Giants Causeways Eclipse was a race for the ages.
Sakhee, back in 4th, turned out to be the best of the lot.
It was stacked with Top G1 Horses.
Yes the Iron horse race and the one Falbrav won a couple of years after were two of my favourites, both stacked with top top horses.
Kalanisi was the quicker colt but that bugger GC just wouldn’t quit…😅
Around the same time, they made the Prince of Wales' a Group 1; ever since then the Eclipse has been a weakened affair that draws a small field w/ one, maybe two top horses; unfortunately the 2024 edition won't be more than a public workout unless City of Troy has picked up any more bad habits from Auguste Rodin😧
Some legendary horses! Giants causeway is a real legend! So you think was outstanding, i really loved st marks basilica he had an incredible turn of foot.
The Iron Horse! My favourite from Ballydoyle.
Maybe the best ride Ryan Moore ever gave Aidan O'Brien was that stellar job he did moving Workforce to the lead 5 furlongs out so that the horse would be breathing fire when So You Think came a calling in the final furlong🤣

I remember george washington getting beat in this race and sea the stars
Gorgeous George was unlucky not to win that day with Seamie and Frankie too busy watching each other to let Notnowcato steal the win under a clever Moore ride. If Kinane had been on George that day the result may have been different. Sea the Stars wasn't beaten in this race, he quickened twice in the final 2 furlongs to pull out his usual 1-2 length win.
Giant’s Causeway was a great horse & his Eclipse was one of the best with Sakhee & Kalinisi.

Can’t understand why a group one, eclipse, would only have 4 runners,
Sea the stars and new approach both pulled out the irish derby the night before
Its a wonder new approach didnt run in the eclipse
Would have won the irish derby by a mile
New approach was injured
