The Beatles - Girl

With the mammoth “Revovler” box set from last year, I honestly had hoped we’d get the same treatment for “Rubber Soul” this year…rumor round the Internets is that we’re not…instead, we’re getting a 50th Anniversary box set dedicated to the 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 compilations, better known as the Red and the Blue albums. Either way, this track appears on whatever we’re going to get, so here’s my plug for the announcement? (No, the question mark is supposed to be there, not a typo)
I always liked this song due to the backing vocals in the middle eight and the huffing in the chorus (the weirdest things amuse me…), but now that I’m older, I understand its meaning and have even lived it a few times. Groovy little track. I try mimicking George’s 12-string solo towards the end. I get lost, but I come back around. Not going for accuracy, just pure fun!
This song goes out to a couple of girls I’ve known over the years, but one in particular, I chose to release it on the 10 year anniversary of when we fell out. My psychiatrist told me not to say her name or talk about her…it was that bad. I bet she’s watching, too!
Guitar is 2020 Manuel & Patterson (www.abitaguitar.com) OOO-14, amp is 2011 Fender Acoustasonic 30 DSP with plate reverb with a Boss AD-10 preamp between guitar and amp for a little compression, body and EQ.
I hope Louisiana cools off so I can get more videos filmed. See y’all soon!
