A lot of us were worried about you Steve! Hope you have some sort of health insurance. For the year I've been watching, I never miss an episode, even if it's a car I care little about or a re-upload. Keeping you financially healthy is also important!!
Glad you are back Steve and looking good. Everyone was worried about you. Take care of yourself. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦
Glad your back Steve. The problem with going in the shop these days is a lack of parts. Especially for us older models.😅
Plus the "aftermarkets" never rival the quality of the "originals".
yep and sometimes you can’t even get aftermarket parts for them. I have a 2004 Honda Element though not a classic some parts have been discontinued and some aren’t available even in the aftermarket which means having to go to the junkyard. Case point trying to get HVAC Heater pipe dealer price if available around $30-40 bucks. No aftermarket available. Recycler wants $145! Lucky for me I am just trying to be proactive. Love my vehicle but at some point I would have to be realistic and get something newer but then again there’s no guarantee that parts would be readily available. May have to go back to 60’s Chevy’s😅
Yeah I hate reruns
@@googleusergpnever gonna find parts for this Ole frame😂 Forget about shock absorbers.

Yeah, but I still don't know why he's wearing that big ol' chef's hat in that clip. What's up with that? 🤔
What year was he canceled ?
Growing up in NYC in the early 70’s, I recall those cabs. My friends father had a Biscayne and we were try to figure a away to replace its nose . The cab ones were so cool.
had a 1975 Caprice Brougham. What a ship ! Drove is for 12 years before the back end rusted off.
Welcome back, Steve!!!! You were missed.
There's nothing more important that your health. Good to have you back steve!
A family up the street had two of those bought brand new. They were really something. I miss seeing cars with all those great colors. Cars now are all black, white and silver.
And that hospital wall champagne color beige.....yuck
Same colors as appliances. Come to think of it all that's missing from many of these style-less, no personality modern ̶c̶a̶r̶s̶ vehicles is the Maytag name.
Great to see you back on The Crawl ! To me, this is the best channel on RUclips. And Steve's research, models, and magazines/brochures are a daily 'must see'. Even a rerun is fine with me, as there is a lot of information in a short time to digest! Hope you make a full recovery . Thanks for all your efforts! Burt.
You paid to say this?

Great to see you back Steve!
Glad you're good to go Steve. Live long and..prosper!!!!!
So glad that you are back and really hope that your recent "service" puts you in top shape again. Sorry for doubting you and surmising that you had simply ghosted us. It seems it is all too easy to assume the worst about people these days - something I need to work on. I should have known better - being about the same age and stature, and having had my own extended shop rebuild last year. You and your great channel have become an integral part of my morning routine (coffee, cats, & cars), and you were greatly missed. Take it easy and know that you are greatly appreciated.
Takes a big man to admit he could do better. Good on ya!
Do we know what was wrong with Steve?
An excellent post, oldyellow! For many reasons. 👍
This applies to allot of us sir!! Crazy times we're living in!!!!!
Welcome back. Hopefully whatever "tune up" you had to get puts you back in top form and it's good to see you back. I knew there was an explanation for your absence. Hopefully, it wasn't something that major.....
We got the VIN, we win: 1 for Chevrolet, N for Caprice Classic, 67 for two door convertible, R for 400 V8, 4 for 1974 model year, Y for Wilmington, DE assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Wilmington, DE plant operated from 1947 to 2009 and last assembled the Pontiac Solstice. Today, Amazon occupies the property and has a distribution center there. The "Comfortron" AC unit (automatic temperature control) was another option. The "Four Season" AC (RPO code C60) was what was most seen on cars with AC. Off the top of my head, the 400 V8 with two barrel was available in all states except CA in 1974, but the 400 V8 with four barrel was a CA only option.
No tag, can't brag, but easy to figure out, no doubt: ST74 for 1974 model year, 1BN67 for Chevrolet (1) Caprice Classic (BN) two door convertible (67), Y for Wilmington, DE assembly, A52 for bench seat, 813 or 843 or 847 or 848 for Blue interior trim, possible 26 for Bright Blue Metallic lower exterior paint and A for White convertible top.
Again, welcome back and glad to see you again.
Wilmington became a Saturn plant in '99 for the new L-series. It closed shortly after Chrysler in Newark.
@@kevinwong6588 I know that. It closed in 2009 as stated.

Welcome back now back to programing. My dad had 2 Impalas and they looked like the Caprices. Boy I wish I could have those Impalas now but better yet I wish I had my dad still.😢😞
Glad you are back Steve. I hope you are okay.
Good to see you back l,was starting to think you might have been cancelled,😅 ha ,ha
Whaddya mean "Cancelled"?
I'm so glad to know that you are out of the hospital and doing better! Love the Junkyard Crawl.
Good morning, Steve. I'm so happy you're back
in good health . 😊
1974 my parents bought a brand new Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon clamshell tailgate , greatest invention , red 400 4 Barrel once I got my driver's permit and license I flip the lid on the Breather just to hear that four-barrel Roar. Family car. My mother also had a Leadfoot. That was a really good car at replace the 1966 Chevrolet Impala. After I got out of the army I found a 71 Chevy Impala clamshell tailgate love those cars. Anyway thanks Steve I enjoyed this one love those Chevrolet's and their stock steering wheels.
My parents bought a '73 Impala wagon after a runaway Greyhound bus forced their 1970 Kingswood wagon off the road. I always thought it was too bad they couldn't wait until the '74s came out. They had a much cleaner looking front end, a whole new palette of colors, and I liked the different taillights too.
Glad to have you back Steve, we missed having your insight. Thanks for all that you do.
Yayyyyyyyy! He’s Back!🎉
Nice to see Steve back again. I hope all the troubles are behind you!

So glad to see you back. I hope you have a blessed return to work
I remember sitting in the gas lines with my parents as a kid. We had a big Oldsmobile Delmont 88 with a 425 2 Barrel!
Glad you’re ok Steve. I remember what I call the hand me down years on the full size Chevys 74 to 76. With the introduction of the new Caprice in 75 the old 74 became the the Impala/Belair , Same in 76 with the introduction of rectangular headlights the 75 style became the Impala
I owned a 74 Impala that was built in Aug 1973. They all shared the same frame and platform at that time.
1974 was the only year the Impala and Bel Air had their own unique nose apart from the Caprice from 1971-76, every other year was either a slight grille variation or a hand me down from the previous year Caprice. Surprisingly the only thing on this car's nose that would interchange with a 74 Impala are the bumper and the attached bumper filler
Another great video! That car on the right deserves its own video eventually
!
Yo Mags .
Glad You’re back and runnin’ better ! 🤙🏼

Good one Steve. I do believe that the rear deck louvers were a 1971 one year only for GM
I noticed the same error😅.

Steve, first year for the Caprice was 1965. I also remember that the advertised "400 4-bbl" was actually the 402 rat motor. The 400 mouse was only available in 2bbl, but the early ones '70-'71 had 4- bolt mains. I bought, and pulled, a 454 from a '75 convertible Caprice for $125 back in '80. The rest of the car seemed in great shape. Don't know why he junked it.
If a 402 or a 400 small block was under the hood, the fender had the 400 emblem.
@@marioncobaretti2280 maybe not a a Re-paint +-

Hey Steve! Good to see ya! My dad had a 1966 Caprice with the 325 hp 396. I learned how to tell what differential gears a car had with that car. A 4.10 posi! That thing would launch!
I had shoulder surgery last week.i look forward to Steve's videos every morning!
The New York experimental front end treatment along with the sharp fender creases sort of resembled a Dodge St. Regis (full size Dodge, anyway) from around the 79 model year.
Dodge always used older ford and gm styling cues to save money.....
The Chrysler corporate "R" body front end was my first impression as well.

Glad to see you're out of the shop Steve! Definitely no picnic. I know after spending 8 weeks there last fall. And coming out with less parts I went in with sucks too.
My parents had a '73 Impala wagon. When I was still a "junior" driver, I accidentally backed into the front of a '69 Caprice. I was not going fast for the compression bumper to work, but I put a nice dent in it. No damage at all to the '69 Caprice. Oh, and Dad found no humor in that at all.
Wish you the best with your health. Hope .30 over was enough. Really enjoy your videos, love the detail. Thank you

Welcome back, Steve! Love those old Impalas and Caprices, especially the coupes and drop-tops. My parents had a maroon ‘75 Impala coupe with Cragar SS wheels, and that was a good looking car. (Fit the whole family comfortably, too.) The first new car my parents ever bought.
Hi Steve. Thought you might be on vacation. Hope all is well. I go by 2 old cars when riding my bike here in Connecticut. 1 is a 1958 Packard. He had a group of cars on his parking lot. I think of you when riding by.
Get well soon Steve!
Glad you're back, Steve! Missed you, and very happy that you are OK! My buddy and I had a little car-flipping business back in the 90's in the SF Bay Area, and our "company car" was a 1974 Caprice Convertible with the 454 and turbo 400. A/C and power everything. Man, that thing was a beast! It was like a burgundy red with a kinda cream colored vinyl bench seat interior and the same off-white convertible top. As an always-California car, she had zero rust, and IIRC only had around 50k miles on it. Bringing back memories, man! Those were some fun times. We mostly bought and sold convertible classic "muscle cars", lots of cool stuff passed through our hands. We had to be two of the first car-flippers! We made money on most of them...my buddy Mike was a stickler for money, and kept track of every cent made or lost. On one car we made a whole 26 cents profit! Always had a blast, though. Thanks, Steve!
Steve, thank you for making my morning coffee enjoyable, keep the good work going, thanks again. Ed
That was a nice ride at one time. We had a Caprice in our auto shop in Tech school. It's the car I learned how to rebuild drum brakes and 4 brl carborater
After working on drum brakes for like 45 years...I still hate working on them. What a pain in the ass. What an advancement disc brakes are in terms of function AND ease of service.
Glad to see you back Steve!
Sounds like, even though you are back, the allergies were kicking your tail when you recorded this video.
My parents had a new 1975 Caprice Convertible - red with white interior, wire wheel covers, 454 engine, dual exhaust, automatic temperature control , F41 suspension and gauge package. It had all options and was an excellent car, however, it was traded in on a 1979 Caprice.
A friend of mine in high school back in the eighties had a '74 Caprice with the 454 he called "The Fortress". His parents gave it to him for his first car, and that thing would spin that right rear tire for days. Lost count of how many "rollbacks" we did with it (he did eventually spit the driveshaft out of it). Utterly Indestructible.
Rollbacks? Would that be like reverse slams where the car rolls backwards 10, 15 feet (on an AT) and you slam the gearshift from reverse to drive simultaneously flooring the gas? That type of abuse?
@@kenttalsma7906 Yep. Works even better with the car facing uphill.

In Virginia, ride with my mom to get gas on odd number days, waited in line back then. Granddad had a '72 Impala 400 coupe that eventually made it's way to our family after he passed. Different times for sure then
Caprice started in 65 as a 4 door hard top only. Sort of like a 4 door SS at the top of the line. In 66 it gained a 2 door hard top also.
That was the”Caprice option”. The car was still considered an Impala. They were officially released in 66 as it’s own model with several variants.
