These videos give me amazing family memories.
My favorite ride as a kid and still is. DEAD MAN TELLS NO TALES, oh, classic, I remember the feeling, the mist of the splash and the odor on the ride, wow, its coming back to me.
When I rode on the ride last summer it broke down. We had the wonderful experience of having to wait for over an hour after the park closed before we were rescued by the fire department. Than we had to walk in the pouring rain to our bus and disney hotel room. THANKS DISNEY

At the one in Disneyland, we got stuck at the big lift hill at the end so we had to listen for about 25 minutes to the song singing by Jack Sparrow over and over again! It drove me nuts!
Wow, I'm glad they left that feature out when they built the one in Florida :p
At Magic Kingdom. The rides themselves are very similar, it's the queue that makes the biggest difference.
Throughout my childhood, I was thankfully able to go at least 100 times to each of the parks, nearly every consecutive weekend. Many of which to the Magic Kingdom involved living on this ride. I quite enjoy the changes they made to it. I understand what you're saying, though, I have a lot of changes I don't enjoy to other rides - Constance in Haunted Mansion for example. They were trying to appeal to media masses, but a lot of people do like the movies, and I find it charming and more personal.
Just what I needed to wind down my day... a video of my favorite ride in the world.
Best part of this: They use real gunpowder in the ride, no joke. You can smell it throughout most of the attraction. It's awesome! Totally takes the experience to the next level!
I really love watching these videos of rides at the Florida Parks... being a Disneyland Girl, and comparing to the originals that i grew up with. i can't wait for my first time to WDW

Am I the first to notice this? at 5:44 to 5:57 I hear John Silver from Treasure Planet talking! It's a cool easter egg since they're both pirate movies. He even says "By Thunder!"
The smell of this ride was one of my favorite parts, other then the ride itself, of course.

Yoho Yoho A pirates Life for Me! is one song i don't mind getting stuck in my head vs its a small world

My little brother was scared to go on this ride because of the drop. You know, that tiny dip at the start? Yeah.

Yes I believe the Jolly Roger your talking about is now at The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow in Hollywood Studios For it greets guests as they come into the attraction and narrates what happens though out the ride even Introduces Captain Jack Sparrow.
Man when I went to Disneyland they had Davy Jones on the mist lol and then we got stuck next to that bird and the ship wreck lol 😂

It's in the room I look into at 0:47 right on the other side of the lamp, it's just too dark to see it in the video.
I actually enjoy the line for this one.

The California ride has better drops, but the Florida ride has a lot more memories for me personally.

There's one part where they shine a wall of water down with a pirate who talks at you, but that's on the actual ride :3

@kelpie555 I spent a few weeks in Orlando last summer. Went to all the various parks but ended up spending the most time at Hollywood Studios and here at Magic Kingdom.

If you're talking about the Jolly Rodger that is SUPPOSED TO BE THERE (hint, hint, Disney...), then no, it is sadly not there. If I recall correctly, the Jolly Rodger was a there to re-enforce safety guidlines, as well to provide a bit of narration before the drop down into the basement. The basement is there to get you undernieith the railroad tracks and to the basement were most of the show happens. It's the same way for The Mansion.
Disneyland's version is so much better in terms of quality and pacing of the ride. Oh yeah and Disneyland has the smell.

@theapplefreakk There simply isn't room for an extended, immersive queue at Disneyland. In addition, Floridian weather necessitates covered queues to protect guests from heat and precipitation- a precaution that is simply a non-issue here in California. This abundance of spacious, covered area means Walt Disney World enjoys a higher amount of well-themed preshow than the Disneyland Resort.
This is all moot anyways, as the actual RIDE at Disneyland is far superior to the Magic Kingdom's version.

Unversal Studios is better in orlando and Magic kingdom better In Orlando....they actually make it a THEME park....and put you in the midlde of very detailed movie rides...LOVE IT
It is in the video, but it's quite dark. An interesting fact about that small scene is that the two players are actually at a stale-mate and neither can win.
i still say the original version of the ride was better than when they went back and made it more like the movie. my parents were disney freaks so i literally have been to these parks close to 16 times a piece. i actually was sad to see that the did this to the ride. i guess you got to appeal to the media masses now a days
Hey Sharp, which ride do you like better? Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyworld in Florida or Disneyland in California?
There is a small drop near the beginning of the ride, but there has never been a drop at the end. However, the version at Disneyland in California has multiple drops.
They are playing Chess and they are still there. I was just down there at the end of July/beginning of August.

@zzayzite200 yea the rides there are IMPROVED but the originals can not be beat. plus with all the refurbishments and the remodeling of their fantasyland land, the magic kingdom is going to look less and less of how walt planned it
@DatDudeMike09 Yeah maybe in fun aspects but in authenticity, you can't be anywhere better for movie sets than Hollywood.

Lol your not I was wondering the same thing why the Jolly Roger went away when I was at Disney World when they added the New additions ie: Captain Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and any scenes from the movies during the major refurbishment in 05-06. So now it is good to know that the Jolly Roger is getting used again in the parks

Last time I went on this ride, there was this annoying kid who kept trying to cut in line. He even went as far as to push me aside so that he could get on the ride first. Luckily, his mother found him, reprimanded him, and profusely apologized to me. I get it, it's a nice ride, but wait your turn. It's only 10 minutes.

Excuse me, Sharp, I was wondering if you knew something about the queue here. When I was a child, I loved for someone to hold me up and look through one of the windows to skeletons at a table playing a game(I can't quite remember if it was poker or chess, unfortunately, it's been that long!). When I've been lately, I haven't been able to spot the window. Did they remove it when they updated for the movies, or is it in the longer super-busy day queue? I miss this little detail so much.

I think the only major difference is that Disneyland had the swamp at the very beginning where you see that man sitting in his house, I guess he's playing a guitar. Other than that, pretty much the same.

Mt. California has 2 drops and this doesn't. So I agree.
This ride was better, pre-modernization to match the movie, more-or-less.
The beginning was a lot brighter, and consisted of a pre-pirate strike, with villagers and townsfolk enjoying their lives. Once you went down the drop, the pirate story starts.
Not much of the original theme song still there, and few scenes are original. It was better once....
And the cast members had to say good morning George and good night George or the ride will malfunction that is like C.R.E.E.P.Y. Anyway what killed him was a falling plank and if you say George 3 times it is said something will p

@xCaLLMeGHeTTo well DUH LOL...i mean thats where alot ALOT of movies are made in there backlot...hell Pirates 4...well some of it...was made back there....the one thing im jealous about is Universal hollywood getting Transformers ride.....i mean islands of Adventure is by far a AMAZING park...and we Got Spiderman which im not complaining....BUT...the been rumoring bout Changing it into DC and Putting a Transformer ride to replace Spiderman....
