I think what you are saying is wrong and I think you are probably unaware of the work that can take place in the studio when producing vocals. It is a nice fantasy to believe that the lead vocal on this song particularly the climax was recorded in one take from beginning to end. But it simply didn’t happen. I haven’t seen any performance from Mariah in this period to suggest that she was capable of singing this vocal in the studio never mind in a live performance. If she could have, she would have.

React to "the one" charmbracelet album performance for MTV. It isn't a performance people normally react to but it is proof that this climax was live because the song prior to the one she does a similarly complex climax as my saving grace with the same amount of ease. Now if someone thinks that performance was lipped then we know they are trolling.
Okay. So I used to think that the climax in this song was LIVE......but I don't think that it is. Mariah has a tell when she's lip-syncing. She turns her head to the side and away from the camera.....and she makes the face most of us probably make trying to hit her notes. And.....the audio is suddenly very clear & not airy when she was singing live in the beginning and at the end. But I'm with you. She sang it live at some point.....so who cares??? Lollll. Enjoyed this, as always.
The climax is NOT a pre-recorded track it's LITERALLY THE ALBUM VERSION LOL. After she says "For" the climax album version kicks in. At the end of the day it's still her voice and there isn't a singer you can name that I can't pull up a video of them lipsyncing to a track. That Includes great vocalists like: Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, LADY GAGA, and many more. We love all those artists but lipsyncing has been apart of the music industry for generations and people need to get over it! Also, these music artists need to stop doing these interviews on national television lying saying that they will never lipsync. Which they always end of doing because they are human beings and your voice can't always be flawless. On a sidenote watch the Soul Train Awards performance of My Saving Grace. That climax is better and more likely live considering she used the audio from that performance during her Charmbracelet tour. Which is what she use to normally do(recycle audio from old performances) before she got clever and started making new pre-recorded tracks after the E=MC2 Era.
I love that you acknowledge the fact that pre-recorded or not, she still sang it. A lot of people attack Mariah when she uses pre-recorded tracks as if it was not Mariah's voice still singing those parts.

I don’t know if it’s live or not. but, one way or another she hit the notes at one time in the studio. So she can do it if she wants too I’m sure of that.
This is one of my favorite songs from Charmbracelet which happens to be my favorite album of hers. I think the climax was partly sung but 95% of it was live no doubt. You should react to her 100% live performance of this on the BET though! You'll be totallly shooook! 🤗
faithoffaith Now you're back acting like an idiot. You're such a dumb
Wtf are you talking about? I'm not dumb I am telling the truth! she did sing this live once actually! So what if I got the BET wrong it was the Soul Train Awards. I have the link now here it is! ruclips.net/video/KcW7y5FVypU/видео.html
It’s live. She lipsynced “butterfly” on Oprah, and Oprah was so pissed, you can see it in her eyes. So queen Mimi wouldn’t dare...
It's quite different than the original. And besides Mariah would never lip synch at Oprah and her voice in this era is beautiful
High mix belt is her comfort zone. She struggle at mid chest belts. And the passagjo register between her chest and head belt. Thats why her high mix belt seems so effortless
Honestly, it is very hard to guess if it’s live or pre- recorded! My queen Mariah!
It’s completely live until “For delivering me, yeah” until “whithin you”. The climax in pre-recorded. In any case, before pre-recorded was already amazing and powerful
Easy! If you want to know whether it's live, watch Oprah's expressions; she hates lip-syncing on her show... Hence it's *LIVE* 😊
During the Charmbracelet era, she lipped the climaxes while promoting the album and the Charmbracelet Tout was ICONIC. I love Vision of Love, Zurich 🙌
Im letting you know 100. She had prerecorded vocals playing..but this was a good live vocal era for her. So she is singing live louder over the prerecorded track...but like you said, it was so effortless it blends to well. When she doesn't have the pretty live face, shes live..eyes closed, singing ugly face lol.. live.
Trust it's live
BROOOO YOU GOTTA REACT TO MY SAVING GRACE LIVE AT THE SOUL TRAIN AWARDS!!! THAT IS THE PERFORMANCE OF A LIFETIME!!!!!!
You couldn't have any pre recorded tracks on OPRAH! It was either 100% liped or 100% live no in between! Plus this was different from studio version ,u can tell in the oitch she was killing it more here !
I was there She saaang it
KILLER VOCALIST...!!! No la comparen con nadie... ella es ÚNICA 👏
Yeeeah shes famous technically for transitions. Chest to falsetto is so connected, effortless jumps
You should see the cover version of this song by Jona. It's amazing. Hope you would make the reaction video to the cover too.
Definitely LIVE ❤️
Live ! That’s it …, even if not 100% is wow too ….
Increible!!
vocals from Charmbracelet Era still get us SHOOKETH up to these days.
Have you been even seen Jona's version? Not being shadey i do love mimi but for me Jona's version gives me chills
SHE WAS SINGING LIVE BUT THE CLIMAX IDK BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS LIVE 🔥🔥🔥
Its live cause the few times ever she’s not sung live cause she was sick you can tell when she is cause she doesn’t really move she like stands still and doesn’t move her arms QUEEN UNTOUCHABLE!!!!
Climax wasn’t live but the rest was
OK and she still recorded it❤️
React to "the one" charmbracelet album performance for MTV. It isn't a performance people normally react to but it is proof that this climax was live because the song prior to the one she does a similarly complex climax as my saving grace with the same amount of ease. Now if someone thinks that performance was lipped then we know they are trolling.
Theres a different transition with the recorder version, it is live you should see the other live version of this song, the climax is even better
LIVE.
Saw this tour in Paris in 2004.
💯 percent live
Amazing song 😍
Nobody indeed 🙋👍 Only Mariah Carey 🙏
I knew it. You have a trained ear to hear that part where you said "that can't be". I heard it too
Hey you should see JONA VIRAY do this song.. if she can give justice to the song.. promise its worth your time..
It was live
This song is about a story that her and her father share memory together so wrote this song about it
EVERYTHING WAS LIVE!!! She can do it, duh! She is MARIAH CAREY!
LIVEEEEEE
Which is what she use to normally do(recycle audio from old performances) before she got clever and started making new pre-recorded tracks after the E=MC2 Era.
still it's her voice
