Coroner are awesome! Their last album Grin even threw some industrial sounding elements. They just kept progressing and getting better and better. There’s another album/CD full of remixes and some unreleased stuff. They do a Beatles cover of She’s So Heavy too.
Metal vortex is 🎉 is my number one pick from the first 5 albums 🎉and I think Grim is my least favorite, yet it's all good when Coroner's the subject 🎉❤❤
Really cool to see anyone doing a reaction/review of Coroner, underground technical thrash metal legends! They are not prolific in the sense they have relatively few albums for as long as they stuck it out...then disbanded...then got back together some 15 years later (out of nowhere) for live concerts in Europe, and are now currently working on a studio album of all new material.
No one in my circle listened to them , which is a shame. I remember their Beatles cover on Headbangers Ball. Very Rush like, rhythms hard to dance or headbang to.
This is their best produced, grooviest, and probably best overall album. Best song on here imo is "About Life". The album before this one, No More Color, is almost as good. It's faster and a little more raw. Great band with a very unique style and sound that will never be duplicated. In the beginning you read that Demolition Hammer was in the similar artist category. They aren't similar in terms of sound, but they are similar in that they are both extremely underrated. You should check out "Skull Fracturing Nightmare" by them. Makes Slayer look like a petting zoo.
I first heard of Coroner in 1993, from a German guy that I met at a Voivod show. I thought he was calling them 'Corona', and it took me about 25 years to figure out that who he was actually talking about was Coroner.
This is my favorite band. Totally underrated. I think while listening you forgot something you read in the beginning: "they are called the Rush of thrash metal". And this was not only cause they are a trio. :P I think you'll love if you get to listen to something from their "Grin" album - it's even more groovier, structured and paced than this one. BTW, according to their guitarist (and leader) Tommy, they are recording a new album for some time now (he first told me this in 2018, lol), so this is something that we all can look for (albeit a new drummer, as the original retired, cause he could not keep with the other guys musically (his words), but the new guy sounds AWESOME live). They recently also added a fourth member for their live shows, as they felt they need someone to play the intros and outros to their songs (stuff like this one with the JFK report).
They were like Running Wild to me. Back in the 80s, the stuff I heard from Coroner was good, but not enough for me to go out and buy their albums. Good song tho.
If I remember correctly, Mental Vortex came out the same month as Metallica's black album. I wound up picking up after reading a review in Metal Maniacs or RIP. Coroner still do the European festival circuit semi-regularly, but I dont think they plan on releasing any new material. Also... You need to hear their deathcult demo with Tom G Warrior on vocals. Huge fan if all their albums but this demo is the best thing they did.
Trash is the whisky of music and Coroner is/was somehow not drinked by enough people considering their quality. Great choice and great reaction. Do Wilderun - the tyranny of imagination.
Shane, would be great if you could do a first listen to either "Falling From the Sky" or "Welcome to the Slaughter House" from Dark Angel's We Have Arrived album. Both songs have insane drumming which I'm sure you'll get a kick out of ;-).
I'm a big fan of this band, i recommend the song "Serpent Moves".

Everything they did is still refreshing! I still love them since school days
It's 32 years i'm listening to this album and still in love with this guys. Best band ever
Excellent and very underrated band!
Intense music!
Sharp guitar riff and lyrics also!
Good god!
This band is fucking awesome!
Yes, Coroner are fucking awesome!
Coroner fucking rule. Mental Vortex is a stone cold classic
Congratulations for the reaction! Mental vortex is absolutely amazing.
This is my favorite album of the first five🎉❤

1989 I had the great pleasure and honor to be on one of their shows nearby Aachen. This was one of the best shows I 've ever been to.
Markus! that is excellent! lucky you were there!
Best song of the album especially live imo ...🎉🎉. Metamorphosis 🎉🎉❤
One of my top five thrash bands and influenced much of my guitar playing. Grin is a different animal, but an album really worry checking out.

siente la musica con todos los sentidos. hasta con el gusto, el tacto, etc.

Beatles cover? Oh shit!! I gotta hunt that down!
Shane Diablo
I Want You ( she’s soo heavy). 👍👍
best metal band ever

Great comment, and I will def check it out!

Most underrated metal band of all time
Perfect song 10/10

Great, groundbreaking band.

When you asked “Can I read?” I thought of that part in Dumb & Dumber when Lloyd was trying to read and obviously couldn’t 😆
😂😂😂
I also really recommend Heathen's "No Stone Unturned" from The Evolution of Chaos album.

wow Tom G on vocals? I've got to check into that, thanks for the heads up my friend!
@@ShaneDiablo don't get me wrong - Ron Royce is great, but Tom singing over Coroner riffs is just next level.
Not to Bad for bunch Roadies. Nice Sound.
I agree! wow, that is crazy, I love fun nuggets like that!
Nice choice of song... I like the proggier stuff more than the straight thrash. Peace!

No More Color is killer from start to finish.
🤘🤘

It's not on spotify? they only have 3 albums on there "We Have Arrived" isn't one of them, what's the deal with that?
BOLT THROWER
@Butt Head that's correct
Masked Jackal is the best! Yes, they are a three man band.
