I am born and raised Brooklyn.
This is an accurate description of Bushwick these days.
Hell yeah! Williamsburg too
def lol
Same here, born and raised. It was nothing like this back then. Now it looks like little Europe.
Facts.
Dude didn't they rename bushwick to east Williamsburg
this was spot on. When I moved to Bushwick in 2015, they opened a Blue Bottle coffee across from my loft which had like $5 coffee, and my roommate got robbed at gunpoint on the same street
That dog having to walk backwards at 3:07😂😂😂
Shelby Herr I thought I was the only one that noticed that 😂😂😂😂
ACUTELDYBUG lol so did i
Shelby Herr that cracked me up, funniest part of the sketch 😅😅
Shelby Herr fucking adorable
Shelby Herr Beyond Cute!!
"My dog walkin' business is BUBBLIN' right now!"
Classic.
"That's just Kareem and his life parter" on the tandem bike that absolutely slays me everytime
Andd they look like the funnest guys, too.
One of the greatest sketches in the history of this show.
+rksu747 lol. not even close to being the greatest sketch on this show.
+Oliver Yoo I did not say it was the greatest, but thanks for wasting your time anyway!
+rksu747 Not even close to being one of the greatest. People won't even remember this skit 10 yrs from now. People still remember Chris Farley's Matt Foley and Chippendales skits. Schmidt's gay commercial. Classics. This? Not even. Thanks for wasting your time anyway!
+rksu747 I' agree, and i like the fact you used the word "greatest" instead of "funniest."
+Oliver Yoo Sorry, but I never thought Chris Farley was that funny. I've been watching SNL since the beginning.
GENTRIFICATION! "You act like you got gluten in your muffin"
Ellis Marcelle 🤣😂🤣😅
Ellis Marcelle love that's? Come by my channel and laugh yourself a new lung. Warning it might damage your brain but it should recover.
1000th like
that was the funniest line in the whole sketch!!!!! lmaoooo
@@vasisteel895 Except it's a problem without a solution. If the city or state freezes the property values and taxes, and restricts new ownership in a neighborhood, the adult children will have nothing to sell when their parents (owners of apartment) pass on. If a city attempts to preserve a poor neighborhood, it's for one generation at best, and is actually more cost than benefit for the next generation.
LOL who's that who's that oh that's just Karim and his life partner😂😂😂😂😂😂
Breion Rowles Guatemala
I'm
Breion Rowles yeah that was the icing on the cake (pause)
Who Dat!, nah "who's that" wtf??
😂😂😂😂😂😃😃
Kareem bro. Not Karim.
"I'm in love with the Coco" LMAO
Starlord i
Bet I get off this video and find an Accoustic cover for that song.
Starlord 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got it 4 tha lo lo
For real I want that coffee house version!
That is hysterically funny. I love that there are so many black cast members that they can do more skits like this. It really has improved the show, frankly, which I think was already doing fine in recent years. Keenan Thompson is always reliable, and Jay Pharaoh has really come started to come into his own lately.
It's sad they don't have Jay this season.
Happybidr KT is soo reliable, and Jay has 10/10 talent. I didnt know he wasn't on this season, I hope he is pursuing ventures to boost his acting career
The women have taken over that show.
2 isn’t really “so many”
Lies again? Bench Warmer
I love so much that one dog stuck backpedaling frantically when they walk away
Joyce Chen pool 9
Joyce Chen oy
He wanted to bury that body.
Matthew Texas your last name is sad.
Joyce: The original skit showed that Cavalier backing up had actually tumbled and had some issues getting up. That was taken out of the skit that is on this page. Poor spaniel tumbled, but it was funnier to see that happen. Im sure some people complain and it was edited.
I don't think half the people on here fully realize or appreciate how clever and intelligent these SNL sketches are lately. They're really setting the bar.
+Gregor Collins Can you help me out...I'm really confused....I'm from Cali so that's probably why...I mean I think this is about how the neighborhood is gentrifying but there's some references I don't understand, like all the dogs he walks??? funny but some parts I'm lost...lol
Ed Hdez You know, like a dog walker? Which is typically depicted as an effeminate man's job in movies.
HyborianAge I see..so the joke is they themselves are gentrifying with the neighborhood...thanks for the info...
Ed Hdez exactly
+SylvanaForrester Yeah you're right.
2022 and this banger still hits - the concept, the acting, the dialogue, the direction, the b-roll, the alleyway hit on radio
In both content and context, artesanal mayonnaise has to be the whitest thing I've ever heard.
artisanal*
Spell check: one of the first indicators of cybergentrification
I don't like outing myself as white on the internet, but I would absolutely pay $8 for a jar of garlic truffle mayonnaise.
lifestraight Ha! Hilarious comment.
lmao truffles are expensive for sure
“Why you tryna play me like I ain’t got 10 bitches man ... my dog walking business is bubbling right now” 😂😂😂
Why only three likes? Did you notice that's first time the audience lets it rip? Hilarious! With a straight face, too.
SPOT ON haha
"acting like someone put gluten in your muffin" lol
Fancy seeing you here...lol :D Ya that part had me cracking up!
Oh ya, it had it's funny parts, and it's ok parts....I never watch SNL myself anymore, but this gave me a chuckle :P
Definitely spot on! Hahahaha!
Classic! Lol gentrification is even ruining dudes from the corner. This sketch was pure gold.
Kevin is a wacadoodle ... lol
Lol
can someone help me for this homework ?? I need your help because this video is quite hard to understan.
what did the man on the left do on his date?
who does the man in the middle call his "bitches"?
the humour of the scene is based on a contrast: which one?
lili lala you joking right?
You shot him ? In front of the dogs ?
Brooooo these niggas deadass coming for my hood lmfao I can’t help but laugh because this is really Bushwick now 😂
"What else you gonc pair wine with? Air?!!"
I lost my shit with that!
Shoulda been wearing that sweater when he shot Ray.
girls getto fights in brooklyn
Ur right
That woulda killed
Yes! LMAO
3
This is a Key and Peele level of clever
Right right
They should've been the gay couple on the tandem bike lmao
Someone's oblivious to the fact that this is about you being oblivious. ..#gentrification
Julianna Kopa this shit isn't even funny.
Livy The Bugs! #DaddyVlog what makes you say that?
I live in Bushwick and there was literally a 6 person shootout right near the artisanal natural wine shop. Accurate.
When Kareem and his life partner rang the bell on there bike as they were waving , I lost it..🤣🤣
This skit was so hilariously funny. I used to live in Bushwick so I seen the changes it has made...they were so on point with this one...
This gave me a Dave Chappelle skit vibe.
It gave me an early 80s SNL vibe.
you must be talking about a different Chapelle Show fam lol
Arusha Braithwaite you must be on that crack......
tiddley redballz Never did drugs and never will. Try again.
same.. probably the end of his john mayer skit
3:09 lmao the dog that's forced to walk backwards and is just looking around like 😳 what's happening
booklover357 hahahaha
booklover357 lmao I’m dying
He dumb though, he could of turned around
“...he better learn!!”
Somebody had to watch the 6oclock in case ol boy got up
As someone from Brooklyn who's lived in bedstuy (directly next door to bushwick) this skit is hilarious bc it's becoming so gentrified all over.
It's funny!
Hi, from the future from Jefferson Avenue to Fulton is pretty Gentefied now in bed stuy.😂
This could've been re-titled "Crown Heights" and still would've been dead on.
Absolutely!
shit the whole NYC
The gentrification makes me miss the crime and crack just a little bit.
As a Crown Heights resident, I agree 110%.
I've been in Crown Heights 5yrs & completely agree. At this point I'm the one licking off a few shots at night trying to keep my rent down. No luck yet, I'm still stuck with 3 roommates from out of state & no living room.
I miss the "how many days since the last shooting" signs on Kingston Ave.
That is so bushwick now lolol....some people are in all seriousness starting to refer to it as East Williamsburg lol. It is the land of hipsters and well to do creatives, and it's ASTRONOMICALLY expensive now. It's insane!
jabrown1978 “East Williamsburg”. Lmao
jabrown1978 whites and asians, baby! Gotta love us!
I had to move out, lived in Bushwick for 17 years
@DeeSmokez Gaming Did your racist uncle or your dumb ass daddy teach you that? 😂
@Dan Patt Thank you. No, I had a great landlady who kept my rent low, but after reassuring everyone that she'd never sell, she finally decided to do it and move. They tore down the building and now in it's place is a bunch of small and overpriced apartments
my boyfriend is from Brooklyn and every time we go there he's like "ya see this Starbucks babe? well before that corner is real hood! drug dealers exchanging gun shots! I'm from a tough neighbourhood"
but all I can see are some oldies drinking spice lattes LOL
Good times 😂
I've noticed a bunch of Starbucks, Apple stores and Whole Foods in certain Brooklyn neighborhoods, and all I can think of is "Why?"
this is incredibly accurate
This is seriously beautiful.
Brooklyn has changed so much they apparently had to film this in Harlem. The corner they were on said 'St Nicholas' and 'Amsterdam'.
umm no
Dude, this is my old block in Bushwick.
Layla Hassan Like me
exactly !!! i never met John however i lived there as well from the late 70's to 80's
It does says St.Nic and Amsterdam.. Thats in Harlem 😂
"You act like someone put gluten in your muffin"
😂😂👌
I felt this whole skit in my SOUL man lmao, perfect.
agreed 😭
It's so depressing how accurate this is. Fucking hipsters are ruining my city.
What are you going to do about it?
North Star
you sound offended lol
FALUKYOURMOM
You sound stupid.
North Star
that escalated quickly
Class and low crime rate is "ruining" your city?
The concept of real nigga shit certainly has evolved.
I got ten bitches😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Yo you acting like somebody put gluten in ya muffin
Very funny!
The paint and wine bit SENT ME!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And he's so dedicated. His face was everything.
Being a New Yorker, this is 100% accurate 😂😂
how one of the dogs kept walking "backwards like wtf he shot that man"
Like someone put gluten on your muffins or summin! jjjaaaaahhaaaaa o maan this sketch is pure genius!!!
Kenan sounds like Tracy Morgan, Method Man, and Busta Rhymes all at the same time lol
Hahahahahaha 'whad else ya gonna pair wine with, air?'
Right 😂😂
"Streets is talkn thats y u gettin that bread rn" 😂🤣
I grew up in these streets. Is funny how when I was in junior hs (IS 349) we had to run on the street if we had after school because we were afraid to get mugged. I had a teacher who used to say if we wanted to get out of BK we had to work and study hard... now EVERYONE wants to be here. What an irony!
i went to 113 in fort greene.. i swing through that neighborhood now and its weird...
I went to 347. I’m shook.
@@marctouss1862 Ghostwriter was based there. Was it starting to change in the early 90's?
@@jennifergersch9126 late 90's early 2000's..
I go to the school right down the block from where they were standing!
NerdnamedLeo great now everyone knows where you go to school
Some Eggs oh no, what will he ever do?
Same thing happened in my city it's happening in every hood it's a country wide plan !
puerto rico i hear its happening there too
oakland too
Yep. Witness the white flight to the former hood across America. Oh...you missed it. Took place 5 or 10 yrs ago everywhere but Chicago.
vedametatron damn hipsters
Patrick Wickham Z
I was born and raised in Bushwick in the fifties and early sixties and witnessed first hand the changing neighborhood...except in reverse......
This piece is a work of art!
The one dog that walked mostly backward after Kevin shot the guy and walked away made me laugh way harder than anything else.
This is one of my absolute favorite skit. It is geniusly written 😂😂 Those red sweaters and Karim and his life partner has me dying with laughter 😂😂
2:20 ♫ I'm in love with the coco ♫ hahaha!
390h8er freaking best part!
NeoDragonFlame best
Good one. Though will NBC please normalize the audio at the end of SNL sketches on RUclips so that the theme music isn't blasting so loud it will disturb my neighbors?
FlyingOverTr0ut
Agreed!
FlyingOverTr0ut nigga stfu
F-k yo’ neighbors...and yo’ couch!
Maybe you should ask for a refund or drink a tall glass of STFU 🍹..........sips slowly
FlyingOverTr0ut lmfao
cant front, that coco rendition was fire
Breion Bethel who is the singer?
This is basically Brooklyn in general.
Nah not east New York or anywhere near projects
I'm from Brooklyn and this is one of the best things I've ever seen. So true
cindy Queen you're an idiot. I'm from crown heights and I'm black. That's a picture of jojo mayer world famous drummer
cindy Queen
why don't you use all of that energy and spread something positive in this world. I will keep the picture up of this white guy because I try to live with no biases. Thinking forward is the name of the game for 2015.
cindy Queen you're reaching so hard for a reaction...keep trying. You're world is small.
*your
You do realize that white people have lived in Brooklyn since the 17th century
This was hilarious. Especially the moment he tried to walk away with his bitches (dogs) after he shot something.
Can listen to this gang all day 😂
HELP! I need a opener line for my essay about gentrification and place attachment!!
should it be "Gentrification: love it or hate it" or "Dam son, they took the corner funeral home and turned it to a espresso bar"
LMAO...
I use to live in Ridgewood for 20 years and decided to pass by the other day and it looked so different. It looks very nice and wished that I never left.
Your point?
Man, this is soooo true! I hadn't been back to the BK in a while and when I went up there this Christmas, nothing was the same! I'm talking coffee shops, boutiques, wineries and even a Trader Joe's! It was confusing as hell! I both knew where I was and DIDN'T know where I was at the same time!!! It was both funny and sad. Definitely a contradiction! This skit totally nailed it!!!
MakeWayForCJ I dont this this skit is what ur comment means or reflects upon.....i think it mostly reflects on how people think the ghetto just talk about and wanna do hood shit but in reality when the kick it with us "hoodlums" and listen to the shit we actually talk about they will be surprised.....but then again thats just me cuz me and my homies post up a lot but people only think the worst of us
MakeWayForCJ So absolutely true. I'm from Bklyn (Flatbush area). I took my kids there one summer, and same as you, I knew where I was, but yet didn't. The once upon time rough areas are now smoothed out. Prospect Place--Damn! Jews walking around! Oh, god! Downtown Bklyn??? Let me say, we're not in the hood anymore. Lol!
This gentrification thing...I just wish it would benefit the original residents; meaning keeping the good people intact in their neighborhood. Why we couldn't, back then, get that kind of support and/or that investment? We could've had our cake and eat it too.
Speaking of Trader Joe’s, can someone please tell me why there’s a Starbucks on Lafayette Avenue? The neighborhoodiest neighborhood does not need a Starbucks.
@@jennifergersch9126 Geezus! Are you serious? That sounds....blasphemous.
2:19 Brick is a white woman who sings folk songs on a guitar. :D
Benzene also brick doubles as white girl which masquerades as a nickname for Co cain.
brick or britt like brittany??
Wait, but there actually IS an artisanal mayonnaise store in Prospect Heights. Not a joke.
So sad....
Wow grew up in Bushwick from 72-93...Saw it burn down, no street lights working, heroin EVERYWHERE, Crack Killing everybody...yet I graduated from Aviation HS, graduated from St Francis College and became a responsible adult....Yeah gentrification is yeilding $2,000 rents for a studio, Conde Naste says Bushwick is the 5th most liveable place in the world...Took the toughness of Bushwick, the respect u gave everybody on the street, and the love for your parents and used it in a positive way...Everything changes, Brownsville, East New York, Pitkin, your next....Maybe Woodhull Hospital wont be the Butcher Shop its been for 40 years...
Good for you. I grew up on Dumont and Tapscott in the 50's and 60's, just before it got insanely dangerous. Yes, everything changes.
Kareem and his life partner lol
Just took a Saturday morning walk in Bushwick, 2022- this is completely accurate 🥴😭😂😂
Right hahaha
This shit is happening in DC and even Maryland!!!!!
Onlylettuce92 I'm hip especially in silver spring and takoma
Literally everywhere
Most of those neighborhoods were built and populated by whites to begin with. Who the hell are you to claim them as your own?
Mr. White to begin with? Try again.
+Julius Thompson Yup, Bushwick was originally Irish/Italian.
whoever wrote this is fucking funny as hell.
"That's just Kareem and his life partner."
LOLZ!!!
Was born in bed stuy but was raised in Bushwick and Glendale, my parents described exactly how was Bushwick and this video is super accurate till this day
One of the best sketches from SNL in a long long time.
"That's just Kareem and his life partner".....lmfao
lmfaooooo this is so accurate its scary. shout out to those hipsters bringing new food establishments tho.
can someone help me for this homework ?? I need your help because this video is quite hard to understan.
what did the man on the left do on his date?
who does the man in the middle call his "bitches"?
the humour of the scene is based on a contrast: which one?
lili lala 1) The man on the left just talked, ate food, and shopped on his date. 2) The man in the middle called the dogs bitches, because female dogs are called bitches. 3) The humor is based om how these guys seem like they're from the hood, yet are doing gentrified, hipster, stereotypically 'white people things.'
Natcho macho taco lit
I love this sketch for many reasons...but that dog in the middle walking backwards though
I'm from Ft. Lauderdale and they are building a Starbucks on West Broward blvd and I thought to myself it won't be long until it's like Bushwick lol
This is honestly one of the funniest SNL skits in a while
3:07 I am forever the brown and white puppy in the middle whenever a new trend starts and I don't get it yet.
Brooklyn is gone. It's condo and cafe ville now. Tear 😥
+Mahalia Noble Do you miss the old Brooklyn? Where people get shot everyday?
+Mahalia Noble Man, they opened a " Cereal Bar " where they charge you 6-7 dollars for a single small bowl of Cereal, when the Box costs 5 dollars in the Supermarket. And people are actually buying it. People from everywhere else that are coming here are making it impossible for New Yorkers that have been here for generations to continue to live here.
Yeah, now it's hipsterville
Yep.
nyc is a wrap
Omg, I remember going to the weed spots in Bushwick around '98, 99..good times...😄😄
It's like this in Chicago too! Except for all the parts that weren't about shooting people.
I can't! Too hilarious. I use to hang in Bushwick back in the days. Hard to believe this is what its turned into.
This was a brilliant skit. Shout out to Bushwick.
Why does everyone assume they're homeless just because they're hanging out outside ? That's what people do in broke areas where there's fuck all to do.
+Anfubvinch I know right? Im super annoyed reading these comments.
+Anfubvinch I live out in the country, in Texas. You can always tell the difference when you drive around, between white people's houses and black peoples.
Black people BBQ in the front yard. Couch in the front. Tire swing in front yard tree. They will sit in the front yard, in a chair, and wave at people passing.
White people BBQ in the backyard.
It's a cultural phenomenon
Apparently not broke enough to not pay rent....
Because they're not from bushwick. LMAO
Anfubvinch you think a homeless man can afford artisan mayonnaise..lol
03:07 Does anyone realize how adorable that one dog is when she's walking backward? That's super cute! Lol
Just perpetrating for the Hood, while speaking on Mayo, Gluten and E-vites 😂😂😂😂
Haha, great skit. I was born and raised in bushwick and i must say it's definitely changed from the cesspool of crime that it was before
That was culturally hysterical. I love the wine and cheese get together. Philadelphia USA
The gentrification on bushwick is sooo real🤣🤣🤣
I am an outsider that spent summers in BK and usually xmas and easter too, for my whole life until college. I will never forget the first time i realized BK was different. My cousin was moving from that neighborhood where the ODB mural is, back to flatbush. I was helping. So i'm in bk wearing a black hoodie, black track pants, black shoes, black gloves and a black hat..... this old WHITE couple comes up to me while i'm putting a tv in a suv, and asks me for directions. I was STUNNED!!!
As much as I love SNL, few sketches are so good and well-realised that they merit an entire full season of their own. This is one of those special exceptions.
I love this sketch. And marvel at how you can tell such an interesting story in only four minutes.
I remember a time you couldn't pay white folks to walk down broadway let alone bushwick ave smh. Ain't what it used to be
I know i lived on putnam and central seen white folks there i was amazed. Before that i was on Hull st and rockaway no white folks.
RANM RBG TV right there with you man
Ram stfu!!!!!! Hells kitchen was the first hood to be gentrified and guess what???!!!! It was a notorious Irish hood that got gentrified in the early 90s by rich yuppies and hipsters!!!!!! Don't forget it was the white Italian and Irish hoods in NYC that were gentrified first!!!!!! Fact!!!!!!!!!!! Truth is people never thought it would spread to other parts of Manhattan bk n brnx but it did!!!!!!!fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm from South Central we got Mexicans down here now running things
Come to myrtle broadway two murders this week and plenty of needles on the ground
I love how the fact that they've added so many great black cast members that they can do all kinds of skits (like this one--CRACKED UP at the shoes thrown over the phone line) they couldn't do before. Really great stuff.
Grew up in bushwick and I gotta say they the made the neighborhood I wish I lived in. It's so artsy now. I like it.
My dog walking business is bubbling right now 😅😅😅
This was HILARIOUS! Brooklyn has changed FOR REAL, but SOME things have stayed the same... lol
OMG, I just moved to Bushwick and I like it :)
Are you still in Bushwick?
"dog walking business is bubbles right now" lol
that one dog who kept walking backward killed me
I was just walking around that area. its so amazing.
