Since Marner is coming back, Leafs have no money for Bertuzzi and Domi. They need to prioritize getting a 2C, and two top 4 D. Bertuzzi and Domi are luxuries on this roster. If any money is left on July 2nd you give Domi another 1 x 3 contract to play him with Matthews.
Marner is gone !
He is still signed for at least a year. There has been no trade discussions

Marner was here last year and so were Bert and Domi. The only tricky piece is Domi who wants a raise from his 3M. It can still be done with the cap rising.
Bertuzzi was only good for about 20 games. Domi was a bit better.

Rumors are that Mitch Marner will play next year. Potentially no resigning July 1. If the Leafs don't want him to play and don't want his salary effecting the salary cap, can the Leafs send Marner down to the Marles? Or will the not work to keep his salary off the cap?

Less than a quarter of NHL teams are Canadian. Since the cap came in, a Canadian has been in the final 5 out of 19 seasons (more than a quarter of the seasons). Once you get to the finals, you can't blame the cap or no-tax-states on losing. It's been a while since a Canadian team won it all, but they've knocked on the door plenty of times. There are disadvantages and challenges for Canadian markets, but the Canadian teams have been performing fine when you look at the big picture.

Nothing wrong with waiting a week for finals - it is the FINALS. These guys can wait 9 years for Shanaplan, or 99 years, but wait a week for the finals and its just out of the question.

Have you thought this through? What GM in their right mind sign a player who maliciously tanked their team by throwing a tantrum? Marner doesn't benefit from having a bad season. It's in both their interest to have stellar years but especially for Mitch. He guarantees a big contract whether it's here or else where.

@@MisterMister5893 hey man I’d never go around saying that Marner isn’t a strong athlete but the thing that makes this so enjoyable for me is there is absolutely no way it can be denied that he’s one of the softest players in the league physically it’s clearly impossible for him to shift into playoff mode he’s physically really small when ya look at him he’s completely shown the world he has zero intentions on playing physical hockey I can guarantee you that Toronto will absolutely crash and burn this up coming year this club is soooooo pathetic
