- Here is step by step tutorial on how to use transformations in Free-Roam of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. This works for Super Saiyan 1, 2 3 and every other transformation in the game. I haven't tried it yet with Kaioken and Namekian transformation, but it should work. It should work with Gohan's Potential Unleashed or Super Saiyan transformations too.

Update November 2020: With Resurrection F DLC, they've patched this trick and sadly it no longer works. I will try to find other ways of doing it. Feel free to contact me if you find something too :)

Update May 2020: Someone pointed out to me on twitter that if you do this same thing with SURGE active, you will be able to keep the glowy aura of the form as well!

@@ogjay3876 idk maybe when youre roaming with ssj3 and enter a battle, you transform into ssj2 or ssj1. And if you win the battle, you turn back into ssj3.

If you eat a meal while in Super Saiyan, you can get the yellow aura as well.
theres a way of getting the aura using the same trick as in the video, but it rarely happens. I haven't tested it enough coz I've been busy but I'll take a look.

Thank you. Absolutely no reason why this has to be glitched. Just let players transform outside of battle. It’s purely aesthetic and doesn’t give the player and gameplay advantages. I guess you’d be able to start battles in that transformation. But just make it so free roam transformations are only unlocked once you have the auto skill for that transformation also unlocked. No good reason what so ever this wasn’t implemented earlier.
I do get that maybe they didn’t think of it. Like maybe they didn’t realize in development that players want to fly around in transformations. Any dragon ball fan would want that, but I’ll them the benefit of the doubt here. No excuse though why they didn’t release a patch implementing this. I can’t imagine it would be a lot of coding or work in their end and would make so many players happy.

Honestly this is why I still feel the Legacy of Goku 2 is a superior game. Cause even in that game you could transform at any time you felt like and even fly around in that form. Also there was no loading screens lol.

Can also confirm this works on Xbox since I did my glitch last night on the Xbox. I’d assume it should work for PS4 too.

I got it to work, I also. While trying, I also managed to get the profile picture to be ssj2 Goku while the model was in base.
It worked on my second try!! I just got done playing the cell saga when I tried out this glitch, I managed to get teen Gohan in his SS2 form and it looks so cool

Good video. This situation happen to me as well (not in the same way though). It was after the Frieza arc and while playing as Goku ( when he returns home from Yardrat) I did a training mission and after that I was still in Saiyan form. I just wish they just let us be in the form whenever we want lol.

Cutthroat Breezy game took way too long for them to be inconsistent with updates so if we do keep coming up with them we’ll get updates

The glitch does work for me. However once you go to a different part of the world map (Like going from Kami’s Lookout to Goku’s House), you will change back to normal so you’ll have to do it again
This is really precised because while i did get the transforming animation i still reverted to my base form at the same moment, also this doesn't with fusions, i tried fusion as soon as the battle ended & while it seemed to work at first i defused very litherally the moment i fused, & the only method i know that glitches fusions into free roam is the 1 where you entered a normal training session which after beating a battle from, you can't replay that battle, so because of the horde battle training grounds from DLC 2 (which has been used for the versus mode mod) you might be able to still do this after getting all of the skills in, but not in the base game which is dumb because of multiple party related reasons like playing as only gotenks (like when you fight super buu (no absoption)) or vegito & gotenks at the same time (like the second last villianous enemy team does)

Dave Wrobleski I did this as well the night I discovered this glitch. It might have to do with somehow keeping your characters ki maxed or something along those lines... idk yet, but it’s definitely possible.
I also managed to do this yesterday by mistake using Gohan SS2!

Apple Ken Xyro Paul Ramos from my understanding, it has to be just right, so when the battle completely ends, the character then finishes transforming. Could be wrong, as I couldn’t replicate it. Ken, what form was Gohan in BEFORE you went ssj2?

Kiaoken doesn’t really work, the icon on the bottom left says you’re kiaoken but you’re base goku, everything else I’ve tried works! :D
That means Kaioken uses an aura effect rather than a reskin of the character - Imagine SS from vs. SS with glow and lighting effect.
I didn't get the time to play these past few days but there is a way you can transform and still keep the SS aura. I did it with Gohan. I suppose doing Kaioken with that trick will keep Kaioken in free roam.
I got it to work! With the red Aurora around. Went from SS to kiaoken. Only thing sucks is your health continuously depletes but looks awesome!

Then patching it would be them blatantly denying what we want. A better use of their time would be to implement this feature in the game without having to do glitches or mods for pc olayers

Everybody saying they did this in the early game might just be talking about how the game had you as goku and gohan in ssj form because canonically they were training to stay in ssj longer and more efficiently
And if you do the Super Spirit bomb and finish the fight with a kamehameha you still will be able to stay in any SSj form with Kakarot ❤️
You can get free roam aura too if you do the same trick with the power up during the fight

I absolutely love this game when it came out and I’m just about to get into the rules are good in the campaign and let’s just say life got a little crazy, and bunch of different games that I love came out I haven’t played Kakarot in probably about 5 months - I gotta go back tonight - figured I’d be ready to do DLC one deal seetwo drops I could probably be leveled up enough to take it on
Enjoy your time with it. Next DLC should probably release around November. Until then you can play the base game and DLC 1 for roughly 100 hours of total playthrough if you do everything in the game :)

You can also change your character to go base form for example changing from goku to vegeta
i somehow just did it without the party, but it took me several hours. when i finally did i still had the glowy shine on the model, and including the super saiyan aura whenever i flew. Plus the ki bar kept refilling every second.
You can keep the glow of the aura if you do this same trick while in surge :)

Just so you're aware, I was free roaming as ssj2 Goku and when I was fishing, the eyes of ssj2 Goku we're glitched and looked weird. Like a bit of a base Goku look but not at the same time. Try it if you want though
If you eat chichi full meals while in ssj the eyes will lag

Okay, no one has pointed it out, but if you use say SSJ3 for this glitch, you will keep it after battles, so if you enter a second battle and switch to SSJ 1 or SSJ 2 the game registers Goku's base hair as Kaioken, but now after the glitch it's gonna be the SSJ 3 hair, it'll only switch in battles, however, if you revert, your hair stays the transformed way, but if you enter tension mode or drive the car or even use the bipedal robot, his face goes SUPER derpy, I can't take it seriously! Lol.

Now we need fream roam in SSJ God, SSJ Blue and UI Goku xD
GUYS! this works perfectly without a party if you have the super spirit bomb ... just hop into whatever form you wanna roam in, and get the last guy down to low health, then just keep zapping away with dodge to get distance, launch the super spirit bomb, then hold the transformations tab to enter slow mo, and wait it for it to hit.. the second it does just transform into another form and the timing is so much easier
As I said in the video, there are multiple ways of doing it. However, the one shown in the video is the best. With Super Spirit bomb you're stuck with using it only on Goku.
There's also another method of doing it using training grounds but that also falls short because most people already finished all the training missions.
The art style reminds me of Budokai 3 the best of the series!!! That's where this roaming stuff began!

ATTENTION. I now confirm that this glitch is still possible on xbox. But I don't know about ps4 since I do not own one.

Did you know you can skip the grinding by just dashing to the enemy this'll be good for farming z orbs in short ways

I never really fell short of z orbs, I guess I explored a lot and collected tons while just flying around.

Works for everything but kaioken. i did it once but after that it didnt work and yes I tried it atleast 20 times i was a lvl 96 as goku when i first tried and im a level 98 now still trying to get kaioken to work
I get the icon that its kaioken but it doesnt show the aura or anything that hes kaioken
I did kaioken once as well accidently in my first play through with the red aura lost health and everything can't seem to do it again though
It also doesn't work for Vegeta as well if you only have SSJ1. I think it only works for the Saiyan forms only.
I did it with Gohan's Potential Unleashed so it works with that too and as for Kaioken, I'm trying few tricks and might have some interesting results soon.

It’s a small thing, but for Super Saiyan 2, Goku’s eyes get fucked up if you try and fish while transformed (Super Saiyan would likely be fine bc of the Cell Saga, but I imagine Super Saiyan 3 probably has similar problems). Makes me wish this was an actual feature of the game so I wouldn’t have to worry about that, especially with the Auto Transformation skills already existing

Somehow I glitches to be permanent gotenks and was able to fly around with him. Fast travel, save and reload didn't fix it either.

Does it give you the power boost when you stay in the form after the battle, and does it drain ki?
It doesn't drain ki, however Kaioken drains life as far as I've seen. I'm not sure about the power boost.

You can however it's very limited. You need a save file for the point where the cutscene plays where they fuse.
In middle of that cutscene when Buu absorbs Gohan, smash the button to open world map over and over again. Then fast travel to a different location and game will let you free roam as Vegito. I'm trying to see if there's any other way for consoles, on PC we can simply use mod tools to switch whenever.
I also miss just Powering Up in Free Roam. Like just stand somewhere and charge ki
