Hey mate. Perth sparky here. Great idea with punching a screwdriver in through the gyprock to measure out. To make it even quicker so you don’t have to go back and forth between lights to get your screwdriver back, punch the whole with the screwdriver and then from a distance you can actually insert the hook (one of the edges of the U shape) from the end of the Milwaukee tape into the hole you punched. You can easily do a whole room this way! I filed that hook down a little so it matches the size of my beater screwdriver that I use for punching holes and it works perfectly 👌🏽 Great content too mate 🤙🏽
Fantastic to see you back at YT! Helpful video, wondering do you ever use a laser distance meter? I got UNI-T one from Ali Express for only $40 and it is damn good, excellent value! Also any recommendations for basic entry level laser that would be useful for an electrician?
I don't personally own one but I've used one before, they're pretty sick! So Ali Express isn't too bad? If I'm buying tools online it's usually from eBay. I'm Milwaukee all the way but CPI makes good entry laser levels. Just make sure it's green and has a plumb dot (CPI CL101G)
@@coreybruhn well I wouldn't say Ali Express is good... but if you know exactly what you want and don't mind not getting instructions in english you can save a few bucks. Thank you for the laser tip!!
I started with the cheap stanley I see in your list. Yuck. Bought Komelon. Lost it. Nothing bad to say, nothing good to say. Went Milwaukee, and it was great, but the magnet would always pick up metal shavings so I had to keep it taped up so it could easily be cleaned. It was more annoying than it was useful. But that tape ripped and snapped. So I went stanley fatmax, because of a big hook with no magnet, but it was too sloppy/flexible. It would hold itself without snapping if you keep it perfectly horizontal. The slightest twist and 1200mm was about the limit. I'm currently trying Crescent/Lufkin, and so far its been alright, it has a rough hook for scribing which has similar issues as a magnet, but it has readings both sides, and it I get about 3200mm standout before it breaks and not just when held perfectly horizontal. But I can feel the spring tension when I retract, you can feel the tape fluttering about inside the body, so I don't know that it will last. My next tape will be the Milwaukee model without the magnet, since it was the best one I had. One thing that annoys me is that measurement on the body. Stanley sells METRIC tapes with IMPERIAL body sizes, like WTF?!
Do you Australian have access to the new Wiha insulated 8-1 45705 I don’t think they are in the USA yet and would be interested in a review is you guys can get your hands on them just came across you Chanel and I’m a new subscriber !
Measure tape can be use also as a quick vertical level, you just hold it with a thumb from the tip and leave it open like 80-90cm.Its not 100% but it is enough for certain Works..👍
