Every single time I watch a Marty Stuart video where he is talking about the people he knew and played with, I want to watch more of them. Every. Single. Time.
Beautiful testimony. Very encouraging. When I walk home from work each week I sing "the Weight" just like Marty and the Staples taught me. Every time. Never get tired of the song or the stories of the ones singing it.
Pop's & family were one of the reasons I play guitar. Marty, this story brought a tear to my eye, I can't think of a more worthy trustee for "Excalibur"
I know it's 2 years later but I just saw this. It brought a tear to my eye also. Honestly. No one tells a story like Marty and no one plays guitar like Marty. LEGEND.
This is amazing! I love Mavis and her solo stuff but didn’t know much about the Staples Singers. The history of Country and Gospel music is so important to archive for future generations.
Great story. And for those who never heard of that great record from the 90s that Mr. Stuart made reference to- I urge you to seek it out as its a great recording. I believe the Al Green/Lyle Lovett duet of "Funny How Time Slips Away" won a grammy( Mr. Green's 1st non-gospel one) but the whole recording is priceless to me & a snapshot of story telling music with different labels put on them. I think the great Conway Twitty/Sam Moore duet of "Rainy Night In Georgia" was among the last Mr. Twitty ever recorded before his untimely passing.
Much respect to Marty Stuart for honoring the Staples Singers so eloquently and soulfully

I am just so glad I started listening to Marty Stuart. Puts a smile in my heart.

Do you use a lot of tremolo on your guitar?
Amen to that..

I'm crying now!
Me too!!!
The Staples brought me here, but this cat seem cool. Anyone Pops respected is good enough for me.

What a lovely story? Thank you so much for sharing it!
Love the Staples Singers and love Marty!
Just learning about Marty Stuart from watching Ken Burn's Country Music. He looks so much like my brother, it's eerie. Damn fine musician, too.
Fantastic!👍🏿

Why was this great scene cut from the documentary?
Is that a rosewood telecaster?
Yes - late 60's -- like George's -- (with mods)
@@BenPrevo I've heard that they are heavy guitars...
@@kitano0 Quite often -- yes
