charlie chann I feel like one persons opinion of her wouldn’t be accurate. Like how you would have different people say different things about you. Also you have to factor that people who were once peers with famous people but did not ever reach any success themselves are often very very jealous and do nothing but spread negativity about them.
Agreed. At the start, I thought is was a bit awkward - then I realised I was just being self-concious and critical. Then I realized its awesome she is so genuine and free.
Some people in the comments said her dancing is corny, but I love it. It’s the kind of dancing people do in their living rooms, dance classes, clubs, music festivals, etc. when they’re just really feeling the music and not worried about what anyone thinks of them. That’s that most freeing kind of dancing.
+Alyssa Bao Ikr?! I love watching her dance. I can almost see the music flowing thru her veins. She just so fckn real.... her authenticity hooked me quick-like!
Maggie Rogers has like a classic vibe about her... like she's been famous for years (which she will be) maybe it's because she takes to performing so naturally. She's a cool gal.
I agree. I think it's because she is doing her own things. So she doesn't need to look what others do. She just focus inside herself and finds the inspiration.
it's honestly wild to me that this is her TV debut. i'd be shitting bricks if i was up there and playing it safe but she's dancing like no one's watching... incredible
I just had a feeling about this video when I clicked. Had no idea who she was. And I’m so glad I did. Her voice is amazing and this song has heavy replay value
She’s amazing on so many levels. I hope to raise my daughter to express herself so freely and honestly without feel of judgement to be dancing like EVERYONE else.

ever dance like this in your living room? I forget who said it, or words to the effect: if you're copying someone elses moves you're not really dancing. Maggie's dancing in this video is so natural it's infectious; love it.
Some people commenting here don't understand Maggie as an artist, she produced the track 'Alaska' herself in its earliest form.. so all those slating her need to understand that she is revolutionary.. it's no 'background' music; she pieces together samples from nature to make this composition! I am so privileged to be alive at the same time as Maggie Rogers! 😍
@Joshua Hammond no they fuckin haven't lol. name artists with her background, education and musicianship. You can't and Pharell saw it. You can dislike her craft all you want, but to shit on her musicianship is fuckin bullshit and you need to give your balls a tug with that criticism.
What I see here is an artist that puts her full heart and soul into the music created, and the fearlessness of sharing it with the world. And as cheesy as the dancing is (its no BoA) I couldn't help but smile by the endearing nature of its drawing power. The kind of music that keeps touching the soul long after the first listen. What a special gift it is to experience in this world.
I'm a 34 year old dad of two. I don't normally listen to this genre but she is so unique but yet so familiar. I was cheeseily dancing around my front room with her by the end 😃
Ever since I watched the 'Masterclass with Pharrell' video, I've had this song on my playlists. Now that I've watched it performed live, I love it even more. Its so good to see an artist perform naturally and pure. No silly choreography, just an artist, expressing herself through her music. What a talent this young lady has, a real writer, singer, performer. True musician, not a Pop Tart. Hope to see much more from her in the future!
What makes her great is that she is unafraid to be herself. Most music and artists these days are a version of something we’ve seen already. She’s unique. Which is what Ferrell loved about her to begin with I believe. Tash Sultana, Alana Davis, Beth Orton, Esthero, some of my favorite singer-song writers and she definitely falls into that category!
I saw that masterclass video years ago, and my now wife and I saw Mumford and Sons in Philly and SHE opened for them! I felt absolutely exhilarated and proud that you hear someone who has got it and to see it right in front of you not long after made me have faith that pure artist like this can make it!!
Oh, she is just so very cool. Can't wait to see and hear what she brings forth from that wellspring of relaxed genius she's tapped into. Love it! Keep it coming, Maggie! Thank you for your beautiful music and the space it provides!

She literally dances like nobody's watching, it's so contagious and I love it. She's just having fun, it's sincere
Her love of both folk and EDM contributes to quite an original sound.
I love when artists sing for themselves rather than to the audience. Makes the music so much more true and felt. Maybe I'm just weird like that lol
Nope I agree lol guess we're both weird
You're weird, artists sing for their fans once they get famous, if you're singing for "yourself" at that point you're a narcissist
FACTs! A perfect way to describe this performance. What an artist.
her reaction in her face when she sees the standing ovation from the crowd is so authentic and genuinely happy. Glad to see her on the tonight show
