I was at Walmart a few days ago looking for the half composition books. I came upon the binders and noticed the “designer” binders. I really didn’t see any designs I liked. I picked up the plain binders but since watching your videos, I can’t settle for plain. I looked at them and wondered if I could cover them myself but didn’t know if the tape would work. I stood in the store, trying to see if I could find a video on your channel and then put them back. I was so excited when you announced this project and now I am more excited because I have several binders I need to customize. Thanks. Exactly what I needed.
This would be a great gift for the bride to be, reunion organizer, holiday planner....anything. You could also would probably put a clear sheet of contact paper on the outside papers to help preserve the cover if its gonna get lots of use like a weight loss planner. Great idea Sherry!
Or use printed contact paper to cover the binder
They turned out lovely. I will be doing this especially with all the school supplies in abundance right now. I always enjoy buying school supplies and stocking up on them. And I'm 71.😅
I do the same thing and I'm 69. Love school supplies especially at these rock bottom prices. I stock up for the year til the next sale!

I have several three ring hinders that are so ugly. Why did I never think of this? I guess because I’m not the Posh Paper Lady! What a sweet project. I will be making these. And I’ll bet kids would love something like this.

I started a plain white notebook like this in the 1980s for all my refinishing furniture projects. It is so full and side binder starting to get a little bit wonky. I want to go to the Dollar Tree on my lunch break next week to see if they have a thicker capacity of one for my projects. But, I also want to make your size for my niece returning to college in August. I bought a 3 ring planner for her already for her for her August birthday. I bought the planner from an online company that put hrr first name and middle name on the front of the planner. This idea excites me to make a really cool notebook for her. She will be starting her last year of college following up with graduate school.
I have had a hard day. Yesterday my Mom was gone for 3 years and today is her birthday. I spent the morning with my Dad and his health is failing. He saw a piece of furniture in my back seat and its an IKEA craft 4 side system i got for free but will be redoing it and putting knobs on the drawers to dress it up. I said i have been hoping to see one neighbor who is out of work to carry it up for me and i would give him $20. My Dad offered to carry it up for me as he is an English man and nothing is yo heavy for him but I said i would rather help the neighbor with some money.

Sherry, the whole project is beautiful, but I'm especially impressed with the pen holders!
I have purchased the pen holders that look like large paper clips, and I was so disappointed to discover that they can only hold skinny pens. Your proof that just slitting a regular pencil grip and gluing it to a notebook makes me feel like you've opened yet another world to me!

Well, let me tell you how many 3-ring binders I have . . . On second thought, I don’t think I will! LOL Genealogy is a passion of mine and I color-code each of our four family lines - my parents and my hubby’s. I usually create a surname ’label’ and slip a sheet of paper in the clear plastic pocket on the front and side. Effective, but boring!! I also scrapbook and have so many beautiful vintage-look papers. Guess who’s going to dress up her genealogy binders AND set them up like this so that I don’t have to carry a pen, pencil, highlighter, sticky notes and flags in a separate container!!!! ❤❤❤this idea!!! Thank you!!!!

Truly lovely! You're right-- this could easily become an "external brain" (something we called our planners when I was a nursing manager)! We could tuck all sorts of bits in the pockets and with a pack of plastic dividers from the Dollar Store, we could track all kinds of stuff and keep it separated too. Having the pen and highlighter readily available is an A+ kind of addition. Beautiful, Sherry! (Am I spelling your name right?? So sorry if not!)

What a fab idea for jazzing up these binders! I think about the binders at the thrift store with company logos or other educational logos emblazoned on them, and this is a great way to upcycle those binders and cover the unsightly logos.

Thanks for this video! Last year I bought the plain white binders intending to put family history into them for my grandchildren. The binders are so uninspiring that I’ve never put anything in them. Now, again, you have inspired me, and I can’t wait to get started!

Perfect timing, Sherry! My hubby gave me some black 1" and 2" three ring binders with his past employer's logo emblazened across the front, back, and spine. I want to use some for my stencils, some for full sheets of custom sentiments and greetings I keep as my originals and simply copy them for mass makes, and some for projects in progress. Instead of wrestling a narrow strip of decorative paper into the clear pocket on the spine, I can just use the adhesive tape on the back of my pretty paper, which is also labeled to make it a quick find on my shelf. I think this is going to be pretty longer than the clear pockets on the covers. Some times that plastic gets scrapes and scratches or have glare, making it harder to find. I am going to have fun with those binders now. I'm going to make a few, much like yours for organizing my calendar and gifts for friends. Thank you for sharing your ideas and finished projects.
