Remember driving to the airport in Edmonton when she was dropping off equipment to be taken to Fort McMurray. An incredible sight, people were lined up for kms to see her.

I used to live under the approach path to the local airport and saw her coming in for a landing once. All those wheels... impressive is too weak of a word.

She used to land often in Bangor Maine where she used to pick-up heavy cargo for delivery. I had seen her often and wish now that I would have had my camera to record the visits. I hope she can be restored.

The queen of the skies, the AN-225, will fly again in the future. Even nicer and maybe a bit bigger in the colors of the Ukraine. Ukrainians can do it !
Slava Ukraini forever and ever !

An-225 Meriya was one of the best planes ever the largest the heaviest and the toughest planes I have ever seen. Meriya was a true fighter for Ukraine, she's having a resting place, her soul is there still alive trying to survive. Meriya was one the most attractive plane, but now . . . REST IN PEACE MY QUEEN 😭😭😭😭😭

I didn’t think that an aircraft that I’ve never flown, or even been a passenger in, could illicit such a heavy emotional response from me. I was lucky enough to spend some time on an AN-124 when we were moving some H-60’s from Norfolk, VA to the UAE and the scale and feeling of that aircraft was incredible so I can only imagine what a thrill it was to feel Mriya rotate and lift off of the runway. This was so unnecessary. Almost as if a child were calling the shots. Like he got embarrassed on the playground so he decided to destroy something that the person who embarrassed him loved as some sort of sick revenge. Not surprisingly, it likely helped to galvanize support for the Ukrainian people amongst those who had up to that point not really declared support for one side or the other. War is so awful. I wish that these narcissistic leaders would finally realize it and stop using it as anything other than an absolute last resort for your own defense. God help us all.
