stalker it makes sense because if you met snowhite at one place with a tattoo and then all of a sudden that tattoo vanished when you meet the same character later it would be weird.
I do understand the people who want Disney to be more inclusive about tattoos and piercings but I think that would kind of ruin the experience for the younger audience.
Yeah and though I doubt a child will be terribly heartbroken by it or even care, I still understand why the rule is there for the actors, not really sure about the other employees, though.
I think the no tattoo rule is not just for the children but also the parents who may have to explain to their children why Rapunzel has a tattoo on her clavicle in one end of the park and no tattoo on the other. Consistency appears to be very important to Disney.
But maybe getting tattoo's that match the role are fine, since I noticed Pocohantus has a drawn on tattoo, so getting a real one would make it easier for her instead of drawing it each day. Only if she wishes though, idk
Well they would have to know one way or another that people like that exist in the world but out of it i do indeed agree ruining it for younger audiences.
People get excited, they freak out, they do stupid things. Ever watch The Price is Right? I'm not trying to excuse their actions. Just pointing out that some people can get overly excited and lose control.
Keith Craig ~ I know what you're saying but when someone loses control to the extent that they commit assault against another person they are not fit to be in society and need to be prosecuted. Keep in mind these incidents are the ADULTS visiting the park, not little children.
One major secret. Mickey Mouse is always played by a female due to his height. They hire costume characters not by gender but by height. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chipmunks are all female. Pluto and Goofy are male cause they're tall.
When I was little and went to Disneyland like 3 years ago I saw belle and then I looked to my right and I saw another belle and I thought that would ruin a kids childhood
I think they want them to cover their tattoos and piercings because lots of little kids think that the princess are real so if they saw the tattoos then it would kinda ruin it for he littler kids. I'm still a little kid but I know that those princess aren't real!!!😝
I think that tattos are more welcome in today's age, however, is still potraying a character that does not have tattoos or piericings, having them will ruin the illusion.
Yeah... feel liberated to wear tattoos all you want. But princesses are off the table. It’s not about the performer. It’s about the character and how they are portrayed to guests.
I took my dinomask to disney and was lost so I had it on and said to someone who was snow white "Um hi? I'm not sure where I am." Snow white: "oh now you pleasant animal we will help I always enjoy helping animals." God i love Disneyland uwu
Piercings and tattoos should not be allowed. I think first off they have to maintain uniformity and when one Snow White has a wrist tattoo and another one does not kids notice it and ask questions. Another thing is, while yes Pocahontas had a tribal tattoo she was really the only princess with any sort of tattoo that I recall so that would ruin the magic as well. Not to mention seeing ear expanders on a princess would not be considered lady like in the times they were written to be in. I 100% agree with Disney’s rules. They have childhood memories to maintain and they can’t have small details making children question the magic.
But Grace Robertson if Pocahontas does not have the tribal tattoo then the magic is not real because she needs the tattoo to be part of the tribe and the tribe is the one that brings the magic
Teresa Wilson i never said she shouldn’t have that tattoo but I was just using her in reference saying she’s the only princess I know of with a tattoo because that was just the tradition of her people. Where as belle (for example) doesn’t seem to have a tattoo so why would the belle at Disney world have one??? If the princess has a tattoo that’s fine to put the exact tattoo on the actress portraying the princess but I mean all other tattoos would be out of character and ruin the magic.
Grace Robertson I completely agree with you and Disney. I totally think it would ruin the magic if princess's or princes had tattoos or piercings, and I'm glad Disney has that rule :)
What an illusion. The only glamourous thing about being a princess is the appearance, holy crap that sounds like hell. I also heard Disney's employees aren't given much at all and the conditions are extremely difficult.
Sure cast members in entertainment were treated better. Not normal cast members. We were over worked, under paid, and treated like garbage by some managers and of course guests. 7 years at Walt Disney world cast member here.
I think that there shouldn’t be any visible tattoos or piercings on the princesses but the tattoos and piercings on the cast members should not be as strict
Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Belle, and Alice's characters would be absolutely RUINED if they had a tattoo or piercing. It would be like beautiful princesses gone savage.
In my opinion, none of them should have tattoos, Except for maybe Pocahontas whose design involves a tattoo, Can you imagine wanting to see your favorite princess and she has a full sleeve of tattoos? That would break the image for a lot of people especially the kids. But that's just my opinion.
Ohhhh they should make a movie about someone becoming queen/ princess bc some emotional tugging twist happened w/ her parents. But in memory, she tatted Walt on her or something. She should be the girl next door kinda vibes, but naturally cute. W/ tats & such things like that. Prob minus heavy black eyeliner. But her nails can be black & chipped tho
We need a princess with no hair so that the little girls and boys who have cancer can feel like they have someone like them and they can be extremely close with xx
I want to see a princess with some skin condition like vitiligo or imperfections like a big scar or birthmark or something. Edit: I also think girls with vitiligo are hella cute lol
I get Disney has a thing for "keeping the magic", but this seems weird. Like, what's wrong with people knowing what you do? Wouldn't it be good just in case that princess's family visits Disneyland and an emergency takes place? If the were nearby, that princess could do something about it. The rules for Disney World seems strange and a little bit crazy.
About the tattoo, kids are picky and Disney's main target audience are kids. Have you ever shown a kid a knockoffs version of Disney character and they complained about it until you get them the real one? Yep, best keep up the illusion in Disneyland if they don't want parents complaining about unhappy little critiques because their favorite character have something that proofs they are not who they appear to be. Before complaining about the restrictions not being bendable to modern fashionistas princess wannabe, try imagining yourself in the shoe of the management staff having to listen to unhappy parents with their unhappy kids as well as unhappy unbending die hards. They will commit suicide at the end of their first shift.
In any acting job, you have to look like the character. This is nothing new or unusual. If you're playing a Victorian schoolmistress - cover your tattoo. If you are playing an animated character, you have to...big shock -look like the character. If Belle in the movie doesn't have a tattoo and you have a tattoo somewhere that can't be hidden then you don't get the job. Actors have to be a blank canvas, it's not rocket science. ALL Disney workers are known as Cast Members because they are part of the overall theatrical experience of being in the park. Even the people picking up your dirty plates. The overall look is supposed to be a clean cut, neutral - no different to any other high end store or restaurant.
The reason Disney is so strict about tattoos, especially with the character roles, is that the look across different workers for the same character needs to be uniform. This is so the Disney "magic" isn't broken, especially for children. As for the other workers, Disney is not the only company to do this. And it isn't an "unreasonable" or "outdated" rule. If you want to work at a disney park, don't modify your body in ways that can't be covered or hidden. End of story. You don't have to go out and get piercings, gages, body modifications, or tattoos. No one forced you to do those things. No one is born that way. So Disney is not discriminating just because they don't want visible tattoos on their employees. If you have a face tattoo, you can't go and claim discrimination against a company that has policies against facial tattoos. You make a stupid choice that puts limits on what places will hire you, you face the consequences.
I have been backstage at Disneyland before because I was dancing in a parade along with the rest of my dance studio. It’s actually really gross back there. Dumpsters, rotten pizza smell, and spills everywhere. Probably not supposed to say this since I’m technically a Disney cast member now but...
Laura shonibare I am only technically a Disney cast member. I ‘worked’ there for two days, and on the first day I ‘worked’ there for half an hour on one day, and forty five minutes the other. I was a dancer in their parade. Maybe I was in a different part of the backstage than you, or maybe they changed. Also, I was 10 and they didn’t even know my name. So, in conclusion, they are not doing a backround check on a ten year old who ‘worked’ there for two days when they didn’t even know my name. They also probably have lots and lots of backstage, so we could have been in a different part. Edit: the people who worked backstage at Disney land didn’t even talk directly to me once. They just shouted directions at the whole group.
1- Can't choose your princess 2- No tattoos/peircings 3- No social media posts in costume/about job 4- Codes for incidences so they don't break character 5- Must point with 2 fingers 6- Must pick up garbage in a graceful way 7- Must look EXACTLY LIKE CHARACTER and look EXACTLY LIKE ACTRESS'S OF THE SAME CHARACTER 8- Very easy to loose job (for MANY reasons) 9- Can pass out in fursuits (must first train in fursuit), and can be hurt by heavy props 10-?????
10i supposed is the the signature they train how to make the exact same signature everyone elses made when they are working for their specific role. Your welcome 😁
I'm not against tattoos and piercings, but you can't just changed the rules of such a big company just because you want to, wen you have your own company you can do what you want with it but don't expect a complete company to change there rules. Is as simple as this, if you can't handle the rules then don't even apply for the job. The Disney look is really important for that company so we should just respect it.

Gioart Univers yeah Disney princesses don’t have tattoos and piercings and I think kids my feel frightened or not recognise they favourite Disney princess I have loads of tattoos and kids look at me like I’m a monster
I agree 100%. Tattoos and piercings are fine if you're into that sort of thing, but don't expect the world to conform to your standards when you refuse to conform to other peoples' standards. And yes, absolutely, when playing the role of an established character, you're expected to act and look like that character.
Blah blah blah..shut up..Disney needs to get a life and hire people who want to work instead of asking for hand outs is what I bet someone said who didn't get the job because of their tats and piercings..I totally agree..I have tats and tons of piercings but I'd be damned if I want to see Cinderella's face all pierced up and a tat of a skull on her neck..good grief
I don't think it's about hand outs. If it was, they wouldn't be looking to play a Disney Princess. Long hours, a strict work environment and pretty low pay is not something a person looking for a hand out would be interested in. As I stated above, I think it's more about forcing people to conform to their standards than anything else.
disney isnt outdated, the princesses just dont have tattoos and kids would ask questions if they hade tattoos showing in the park. Also you can audition more then once a year. Only if you get to the end of the audition and are „cast“ they will either contact you within 6 months or not, during that time you cant audition again
Honestly the tatto rule is VERY VERY well thought out and I think it is a great rule EDIT- wow that’s a lot of likes thxxxxxx EDIT- JEEEZZZZ IVE NEVER GOTTEN THAT MANY LIKES BEFORE THANKS GUYS
3:06 I think that if it’s a small tattoo (size of a Apple Maximum) than it should be ok. If it’s a huge full arm or full chest tattoo, that would ruin my experience. As for piercings, ear stretchers should not be allowed because they take away that Disney magic, but most other peircings are ok. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.
Janelle Northcut yah but it sounds like a nightmare to manage. It gets down right creepy when you learn that the reasons no guest has "officially" dies at Disney world cuase they move the body off their land so they can be declared dead somewere else XD
but you have understand. Disney doesnt looks at themselves as a company like any other. Whats acceptable for Walmart isn't acceptable for Disney in their opinion. They have a brand and reputation to uphold and maintain. Disney is infamous for protecting their property and image (you can thank walt Disney for like 80% of the copyright laws that exist as they are today). Disney does everything it can to make sure they are streamlined and perfect. All the way down to the ride operators. Its not about tattoos being seen as extreme or unsightly. Its just not part of the legacy of Disney's closely and fiercely guarded brand.
Does anyone know about their secret underground wonderland where they go in between shifts? My aunt used to work for ferrero and they got an underground tour
the tunnels are under the disney world park so two of the same character would never bump into each other when traveling. however, the fact that they are underground is a misconception. florida is so close to the water level that if you actually dug underground you'd likely be hitting water. if you ever go to disney world you may notice you go up a slight incline in magic kingdom as you walk up main street. the park is technically the second floor and the tunnels are at ground level! i find it really cool tbh.
Moonstone Vc this is actually good idea Walt wanted to make sure the park looked beautiful at all times he had counted how long it took people before they threw there trash on the ground
that picture was taken from Disneyland shanghai. Not even into the first week when it open. the guest trash the place. so badly :( they had shut the park down to clean it up and reopen it again. they still having trouble of people just trashing it :(
Walt Disney himself did that. He did a study to see how many steps people would take until they throw their loose garbage on the ground, his tests showed that it’s about 30 steps. So in each of the parks the garbage cans are 30 steps away from each other ever since.
As a cast member, Disney is know as their “show”. Most of this is true. You would not get the full effect or Disney experience if you would see tattoos on characters, which do not appear in movies. Yes, tattoos are more acceptable in today’s world (I have a few) but they must be concealed along with piercings. Disney is strict on things like the point that I even do at home lol, but that’s what makes it so magical. our social media’s are restricted as to what we can post. Character performers are not allowed to reveal their character. We must remain character integrity and that is why you will ALWAYS hear that there are only ONE of each character. (Even if you just saw him/her in Epcot vs Magic Kingdom) Also, as mentioned, characters are to keep their role true to character. They can’t really know about “today’s world” as cell phones, so asking to take a selfie, it may seem silly if they ask what that Device you are holding in your hand. the Training we go through, and how much plays into what makes Disney, Disney, is so true to what is in the video even down to the garbage, Q&A’s, and the character requirements. ☺️
@@adriannavanoyen Posting anything on social media is rarely "private" Restrict something to "friends only" and all that needs to happen is for one of those people to then share it out THEIR friend list. And if a site has programming to stop that? Theres this amazing tool called the snipping tool in literally every iteration of Windows and I'm sure Macintosh has an equivalent. Disney enforces zero social media reference because there is no guarantee and people cant truly be trusted.
Adrianna Miller yes ma’am what was said ^^ is entirely true. People screen shot left and right and don’t mind ratting you out so you get reprimands for it, terminated, or fired! I’ve never had any issues while being a CP having a FT or PT out to get me, but I’ve heard it happen before. Keep friends close but enemies closer!
I think they are updating a bit. I saw Ariel back in 2014 and me and my friends all wanted a picture with her and Ariel says, "sure let's take a shellfie, with your shellphone." Still the cutest story I tell people until this day.
4:31 OMG like a bajillion yrs ago i got autographs from disney princesses in that EXACT AUTOGRAPH NOTEBOOK haha (the pink one) i still have it somewhere
You just have to have a feel for the job, no matter what role you get you need to BE that character. You need to have fun doing it, you need to like kids. And the tatoo thing being outdated, yes it’s 2018. But some parents aren’t okay with tattoos therefore wouldn’t want kids looking up to these princesses. I don’t think I’d like to see a tattoo on a Disney princess.
It's more than that. I honestly dont care if you don't like your kid seeing my tattoos... but CMs, especially those playing a specific character, like the princesses, are playing a role and so must match the image of the character. A universal rule that tattoos must be covered prevents discrimination. I've yet to hear a CM complaint
My godmother works at the magic Kingdom and when she gets home she says she's tired while the only thing she does all day is a it in the boths and give tickets
Isn't the tattoo rule a part of almost any workplace with formal environments? Since they can appear as unprofessional and intimidating that wouldn't be the best thing for a amusement park surrounded with children, especially since you have to be the character. Honestly though what would the pay be like? It has to be good with so much work in hiring, training, and working. Beyond that some of these are pretty rough, but the tattoo one and appearance one make sense since your supposed to match the character, its the same thing for actors in either theatre or movies.
Francis Harkins I guess teachers aren’t professionals? I have a half sleeve, another tattoo on my wrist, and one on my ankle, I teach kindergarten and my students know about my tattoos and have seen them all....
Well, I know some people say excessive piercings or tattoos can hurt prospective teachers (this coming from someone who went through teacher education). That said, I work at a zoo and they do allow tattoos that aren't vulgar. Surprised me, but I'm glad
Who would know that Goofy, Mickey,Donald or Pluto had a tattoo or a face full of piercings in those costumes? I know a lawyer who is covered in ink and one of my doctors has at least one I've spotted and they're just as professional as anyone else in their fields. And the pay sucks! Orlando is loaded with former Disney employees who tell people who come to town in hopes of working at the park to steer clear of that hell. You make more working at a fast food joint and you have less stress and no stinking contract threatening you for life.
lol, that's true. Face characters are one thing, but the suited ones should be allowed to wear whatever they want. If just their normal human face ruins the magic, nothing on their skin would make a difference!
2:04 Tattoos and piercings just have to be covered. Covering tattoos, piercings, scars, blemishes etc is a normal part of being an actor/performer. There is nothing discriminatory about it.
i think a huge sleeve of uncovered tattoos is an obvious no but if you have a tattoo or piercing that you can cover with clothes or take out or cover w makeup then it shouldnt be prohibited
In any acting job, you have to look like the character. This is nothing new or unusual. If you're playing a Victorian schoolmistress - cover your tattoo. If you are playing an animated character, you have to...big shock -look like the character. Disney is about bringing your favourite characters to life. For me, even as an adult, going to Disney was an outstanding and happy experience seeing the princesses, even knowing they are just actors. I would upset if tattoos and piercings were allowed. It goes against what the character in the movie looks like and ruin the fairytale brought to life feel.
I can see why they have the tattoo rule. It's all about consistency, Disney's whole aesthetic is about keeping the magic alive, for the children especially. And, as some of the most iconic and recognisable characters in the world, the Disney Princesses are an integral part of keeping this illusion up. Seeing a princess with a tattoo at one event and then spotting the same princess without a tattoo at another event or part of the park would tip off even a small child that they weren't the same person. Thus ruining the magic. Yes, tattoos are a form of self expression and under normal circumstances I'd say that being inked up shouldn't matter, but these particular cast members are actresses. They're not being themselves, and their job is essentially to convince the kids that they actually are that princess.
there is a huge issue with the height requirement, what if the princess is shorter then 5'3" in cannon.. like Princess Leia is 5'1" (this is based of the Carrie Fisher's height)
No tattoos, lip piercings, ear lobe expansions, ect..... Is a good rule, it keeps things clean and healthy, I don't care if anyone thinks just because it's the modern day "thing", it should be in, it still doesn't make it right, sorry y'all, but that's the truth. 😉
Eris Milliner Yeah. I wonder if someone who actually is a fan of that movie and because if that has that tattoo herself would be accepted for the role still or not
My opinion with the tattoos - if you’re a character that shows skin then yeah, no tattoos. The character doesn’t have tattoos so yeah, it makes sense. However, cast members should be able to have tattoos as long as they are not offensive tattoos. That’s my opinion.
many cast members do have tattoos. just on their arms/shoulders/thighs/torsos where they can be covered by the costume. or else they cover them with makeup. disney doesnt actually say "you cant have any tattoos!" they say "all tattoos must be covered throughout the work day"
I agree cause the tattoos could be like small lollipop. For example snow white could have a tiny Apple tattoo on her hand. Elsa could have a snow flake on her palm. Rupunzel could have a golden flower on her ankle. Tiana could have leaves and a cute tiny frog on her wrist. Don't you agree?
Them: Also, Disney princesses should never sit down Me: But I went there when I was 4 and they were all sitting down when I took my picture with them! I sat on there lap. 🤨
Louise Brummage if they feel bad working there, why audition and work hard to get in? I don't think they feel too bad about the rules, it seems like they know what they're doing and are passionate about it if they worked this hard to get the job
Jethymea Diolas I completely agree whith you but what if it was the only option they had to find jobs as a actress or actor and they don't really know all the rules because as the code or Disneyland rules say that the Disneyland princesses are not allowed to speak about their jobs with to the public not even family so they don't really know all the rules until or when they audition or pass the audition. I have to say you have given me a very well reply to my comment and thank you for sharing you thoughts about the subject I appreciate it.
I knew someone in highschool who worked as Snow White on the weekends and even brought in one of her signatures when she talked in our class about her job. I remember when someone asked her to write the signature on the board she said she couldn't because it was against Disney's rules.
@@sirellyn4391 that's literally what they said lol

Princesses and other characters shouldn’t have tattoos, it would break the illusion. However, tattoos should be allowed for other workers who don’t play characters, or who play fur characters that are completely covered.
BooksForever they can, but only if they cover them. In japan (I think), tattoos are a sign of the yakuza, which is like the mafia. So, they don’t want to cause problems.
Yeah that’s kind of unfair for anyone who isn’t portraying a character
well most don't get to choose there characters..for example a lot of people can't play a princess until after they've played a fur (or full body) character for a certain amount of time, so it really just depends...
Mhm
Disney should come out with a movie with a princess who has tattoos. I would love it so much

Agreed
Thank you for saying FurSuiters that literally made my day
i would definitely mess up the signature 24/7 that’s a lot of pressure to make it constantly the same every time 😂😂
At least they have the new actors go through a month (if I'm remembering correctly) long training process that includes classes on how to sign your signature. They have you practice so much that it becomes second nature and as easy as drawing a stick figure.
My handwriting is like a prescription from my doctor ;-;
Actors are playing a ROLE, and their role is ZERO tattoos. There is NOTHING discriminatory about that. It is THEIR job.
I agree with that but the shopkeepers or non actors shouldn't be forced to cover their tattoos or remove their piercings they aren't playing a part

Its ironic though that Pocahontas.....who IS considered a Disney Princess....DOES IN FACT have a tattoo on her arm.
rvpstudioscanada i agree with that but i think other workers who don’t act should be allowed to have tattoos or body modification aka dyed hair piercings tattoos

Princesses shouldn't have tattoos, because you pay a lot just to see an illusion, it shouldn't be destroyed by visible tattoos.

This sounds so much better than. Disney Land. I would have a much better experience in a place like this.
@@sarahduckett8837 Are you talking about my fan fiction AU?

I think the tattoo rule makes sense because seeing a princess with a tattoo and then the same one without would be confusing for little kids!
Yes, I agree! But I feel like other workers besides characters should be able to have tattoos showing. Or at least small ones.
Imogen Lyons yeah
... I disagree, when I was little I believed princesses should be bad ass.
But I think other workers should be allowed to
I think the rule is in place for regular workers because some children may find people with tattoos and/or piercings more intimidating or even scary. I think they’re just trying to completely avoid that risk by putting a no tattoo/piercing policy in place.
So they can't tell friends and family that they had a good day at work? How rude
they can be like "work was great" just not get into details, like noone is supposed to know they are a disney princess
They can tell people how their work was great or they had a good time just not get into detail like who their playing as.
The people who play characters can say I worked WITH whatever character they were playing so they can preserve the Disney Magic
But won’t the family be suspicious since they're always gone?
Fame Plays their family can know that they work at Disney just not what character they play

Hi

@@casuallyceltic No.... like LITERALLY air brushed out. Where did you think the airbrush tool name in photoshop came from?

Haha ikr😂
I don't care if the workers or parade performers had tattoos or piercings but not on the characters themselves because that ruins the illusion
Its not a illisoum
Pass Holders 03-09 👍😊
that might be terrifying!
AnimalCracker45 oh well I wonder who Pocahontas is

A Stalker true
A Stalker it makes sense because if you met snowhite at one place with a tattoo and then all of a sudden that tattoo vanished when you meet the same character later it would be weird.
DISNEY OMG OMG I HATE IT YOU KNOW WHY IM NOT TELLING

It's assault. I hope Disney have a zero tolerance policy on this and press charges against anyone assaulting their staff.

I agree. It would turn the effect into a cosplay.
I think you look cheap with tattos ! It doesn’t change just because they are now prevalent.
Yeah... feel liberated to wear tattoos all you want. But princesses are off the table. It’s not about the performer. It’s about the character and how they are portrayed to guests.
Agreed
Disney Princesses with tattoos....ummmm no
I took my dinomask to disney and was lost so I had it on and said to someone who was snow white
"Um hi? I'm not sure where I am."
Snow white: "oh now you pleasant animal we will help I always enjoy helping animals."
God i love Disneyland uwu
Piercings and tattoos should not be allowed. I think first off they have to maintain uniformity and when one Snow White has a wrist tattoo and another one does not kids notice it and ask questions. Another thing is, while yes Pocahontas had a tribal tattoo she was really the only princess with any sort of tattoo that I recall so that would ruin the magic as well. Not to mention seeing ear expanders on a princess would not be considered lady like in the times they were written to be in. I 100% agree with Disney’s rules. They have childhood memories to maintain and they can’t have small details making children question the magic.
Grace Robertson true, that's exactly what I was thinking. I may even respect Disney more.
But Grace Robertson if Pocahontas does not have the tribal tattoo then the magic is not real because she needs the tattoo to be part of the tribe and the tribe is the one that brings the magic
Teresa Wilson she does have hers because it’s part of her character
I also heard Disney's employees aren't given much at all and the conditions are extremely difficult.
idylle♡doll that's not true, the cast members are treated really well
Having Disney Land or Disney World on an application would look amazing though
And no one makes them take the job, or keep it, it's a 100% free choice situation.
I was a cast member working in Entertainment. We were treated very very well. :) this video is bias
By "cast members", I take it you mean employees in general, who aren't character actors, right?
carultch yes that’s what they call their employees
Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Belle, and Alice's characters would be absolutely RUINED if they had a tattoo or piercing. It would be like beautiful princesses gone savage.
Cassidy Faith tattoos aren’t savage, how old are you 3😂
cinderella could look cool with a tiny glass slipper tattoo though but i feel like thats an exception

DELETE DISNEY MIGHT SEE THIS!!!!!!!
Random Girl...no your fine because your screen name is random girl
Cat central you should tell the creator of the video to delete the video then. It reveals more secrets than my comment.
Things are getting too heated in here 😅
When you're not even 18 yet and already 5'6 tall.
*FRICK*
Pearl Lilly u wont grow anymore if ur like 16 or 13
Yeah 😂😂
I'm not even 12 and I'm 4-11
I stopped growing at 12.... I'm 5 7
I’m seeing all these tall people here. I’m 5’3” 😂
1- Can't choose your princess
2- No tattoos/peircings
3- No social media posts in costume/about job
4- Codes for incidences so they don't break character
5- Must point with 2 fingers
6- Must pick up garbage in a graceful way
7- Must look EXACTLY LIKE CHARACTER and look EXACTLY LIKE ACTRESS'S OF THE SAME CHARACTER
8- Very easy to loose job (for MANY reasons)
9- Can pass out in fursuits (must first train in fursuit), and can be hurt by heavy props
10-?????
Yep. And all great rules.
well that is annoying
The Purple Glitch thanks
The Purple Glitch thank you they were taking too long to get to the point
10i supposed is the the signature they train how to make the exact same signature everyone elses made when they are working for their specific role. Your welcome 😁
No tats or piercings on Disney employees is a GOOD rule.
Yunazki Chan {broken} {TsunDere} { Neko} ......... I'm pretty sure that's allowed, I mean most people now days have piercings
Ya
That is good rule no tattoo or piercing
I Agree
TheBitBlock i mean yes i get that but small tats that you wouldn’t really noticed shouldn’t need to be taken such lengths to get covered

Honestly the tatto rule is VERY VERY well thought out and I think it is a great rule
EDIT- wow that’s a lot of likes thxxxxxx
EDIT- JEEEZZZZ IVE NEVER GOTTEN THAT MANY LIKES BEFORE THANKS GUYS
Also I, because it would totally ruin the affect of a princess for a little kid, because “she didn’t have any tattoos in the movies”
Wow being a Disney princess is harder than I thought
Benrisal the gamer be a character at cedar point... then it gets tough...
Thanks to all these performers for putting so much work and effort into this job for people like me. I highly appriciate it.
Teagan 17 I definitely agree
Teagan 17 I feel the same way
it's not like no tattoos at all you just gotta be able to hide it with it looking like you hadn't been there at all so you can have smaller tattoos
Teagan 17 my opinion too.
Teagan 17 is
Most of these make sense to me.
Janelle Northcut yah but it sounds like a nightmare to manage. It gets down right creepy when you learn that the reasons no guest has "officially" dies at Disney world cuase they move the body off their land so they can be declared dead somewere else XD
I really hope the pay is good.
Janelle Northcut u have a lot of subscribers
That's just an urban legend. Check out Snopes.com.
I agree, every single one of these make perfectly good sense to me.
for character performers the tattoos and piercings rule makes sense but for all the other cast members it doesn’t really make sense anymore
Ok that's a good point.
Yeah, seeing a Disney Princess or prince with tattoos are weird. But a ride worker or something, they can have them.
but you have understand.
I agree, if i saw Queen Elsa with a tattoo, i would kick her in the shin for ruining my life, but an average person, i would be fine!!
Pochahantes has a tattoo on her right arm. (In the movie)
Does anyone know about their secret underground wonderland where they go in between shifts? My aunt used to work for ferrero and they got an underground tour
Lauren_Playz only in the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World no other Disney park has underground utilidoors
Kevinnemo ok thanks! I’ve never been she just told me that so I didn’t really know any details
the tunnels are under the disney world park so two of the same character would never bump into each other when traveling. however, the fact that they are underground is a misconception. florida is so close to the water level that if you actually dug underground you'd likely be hitting water. if you ever go to disney world you may notice you go up a slight incline in magic kingdom as you walk up main street. the park is technically the second floor and the tunnels are at ground level! i find it really cool tbh.
Lauren_Playz I know. My sister works there.
I changed my mind of being a princess 👸 🤕😳
M&M PRANKS ur so right
Sameeee
Same lol when I was 13 im like hmm maybe I'll try to do the collage program. Hell no 😂
M&M PRANKS years ago I was a princess Disney princess but now
Im a cartoon network hero cuz of teen titans go
Same! 😆
I saw a Cinderella years ago and she seemed so happy. If I knew then what I knew now I wouldn't have loved it so much
They're pretty much trapped like the actual Disney princess in the movies. How ironic...
6:42 dove cameron in disney descendants.
7:55 raven and payton list and andi mack crew and other disney stars were at this time.
Shopna Begum nooo really??
8:02 OMG like what the hell???
Disney Trash Bins are just like 3-5 step away fron each other so y litter on the groud???
U pway robwox lol what's ur username mines is sxinxd
People are lazy and expect to have everything done for them at such a "magical" place.
Kay, so with social media, if you keep your account/s and post/s private, how would corporate know?
There are one Disney character that has tattoos Maui from Moana
I think they are updating a bit. I saw Ariel back in 2014 and me and my friends all wanted a picture with her and Ariel says, "sure let's take a shellfie, with your shellphone." Still the cutest story I tell people until this day.
4:31 OMG like a bajillion yrs ago i got autographs from disney princesses in that EXACT AUTOGRAPH NOTEBOOK haha (the pink one)
i still have it somewhere
cinnamonbun “somewhere” 😂😂😂 I CANT BREATH😂😂😂
Well, next time I’m going to Disney I’m going to to give every worker a hug and a “Thank You”.😂🤣💗
You just have to have a feel for the job, no matter what role you get you need to BE that character. You need to have fun doing it, you need to like kids. And the tatoo thing being outdated, yes it’s 2018. But some parents aren’t okay with tattoos therefore wouldn’t want kids looking up to these princesses. I don’t think I’d like to see a tattoo on a Disney princess.
åinsley very true actually. My mom is one of those parents that do not like people having tattoos at all, she says they are "evil" 😂😂
same
It's more than that. I honestly dont care if you don't like your kid seeing my tattoos... but CMs, especially those playing a specific character, like the princesses, are playing a role and so must match the image of the character. A universal rule that tattoos must be covered prevents discrimination. I've yet to hear a CM complaint
åinsley what about Pocahontas she has a tattoo
Silly fun times ok
Since Pocahontas actually has a tattoo, why can’t Disney do one of the temporary tattoos on her that resembles the one in the movie ?
I want to try out and I’m hoping for Ariel wish me luck
Alex Smith how did it go?
did you get it?
Wish you luck
Alex Smith how was it
Pretty sure if she got it, she's not allowed to tell people.
Honestly I would hate to see my Disney princess with a tatoo it would break my heart bc it's not the same
Same
Oh well
Cookie Kitty 11 I personally disagree, tattoos are art but they would mess up the experience for me bc it is Disney
@Cookie Kitty 11 That has given me an idea of a tattoo when im older lmao thanks 👀😂
Like seeing Cinderella as a black persons.. NO
Sooo basically working at Disney would lowkey kinda suck 😂
My godmother works at the magic Kingdom and when she gets home she says she's tired while the only thing she does all day is a it in the boths and give tickets
It does. They pay shit wages for jobs that are practically slave labor. A lot of the Florida cast are homeless bc they can’t afford rent.
Cece Thomas so true
Cece Thomas dhgt sh as hd r7 ade eie huh svs duhdbsjtcye iuwdus f☺💒🚙🚙
Cece Thomas yep id rather just work at universal studios
Wow. That’s a lot of responsibilities. Im just going to be a visitor then😂
Ur not the only one😂👏
i think a huge sleeve of uncovered tattoos is an obvious no but if you have a tattoo or piercing that you can cover with clothes or take out or cover w makeup then it shouldnt be prohibited
it is allowed if it can be easily covered tho???
TheAgent377 i've been to places where tattoos in general are prohibited bc customers dont agree with them
@@danielr2488 we're talking specifically about disney world/land though. what do other places have to do with it?
TheAgent377 i was saying it as a general statement
*i dont want to work there.*
Alex Debie high five!!!
They don't want you to work there either, so it works out.
BlakeKaleigh wow... that fucking helps my depression. Thanks fucker.
Ian Smith yeah i know
Disney is about bringing your favourite characters to life. For me, even as an adult, going to Disney was an outstanding and happy experience seeing the princesses, even knowing they are just actors. I would upset if tattoos and piercings were allowed. It goes against what the character in the movie looks like and ruin the fairytale brought to life feel.
Christine Allen I don't think ear piercings would be bad, but then some could have 5 ear piercings Soo nvm bad idea
11:39
YAAAAAASSS ONCE UPON A TIMEEEE!!
I'm fangirling rn
Who watched OUAT??
Honey Queen ohmygosh I love this show
Eszter Szabó yaaaaaasss
Honey Queen gurl me
OML YAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS @w@
Huh???????
there is a huge issue with the height requirement, what if the princess is shorter then 5'3" in cannon.. like Princess Leia is 5'1" (this is based of the Carrie Fisher's height)
iiSlimiee Squishieeii Princess Leia actress.
10:48 nightmares have unleashed
The same Disney princesses should never be together Ummm at 7:23 you can see that that is WRONG
EllieCatEggo334 these are mothers and their kids, in a parade, dressed as their favorite princess. This happens every year.
They look like guests
Look at the costume quality
They’re guests lmao
Yeah cuz of le wreck it ralph two.
Yep
No tattoos, lip piercings, ear lobe expansions, ect..... Is a good rule, it keeps things clean and healthy, I don't care if anyone thinks just because it's the modern day "thing", it should be in, it still doesn't make it right, sorry y'all, but that's the truth. 😉
Can they dye their hair red or oranhe and keep it instead of a red or orange wig?
TheRobloxGamingGirl nope, they have to wear a wig
Their hair might be short
The shade they dye could be noticeably lighter or danker and all need to look the same
TheRobloxGamingGirl huh
TheRobloxGamingGirl *orange
Makes you wonder would anyone even want this job ?
What if you say "I'm not sure", what would happen??
I agree that there shouldn’t be tattoos it can give kids ideas and it could ruin the magic because in the films they don’t have tattoos
Pocahontas had a tattoo in a Disney movie
but yes I agreed
Eris Milliner yeah I guess but it really doesn’t seem like a tattoo more like it was painted on there or something
Eris Milliner yeah because it goes for all characters
Eris Milliner
Yeah.
So being a Disney princess is not a dream come true. More rules than a private school
Them: Also, Disney princesses should never sit down
Me: But I went there when I was 4 and they were all sitting down when I took my picture with them! I sat on there lap. 🤨
Im 6'0 and chubby So I cant be a princess or a villain im sad now
Samantha Johnson you can be that sea urchin thing in Ariel the evil villain
Ursula
NXX !? That’s so insulting
Melanie no it’s not I was telling her that she can be someone I was telling her she should never underestimate herself
...
I feel sorry for these disney princesses
Louise Brummage they all the know the rules before they audition. Its on the Disney website.
Oh I did not know that thanks for providing me with that piece of information, Hayley Reed
You are welcome
The secret that surprised me the most was it can be dangerous trying out for getting a Disney princess role.
I knew someone in highschool who worked as Snow White on the weekends and even brought in one of her signatures when she talked in our class about her job. I remember when someone asked her to write the signature on the board she said she couldn't because it was against Disney's rules.
7:30 *FIRED*
