First off, that dog is awesome. Happy dog birthday to them! 😁 and this is actually a very interesting topic. I know blues lawyer is thrown around a lot, I’m even guilty of using it here and there (sorry!), but for me at least it sometimes comes from the fact it’s almost taken on a new meaning of its own (I agree, not fair). Not for the regular Gibsons, but when I see these guitars that cost $5k+. Guitars that I can’t imagine a standard salary covering. With that said, I definitely understand the irony that even at $5k+ even most lawyers wouldn’t be able to comfortably afford a guitar in that range. Also on the topic of used guitars, I am 100% in agreement. You can get mint guitars for 60% cost of a new one, so it blows my mind why people do that (unless they have so much expendable income that it doesn’t affect them 🤔). Anyways cool discussion like always 👍🤘🎸
@@danthegeetarman Thanks! I think the last three new guitars I bought were all under $300. Matt is a proud blues lawyer, and always working to get better.
@ I should also clarify I’ve never subscribed to the notion of whether playing skills factored into the blues lawyers or doctors… I’m envious whether they can play good or not 😜 But either way Matt gets a pass anyways in my book because he clearly loves the guitars and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. I may be a little envious of the more extreme cases (like the 5k+ guitars), but at the end of the day anybody who loves Guitar is a friend of mine 😁💪
My poly guitars (all my guitars have poly finishes) have plenty of dings. The difference is that a blemish on a poly guitar has to be more significant than one on a nitro guitar. 😀 I feel kind of blues lawyer adjacent. I've had a successful non-music that allows me to spend more money than I should on guitars (and synths and...). But I'm more about having a lot of different "work horse" instruments than any custom shop guitars.
@@RobertFisher1969 as the "non-blues lawyer" on the show, I got many many miles out of my 2002 SG Faded Special. There were a few venues I played where I would have felt comfortable having a Custom there, but honestly the risk would have made me really nervous.
Henri is my boy. I raised him from the time he was 3 months old. He just turned 12 this week and probably has another 4 or 5 years in him. Best dog I ever had. His only "flaw" is a deplorable excess of personality.
about 25 years ago, my friend a Lawyer asked me to help him sell his showroom condition. 1962 Strat after a lot of work I finally got C$5000 for him stores were offering me 2000. He was a great lawyer, but it’s tough to earn a living, sadly, he passed away about nine years ago. I couldn’t afford it being a high school teacher supporting a family. Respect to all players out there.

Sorry for spelling and grammar mistakes I use speech to text because of severe arthritis. Keep up the good work guys.
@@martydibergi5228 that's a wonderful story and you were a good friend to help him out. Thanks for the comment!
