• Vellam (வெல்லம்) in Tamil. Also Paagu Vellam (for Jaggery made out of sugarcane), Karumbu chakkarai, Naatu chakkarai or kalkandu for the crystallised and sugary powder form of Jaggery made from sugarcane. And karuppatti or Panang karupatti for jaggery made from Palm wine.
• Vellam (വെല്ലം) (for jaggery made from sugarcane) in Malabar, as well as North Malabar and chakkara in the rest of Kerala in Malayalam, sharkkara (ശര്ക്കര) is a term used in Malayalam. Karuppaṭṭi or karippaṭṭi or "karipetti" (കരിപെട്ടി) or "chakkara" is used for jaggery made from palm wine, and panam kalkandam (പനം കല്കണ്ടം) is for sugar crystal made from coconut.

Wow, very nice process, very little human handling involved and hygienic. Just have to do it in a completely enclosed building thereby reducing contaminants like dust dirt and flies.

can you tell me what is the more healthy correct process of making jaggery and what is the wrong method .because jaggery nowadays r getting spoilt in a preparation of food fast in 2 or 3 days itself .it is particularly asked as it will be benefitting for temples or any place of worship offering prasads and for many home makers with this frequent complaint .

I am very much an admirer of India and its people. I only watch bollywood movies and if I get the money ,to travel to India and see this beautiful diverse and heritage rich country. I am what would be considered poor in my country. I receive enough to live on but that is it. I do not have money for luxurious. I cannot even get enough money to pay for dental work I need done. I am greatful that I am lucky to live in Australia, And thank God for what I do have because I know there are a lot far worse then me.
