Stefuu exactly. as a german car guy that is the First thing that comes to mind when i hear "kkk" too Bad for our American gearheads that some fuckers over there give the three k's a Bad name😂
Master T That really is an unfortunate combination of letters. Funny story, where I live they teach a "KKK rule" for treating open wounds (in english it's something like cold, elevation, compression). You could snap an interesting photo of an elementary school class with a big KKK plastered on the blackboard.
The Sauber-Mercedes C9 is one of a handful of cars that could top 400kmh on the old Mulsanne Straight. 730hp and only 1995lbs!!...it is a fitting car to wear the 'Silver Arrow' name :)
God, seeing that XJR-9 brings tears to my eyes. I remember that historic day, when the three silk cut cats crossed the line at the same time. It was an historic moment, when a normally aspirated car claimed victory amongst turbocharged opposition.
The rules didn't specify engine types but that didn't mean they were lenient. They specified fuel allocation. Sure, you could have any engine you liked as long as you could get the most energy from your fuel allotment. It was, in fact, a fuel economy formula. Greenies, hippies and tree huggers rejoice. It was not an engine free-for-all in any sense but it probably was the golden age of motorsport. That said, there's more bull talked about Group C than just about any other formula, save for the old Group 5 from the late 60s / early 70s.
I think only the Lambo and the Aston fall under "you may not know about" on this list, most people that know Group C probably know all the other cars quite well. Also, the Countach QVX technically isn't a Lambo, but a Lambo engine in a Spice chassis.
@@siniydenSheldon's 1984 crash was in the Nimrod Aston Martin not the AMR1in this clip. I know it's an old comment but it might save other people's confusion.
Group C is my favorite racing category ever!! (with Group B rally and IMSA GT cars) The 80's wasn't only the best time in music, but also in motorsports! So much individuality!
Thank you for this video. I miss the Group C so much. For decades my friends and l would make the trip down to Sebring and by far the most exciting era with the BEST sounding cars were the Group C years. Big thumbs up!
That was a pretty good video.....The Aston did sound really good, like you'd expect from a warmed up V8, but the C9 Sauber really was the meanest sounding car in Group C......Even with Turbo's it still sounded 100% Grunty V8.
Having seen the Aston AMR1 at Paul Ricard, it's one of the loudest Group C ever. Even at 600m from me the engine sound still covered all the cars closer to me.

GeraArg The 956 isn't as well known as the 962 because it wasn't run as long as the 962 was. REALLY good video, Thanks to VisioRacer! Small error - the Nissan ZX you featured was only single turbo. It used the VG30ET engine developed from the one found in the Z31 300zx turbo road car.
I know!! Also that car at full boost is making more like 900hp. It was one of the more powerful cars in the C2 class cars. But since it doesn't go over 230mph like the C1 cars can. Its a C2 car. But yes that blow off vaulve.
There should be a class of racing where they allow the competitor to do whatever they want to their cars. No restrictions on engine size or turbos. No restrictions on downforce of driver aids. Let them go absolutely freaking balls to wall insane. It would be freaking awesome. You would have cars out there with 2500 hp and 4000lbs of downforce. The Sauber C9 was one of my favourite cars of the GT5 when it was introduced, I am not sure what year but most of those cars were in it.😊
The 956 was untouchable from 82 to 84.
I was at the Times Grand Prix at Riverside Raceway when that Jaguar won. Brabham and Morton driving.
