We do a bit of everything, including aerospace, car mods, restorations, farmaceutical etc. I get to play with a bit of everything stainless, titanium, aluminium, mild steel.. I have been watching your stuff on Instagram for quite a while now, but only just saw your RUclips stuff. Great job dude 👍 On the subject of the video, I must say the new speedglass it's an AMAZING helmet. At our company we bought 3 optrel helmets a few months ago. 3 Panoramma CLT. They had the fancy crystal Tec thingy. We noticed in the biggining something was weird with the shade distribution across the lens. It was much brighter in the corners and the transition was very irregular and different in all the three helmets. Felt like some defect with the product. It was quite bad when you were welding and looking from an angle in a more awkward position, you would get some areas of your visor much brighter then others. We mention this to an optrel sales rep, and using a bright light we would able to trigger the helmet and make it so easy to see the issue that even he ended up admitting we were right. He then brought 2 more helmets to try, they all had the same issue. We ended up trying a crystal 2.0 for a while these have the normal rectangular lense, and although it was better it was still far from what we expected for a 500pound helmet. After a lot back and fourth we finally manage to return the optrel helmets and. got the 3m speedglass curved screen. Now l, what a difference! The shade in the speedglass is smooth all the way around lts perfect! It also goes to a 2.0 or 2.5 off shade like the optrels. The field of view it's about the same as the CLT if not better. I was the one who advise my boss to get the optrels. I was so disappointed. How can it be?!, everybody it's prazing the optrels , they are all over social media, I thought they were amazing! But now after all this and trying the speedglass. I must say without a doubt , the speedglass is a far better lense. Still prefer the isofit headgear from optrel, that was amazing, but on lense quality there is no comparison. Now keep in mind I still hope the optrel thing has been just bad luck with a bad batch, I just can't believe so many people use them and no one seems to mention this. But nonetheless this was our experience. Sorry for long comment. Best of luck👍
50 year UK welder now retired , love your videos i've got a lot to catch up on, when i started we just had handheld shields for stick welding with a small lens of one shade, the head masks were just the hand shields with a loop for your head, no auto shading, my Speedglas is at least 15 years old.
you have always been my inspiration to be a good welder. That 3M helmet, far more better than what i'm used to have. which is only manual hand held welding helmet. By the way, keep posting the good video and keep inspiring!

You wouldn't want to use the mask without the papr system as it fogs up like nobody's business also no need to use a half mask under it as you have the papr. I believe the old air hose from the 9100fx type adflo is the same fitting.
Hi, I use a Speedglas 9100 air but I can't keep it for more than a few hours because it causes severe neck pain due to its weight. Is anyone else in this situation? Thank you
@@EndlessWeldingnFabrication Inner plate gives at least two ghost reflections, one per eye. The second set of ghosts could be from outer protective lens - normally they are not visible on flat lenses with curved protective lens unless you are too close and they move into the field of view... But if the both of lenses are curved then ghosts are visible much closer to the arc. Thanks for the heads up...
I’ll never spend that kind of money on a hood again after buying my first speedglas. Great hood. Clearest spectrum on the lens, but I’ll only TIG with it since money IS an issue with me.🤣
I wish they would've kept the same style pivot as the 9100 style helmet. And mine is yellow when welding. I like the bluish tint so much better. Also do you k ow how to reset the Bluetooth to zero out the numbers?
I'm not a professional welder but i love to weld as a hobby, so would you buy such a helmet if you're just a hobby welder and if you have the money to afford such a helmet? Also can/would you use this helmet only for tig welding or is it good for everything like Mig/Mag Stick?
You can use it for everything but its best for tig only because of its design, and i tend to go overkill on things i do so i would want the best mask even as a hobbies
I’ve used my speed glass for years, mig tig stick whatever. These things are meant to do it all. If you’re gonna mig get an cover lense for the inside!!!! Only hood I’ll ever use
Hi Calvin, For me there're 2 majors issues for this mask: no grinding mode and no respirator option (what about welders health?!?). Fortunatly there's bluetooth!
That's why there are 10 different Speedglas to choose from. If you need a grinding mask, you buy the one that has it, if you need air, you buy one that has it. This G5-02 is made without either, you wear safety glasses with a respirator like majority of welding masks on the market. So no, this mask has non of those "major issues" you speak of, it's just a different mask for a different demographic.
Alright bro, give it to me straight. Now that you've had this g5-02 for a while would you still recommend it? I can't find any other reviews anywhere on yt and that's kinda sus to me. Maybe its a bust and totally overpriced.
Is all that Bluetooth connectivity running down battery life? I weld 10h a day. My other question, can you turn it into a passive mode? There are situation where i have to look through a bevel and the sensor cant pick up the uv light which causes to blind me.
Which helmet can I buy without a pepper unit that has your g05 setting that you can change your filter light from dark to natural to I forgot the third one please let me know cuz I'm trying to buy one but I've already got a pepper unit so I don't need the 05 but what lens can I interchange
How do you find the two of them for tig welding open roots or any other instance where the clear line of sight to the arc might be blocked? I use an Optrel Satellite that ive had for years for stick welding and the odd bit of mig, but it's not much good for tig as flickers. Plus will take a lot to pull me away from passive gold coated lenses for tig lol
My old 9002 speedglas has been dropped and kicked ,, its lasted over ten years and is still going well ,, wonder if the curved filter will be as tough. Without a forced air feed , I wonder if the mask will mist more in a cold workshop sitting closer to your face ??
@@tomthompson7400 the inner lens has a anti fog coating. According to 3M the multi layer curved design of the lens is significantly stronger compared to flat or older design counterpart. It’s housing is also feels to be very robust.

I stick weld 350+ amps daily, is this hood good for it ? Money no issue I just need the best hood for my job, god only gave me two eye balls.
It is the absolute best. I highly recommend it.
for ur job the g5-01 would be the best with the adflo, which is no option on the 02...

Tested one out for tig welding, there are 4 duplicates of your tungsten as if its mirrored around it,will put you off focus real quick

@Will Swift not enough to buy a hood over $150. Shop welders in AZ are doing really well at $25 p/h. In other words, I don’t even make that hourly

yes theres a shade lock and the bluetooth naturally increases batterly drain but you wont even notice.

i like them gold too, very soft on the eyes and the colour is perfekt ,can see very detailed

from my experience and testing its not too bad of a problem any condensation build up is on the lower part not on the screen so you can still see

why the two different helmets?
One is air fed and is good for mig the other is lightweight and good for tig

Yeah u can just doesn't offer the full protection as a full head wrap mask like the G5-01
