After reading your comment I went back to look and you are totally right!!! It's on the inside of his arm to pin the arm to the side of the board and make the nail swing stage much easier!!!

That seems cool in theory but in practice it would be awful as the tapebots kill you in one second with nothing you can do about it. It wold make the warehouses way tougher and _way_ more annoying.
