Logan Labs is also a good reputable soil lab and will give recommendations. They really did a good job for my vineyard.
In regards to the shovel, I always have a piece of sandstone or a piece of brick to rub down the shovel prior to any digging. I used to hate to do the same to the plow in spring on the farm, but a little bit of preparation pays large dividends. I guess a power drill with a wire brush wheel would do the same. Just offering...
So much life comes out of the soil, incredible.
I'm jealous seeing how deep your shovel went! Just to dig down 8 inches, we had to soak our soil and dig at it with a pick 😭. Its terrible.

How often would you do a soil test? I guess you can just order their minerals. Say for next years garden without the soil test?
I would test the second year also after the initial years garden to make sure everything looks good in your soil.
That's some good looking dark-brown dirt. The grass seems patchy, you might could use some better drainage. After lowering my lawn's water-table 4inches my grass got THICK.

Wonder if you took a soil sample in the same spot, and send it to Texas A&M. What they would tell you? May make a good video comparing the two results.
Hi Pete. Great video. I plan on growing many different vegetables, like you, but notice the soil test form asks for the type of crop being planted. I'm assuming they only give recommendations, soil amendments, for one crop. Do you know if they will give recommendations for several different crops without having to pay $75 for each crop? Couldn't find anything on their website about this. Thank you.
I wouldn't worry about that, the soil analysis is for general vegetable garden. In the "growing area" section just put garden so they know it's for a general vegetable garden and don't worry about the previous, or intended crop section.
